A move that should have been in place from day 1! With all those negative feedback doing the rounds, I am not sure even fleet'walas would want to pick one or two now!

But I hope at-least they make sure they have worked on any problems happened so far or treat the Aria customers better than the rest & provide a SUPERB CE. That's the need of the hour TATA - please do pull up your socks!

There is more to the new variant as seen reported below.

Quote:
The Aria LX variant will not have the standard features like airbags, antilock braking systems, electronic-brake distribution systems and electronic power steering.

It may also lack features such as Bluetooth connectivity, cruise control reverse parking sensors and rain sensing wipers. Tata Motors is also working on minor updates in engine and transmission, as well as an improved design, which could include smoked headlamps
.

Cheers!

Aria with revised tail lamp caught testing.

Our friends at Motorbash.com have managed to snap a Tata Aria with a revised tail lamps cluster. The turn indicators and reverse lights now sport clear lenses and there is a dash of chrome on the outer sides of the clusters.

If you remember, another Aria with smoked headlamps was caught testing near Pune recently and that makes us think that the new head- and tail-lamps are part of image-corrected Aria.

We believe that along with subtle cosmetic changes, there could be something new on the interior as well. We expect the updated Aria to come with a 6-speed automatic transmission which was showcased at the Delhi Expo 2012.

In a recent interaction with Indian Autos Blog, Mr. Ranjit Yadav, President of Tata Motors passenger car business unit said the company is “working on a number of things on the Aria.”

Re: Tata Aria : Test Drive & Review

I was wondering when Tata will be introducing their trademark tall tail lamps (from top to bottom) in their 'Tata-Marcopolo' buses!

To make their car a bit good looking, they have to get rid of the tall tail lamps. They are the worst looking part of all Tata cars - be it Nano, Indica, Vista, Manza (how did they do that in Manza?) and Aria. That single change will make their cars look much better. Instead of the vertical design, they have to go for the current trend of horizontal designs.

Re: Tata Aria : Test Drive & Review

I honestly feel all this is just cotton candy window dressing that skirts the main issue.

If Tata want the Aria to sell as it should, then they have to do something about that bonnet and front / 3/4 on view.

Remove the slope. Make it more squarish. Hell, get back the bonnet of the Sierra and the Estate and the 207 man.

That would look class on the Aria body overall.

Any serious attempt at international markets may need a Petrol engined version, which Aria does not have.

I agree, petrol engine is a must for overseas markets. It was rumoured/reported that Tata was indeed working on a petrol engined version. And, we also had a Xenon test mule with a petrol engine spotted on the forum, IIRC, suggesting the engine could well be under development.

Tata already have 486 PL engine which is derived from Sumo 483 engine, with bore increased to 86 MM from 83 MM. It's twin cam, 16 valve, 2.1 litre engine developing 125 BHP @ 5630 RPM. I'm sure it is capable of producing much more. It used to be available in Safari petrol. In Thailand, it was offered in Tata Xenon CNG version.

Smoked head and tail lamps looks better. Hopefully TM could introduce a package with these across models.

Re: Tata Aria : Test Drive & Review

Correct me if I am wrong but they always showcase ATs in motor shows every year.
I wonder if those are scale models or gears actually shift!!!

Re: Tata Aria : Test Drive & Review

Good bits: AT, Significantly better Audio, and possibly 10% higher power - Features and rest of the stuff seem the same. Wish they had an AT when I bought mine.

Cosmetic - Tail Light & Head Lights refresh - Current Aria buys would buy these and refresh their vehicles.

Beige Interiors? - Not what the Eurpoeans want though India loves it. Current Top spec varients have All Black or Black & Plum interiors.
