The new skoda yeti does look bigger than the current one. I've not seen such an update on the skoda Europe site, any idea of the launch dates?

I suppose this would be the Skoda Yeti LWB (Long wheelbase) version, made specifically for the Chinese market as rumored earlier. Whether this makes it to India or no is still to be seen.

Thanks Behemoth! It does appear larger than the current version. I totally dislike the spare stuck at the back. Give a tourist-vehicle like feel. I hope they to a major upgrade to the cabin kit level to remain in the competition. I look forward to get full details once they release it in next trade show.. wherever it may be.

I agree about the spare wheel positioning. It's terrible. I would never buy such a Yeti.

From the looks of it, the wheel base appears similar to the current version. Skoda seems have taken the path of least resistance to make room for a third row of seats - extend the rear overhang a bit, and stick the spare wheel on the hatch!

Will have to see this in flesh - this kind of design is always a hit or miss, especially on (relatively) small form factor cars - just check out the numerous examples of wannabe SUVs in the W&W thread :)

Buying Dilema: 2012 or 2013 Yeti?

Hi Guys, switched my decision from buying Laura to a Yeti now. Could someone consult me on if its OK to pick a 2012 Ambition 4x2? I am getting 1.5 lacs dsc on this car (dealer may want to get rid of it). This car landed with dealer in March 2013.

Or does it make more sense to pick the 2013 model on 75k discount. I will be keeping the car for 5 years. Resale isnt a priority.

Cheers!

What's the difference between the 2012 and 2013 models in terms of features?? If there isn't any suggest you go for the 2012 model but push for more discounts since it is almost mid 2013 now.

Nope. Get model with max discount. 1.5L on 2012 model looks reasonable to me. I have same car and got the same discount about a year back.

I wish things were changing so quickly for Yeti. Per my information, there is no difference in 2012 and 2013 model.

Has anyone of the Skoda Yeti owners attempted North east or Ladakh region? I was wanting to read the performance of this mean pocket rocket in those areas.

Yes, Pramod from Nagpur has already done the Leh trip in his Yeti. More details on his thread:

Incidentally, Anshuman did the Leh circuit in his Laura last year and that thread is an inspiration for all of us!

I was also supposed to do it last year, but due to a sudden family emergency, had to cancel.

Are you sure this is not a Chinese copycat version?
:)

Interesting scoop on the new Skoda Yeti testing in China and it does look like it is going to get a tail mounted spare in future! The rear hatch also looks like it has been changed to a side opening version, instead of a lift up type.
Interestingly they chose to disguise it as a Suzuki Vitara (and put Suzuki branding) and the test variant was not carrying any other camouflage.

Some more pics surface of the 2014 beast?

Not sure though on how the tailgate opening mechanism is - to me it looks as is the tailgate spare is mounted on a separate lever mechanism, which swivels it sideways and then then tailgate can be opened upwards like it is now. This type of mechanism is also there on a few land rover models (these are pics of some customized ones)
Any guesses?

Hi!

Any of you guys upgraded the headlamp bulbs on your Yeti?

Please do mention the details.

Thanks :)

I have upgraded my Yeti lamps to Philips Xtreme H4 which claim +80% light. These are the same as the Oe wattage and to me there is at least 30-40% improvement in the light level. Osram nightbreakers are also supposed to be as good too.

Any idea what kind of deals and discounts are available for the yeti nowadays.
