Can be fitted from outside, not available as a Toyota accessory.

Will that void any warranty on the car?
Was also told that the reverse sensors were not bod colored. Is that true!

If no wire is cut, your warranty will not be void. You need to go to a good car decor shop with knowledgable mechanics.

The original Toyota reverse sensors are not body coloured, they are black. But after-market sensors have colour options.

You can buy aftermarket stuff which are body colored and get it installed at the Toyota A$$. This way they can NOT decline you warranty. Also, you'll have body colored sensors. WIN-WIN!

Re: Toyota Etios : Test Drive & Review

Toyota has launched the Etios Xclusive Limited Edition.

The Etios Xclusive is based on the G grade of the Etios and features some minor cosmetic upgrades, which distinguish it from the regular variants of the car. There is an Xclusive badge, a full chrome grille and chrome garnish on the headlamp, tail lamp and ORVMs. The car is available in two existing colours - Classic Grey and Symphony Silver.

Coming to the interiors, Toyota has given the Etios Xclusive a new Bluetooth audio system.

How many times Toyota wants to revive a dud - its made to cost, the world knows it, am not sure when will Toyota admit it that the product has been discarded.

How do we define duds here? Lets say Toyota sells 5000 Etios cars annually in India, thats still revenue of 350 crores for the company...

Surya,

We need to factor in a lot more aspects than just the revenue.

There is a cost for R&D, Marketing, Manpower, Dealer Commission over and above the final production cost of the vehicle.

So the revenue cannot just justify the profitability of any car.

Going by this, Etios twins would be a losing proposition for Toyota and hence are duds.

Looks like a new version is being launched that includes a new look and dual airbags across the range.

Re: Toyota Etios : Test Drive & Review

Hi ,

People find Toyota most reliable and customer friendly. Many buy them only because of this property. However I just came across a post from my friend on facebook. His Etios collided head on at the Ernakulam-Alleppey highway and the air bags did not deploy. Occupants suffered serious injuries. They raised the complaint to the company and Toyota guys are saying that it did not collide properly. The entire front is mangled. Such irresponsible , insensitive behavior is not new to Indians.

Did they care to mention what is a proper & an improper collision? Toyotas are generally not known for such kind of failures.

What exactly is Toyota saying? Normally Toyota cars don't behave this way. Were the seat belts being used? Would be interested to know full details.

The sensors are placed in the frontal impact beam! In the picture, the driver side of the impact beam remains intact! No sign of impact on it. But, in the Latin NCAP test, the driver's side takes the impact and it triggers the airbags!
Reminds me of a fellow BHPian's accident in his Polo in Mumbai where it spun out and crashed in a ditch and the airbags didn't deploy!
