Re: Volkswagen Vento : Test Drive & Review

During my car service @VW, CBE (In Sep). The SE mentioned it's common problem of clutch being too tight. VW is working on the solution, some pipe needs to be changed. Which will happen end of Nov,11 for free of cost.

Not sure how much this is true?

Update on Rear RH Stuck Power Window Problem: I have tried in different different service centers totally 6 times.
The last I have tried was Palace Cross, Blr. Still the same problem came again after a week they repaired it.
Every time I go they put some lubricant and said they solved the issue.
I guess the motor is the issue and they are not getting convinced to change it. I have also raised complaint to VW toll free.

Not sure what I have to do now??

@blackdiesel: Congrats on getting the Witson, Please post some pics.

Thanks. I just posted few pics today in my thread here. I have also posted some Vento pics in the midst of nature in the same thread. Have a look.

There was someone else who mentioned about the exorbitant incidental charges - seems like the dealers at Hyd are forming a cartel which, even if it happens, I would not be surprised .
I guess that someone would be me. I got my Vento TDi from Orion motors Hyderabad, recently. I managed to bring down the cost of most components Insurance : The dealer matched a quote given by a private insurer. Brought down by nearly 16K.
Incidental charges : The dealer agreed to give a 50% off on the incidental charges (yet to receive the cheque).
Accessories: When I asked for the break up of the "standard accessories", it included nearly 5K for the reverse sensors! These guys sure do give VW a bad name in the market. I bought just the basic stuff from them and am planning to fit the others from car accessory shops.
Nikhil, please PM me in case you need to know more details.

Sourav - You are right about the cartel thingy. The SM openly told me - "you are free to check with any of the VW dealers in AP. All of us are charging 15K for the incidental charges". I raised a stink with VW through FB and Twitter and they promised action. As I said, all I have is a promise from the dealer that they would refund 50% of this 15K and I'm still awaiting the cheque.

Did you also get a corporate discount of Rs 16000/- generally available from VW? This is generally refunded later by check. In my case the dealer had deducted it from the total price.

Sourav, here's a scanned copy of the first few pages of the warranty booklet. I am sure you should have received it. Check the leather folder again. I was specifically shown the warranty card and asked to sign on it at the time of delivery.

Did you notice the funny thing here? They didn't even bother to change the 1.4 to 1.6 from the SA-specific manual. It's like saying -- why bother doing these things for the Indian market. All Indian buyers are fools anyway and don't read the manual.

Re: Volkswagen Vento : Test Drive & Review

I just posted it on the rapid thread. This third increase looks like a VAT increase for the state of AP. Vento TDI HL retails for 9.94 lakhs ex-showroom in TN too. Its not an official price increase from VW.

I think he was mentioning about the hydraulic fluid pipe for the clutch. Ricky_63 has got it changed in his car, but the issue he mentioned was a little different. Not too sure if it will help in reducing the heaviness of the clutch though.

My details are filled in. I erased them out. Looks like the erase job was a little too good! No I did not get the discount coupons that you've mentioned! Isn't that a little odd? Discounts on appliances for purchasing a car?

Sounds quite reasonable! Mine's original warranty with zero dep came at 29k (Tata AIG, Bajaj was costlier), so 21k is a excellent deal if it also has the zero dep clause included (I hope you are considering it?)

Btw haven't seen any posts from you on this thread - possibly you are one of the oldest Vento owners on tbhp, if I'm not mistaken. How's the car after a year of usage?

Re: Volkswagen Vento : Test Drive & Review

Take the IDV bajajallianz is offering and shop around with the other insurance providers. You can pit one against the other and you can opt for the IDV/premium combo which works the most best for you or can settle for the lowest premium for the same IDV.

You can put in a request in any of the online portals, you will be overwhelmed with calls from every one of them!
