Didn't get your point. Is airbag deployment dependant on seatbelt being buckled up? If so, that seems pretty unsafe...

I don't think that the airbag is dependent on seat belts in the Polo, but, even if it is, this is a decision based on a balance of safety and danger. An airbag exploding in your face is, itself, a pretty dangerous thing and it is calculated to work with the seat belt.

A very unfortunate incident. Hope the survivors recover soon and condolences to the families who have lost loved ones in the accident.

If you notice the picture of the Polo, the engine bay has absorbed most of the impact and not pushed the engine into the passenger cabin. Also, I suspect that the travellers probably were not wearing seat belts which would have improved their chances of survival.

Two survived. According to Police, the car was travelling around 120 kmph when the accident happened and no one was wearing seat belts.

Polo has air bags which indeed deploy independently of seat belts. When I bought my Polo, I was informed of this and also the fact that it would be more dangerous to skip wearing seat belts because of the air bag deploying in close proximity.

Can anyone tell me, if warranty is dependent on the 7500Km/6 Months free check up, that one is entitled to before the yearly 15K service.

The two are not related.

Any new news on facelift ?

The 7500km / 6 months free checkup has been designed by VW to increase the interaction of After Sales team with the customer and also to try and upsell stuff like Extended Warranty, Accessories, 3M Car Care treatments, etc.

Skipping this should not in any manner void your warranty as no items are replaced (unless required) during this inspection.

VW Polo to launch soon!

The most obvious is this striking new orange paint shade and the new design for the alloy wheels, but the bigger news is that not all the changes from the international model have made it to the Indian car. While this car is the base 1.2 petrol version, and the 1.2 TSI turbo-petrol is also likely to return, the diesel engine will be all-new. The newly developed 1.5-litre TDI engine will be available in two states of tune – 89bhp and 104bhp – with the latter reserved for the Polo GT TDI model.

Holy moly! The new flat-bottomed multi-function steering wheel, larger MID inside the cluster a la the Laura. Brilliant!

My Passat Trendline has exactly the same wheel design. Not a good feeling. These probably look like 15 inchers whereas mine are 16. But Still :Frustrati

The car in the photos is a petrol but looks like top of the line. It is most likely the 1.2L 3 cylinder petrol but just wondering if they got the 1.2TSI with a manual transmission as well.

Posting some more pictures courtesy AutocarIndia.

is this new flat bottom steering the same size at the gti steering ?

New steering wheel + New instrument cluster is worth more than 70-80k if ones buy from online, good upgrade must say :)
Maybe they have added folding mirrors - lets see :)

The facelift is looking really good. I am hoping that they don't screw up on the pricing. Will the GT TDI variant come with the DSG gearbox?

The other side of the coin...

The colour scheme looks like a cheap, badly done, home-designed mod. All it lacks is flames painted on the side.

The wheel... steering wheels aren't round any longer? How? I'm willing to go for this if it works, because sometimes the illogical and new just works, but I'll take some convincing.

The centre console. Yuck. I've liked VW interior design for decades. They have resisted the cheap-looking pseudo-metal borders. Until now, it seems. Result? It looks cheap.

All I can think is that the designers were given the brief to change stuff, regardless of whether the result looked good or not.

It does not look good to me.
