Wow PAVAN you've been quite brutal with VW at all levels! To be fair, the fit and finish of my Vento AT are fine, in fact I found it better than other cars in this class and certainly satisfactory for a 10 lac car. I do feel that the plastics could have been softer though. The dealership experience you have narrated is almost certainly what almost each of us here has experienced, which makes me agree with you that VW has lost the plot somewhat. I wonder why the company and its dealers- who surely access these pages?- don't wise up. |

Yeah that was brutal :)
The fact is, other cars in this segment have worst fit and finish.
But frankly I dont find an issue with the fit and finish at all. |
I am sorry for being so rude guys, But being such a loyal VW follower, i really looked forward for a good experience while my TD, but they failed miserably.
The other manufacturer in the segment, that i liked is the Honda City, so much refined, the TD experience was a real revelation, so courteous , well, let me not drag Honda in a VW thread.
But i still love VW, but certainly not the new one's:D
I'm a VW fan too, but I have to admit that, even when I drove a Golf for a couple of years, around 1990, the legend of "don't worry about expensive spares; you won't be needing any" was already over. Not that it was a bad car, I liked it very much, but it was not niggle-free.

Well, I feel the most crucial thing that most people seem to neglect is the backseat comfort in the Vento. The leg space is acceptable and is similar to ANHC and slightly better than Linea TJet. But, it is to be understood how VW managed to squeeze that leg room:-
1) The vertical support is erect, meaning a very upright seating posture.
2) Lesser Under thigh support.
3) Big hump: 3rd passenger is impossible.
I feel, these facts makes long rides, sitting on rear seats highly uncomfortable. In fact, my wife felt that it wasn't any better than the i10 in this aspect.
NOTE: The above observations are made in comparison with ANHC & Linea.
Yeah Pavan - that was lethal! Hwever, I agree with Evilshantanu and Thad, I quite like the fit and finish, ride quality, suspension. Even dash plastics are good, but quite agree with you on the seating and the bump. All said and done, there isnt a better option at this price and torque in the C segment. The Linea T Jet and the ANHC suck on ride quality and suspension. SX4 and Manza aren't in the same league
Btw here are some pics from my PDI on Friday :). Taken from the mobile, so please forgive the resolution. The bonnet and boot are in white tape and hence look a different colour. Car goes in for regn tommorrow, so hopefully delivery this coming weekend :D

Congratulations first of all. Hope you get your Vento soon.
"

Linea T-Jet sucks on ride quality and suspension.:Shockked:
Who said that? Have you test driven this car? Have you read GTO's review? You can have your opinion, but you should atleast prefix "IMHO" to your statement.
I too went to VW Downtown showroom this weekend for Polo & Vento's test drive for my friend to finalize one of these. The sales guy started giving me TBhp references regarding rave reviews and said he too was on TBhp. But when I told him that I'm from TBhp, he subsided somewhat, and then I asked him what was his TBhp ID, and I get the most unexpected answer...."Oh Sir... I don't remember... I've written it somewhere in a notebook at home!".
Haaa, these sales guys have started using TBhp as a marketing tool to convince people about their cars! Anyway, we finalized on Polo Trendline petrol, and delivery is expected within one month.

Well guess its implied that its my opinion I'm posting :). My point is its nowhere compared to the Vento ride quality and suspension. ANHC is worse
Also am being told that the USB/AUX system touted on the VW website is in short supply and I will have to take my delivery without it. Will be updated on its arrival for subsequent fitting. Is this the case with accessories in other cities as well?
@Svis, congratulations! Thanks for the pics. You can also look at alternative (and better IMO) HU upgrades like ventoman did - you'll get a much feature-rich system with integrated reverse sensor and GPS at a slightly higher cost.
Congrats Svis.
What have you decided on the insurance?.
Also I'm not able to see the accessories in VW india website.
Where do the IMO/HU get upgraded? Topspeeder - took the insurance from Tata AIG - 30k for zero dep policy

Higher Cost?
Reverse Camera/Sensor: Rs. 3000
GPS: Rs. 14000
HU: ~15000
All this totals to Rs. 32000
While an integrated one would cost hardly 20,000. So the cost is
less not
more.
