2 lac kms on Polo TDi.

Thats some sheer reliability of VAG TDi engines.

You should definitely put up a long term ownership review of your car covering following
1. Purchase
2. Service
3. Bills
4. Cost of ownership
5. Issues faced

I believe no one ever does such mileage on German cars. You definitely owe us a long term ownership thread. It would help a lot of people who have a mindset of German cars being expensive.

Hi, Yes I definitely owe you all a long term review. I have a love and hate relationship with my car. I had almost sold her in March this year but couldn't let go of her.

1. Purchase.
Got the car in October 2010 after my Fiat incident. I got the car in 3 days flat while the waiting period was 8 months for a Silver Polo. Also got 15 K discount.
I still remember that evening went I saw her for the second time. I had gone to the dealer at 5 in the morning to see her get of the truck. It was the first Navratra and she was the first car to delivered that day. After taking delivery went straight to the nearest Gurudwara. Also named her Cherry that day. Use to get stopped by people wanting to see the car.

Also had some ICE installed by a Fellow BHPian.

2. Service

Service is always fun. We have two dealers in Chandigarh. And i would say that Swami In IND Area Phase 1 are the best for VW. The Mohali Dealer is not up to the mark. Previous Tata dealer so its explains alot but they are very helpful and will let me use their tool and work on my car as they couldn't screw a nut properly.

Please never get brake pad installed at the dealers. The same brake pads are available at Rs 900 outside and they sell the same for Rs 4000+

3. Bills

Nothing till now. Only Link rods and some bushes that's its. Link road are 1600 and bushes some 2300.

My cars water Pump failed and it was changed by VW under Goodwill Warranty. They even provided free coolant and A/C service. but I was without Cherry was about 8 days.

Link Roads have been changed 4 time and bushes 2 time.

If not changed on time she will eat tires from outside as well as inside.

4. Cost of ownership

Service 9000* 15= Rs 1,35,000 in service cost.
Link Rods Rs 6400
Bushes Rs 4600
Brake pad and Leather RS 12200 Appox + labour max 2k
Fuel Rs 688235

Total Rs 848435 + Insurance

5. Issues faced

Nothing Much.

1. The paint has some flaws.
2. The water Pump incident.
3. VW mohali.
4.Glow Plug Light use to come once in a while before the ECU upgrade.

guys anyone install the sr body kit on their polo ? I had a few questions.

1. How much lower does the front spoiler make the current front end ? Is it the same height or is the car height increased to maintain the same front height as before ?

2. Would it be advisable to install the body kit if I often had to go via rural roads ?

thanks

Unfortunately, that's how it is.

Did you not notice this when you took a test drive? Or did you not take one at all? Enjoy the car.

Congratulations on the car! As Gannu has already told you, there is no such feature on the Vento/Polo siblings. You can get aftermarket ones though.

Re: Volkswagen Polo : Test Drive & Review

I've never noticed that there is no seat belt warning light. It would make absolutely no difference to me anyway.

Re: Volkswagen Polo : Test Drive & Review

1. The AC fan speed on my Polo 1.2 (P) Highline keeps going all over the place when it is in manual mode. If I keep it at 2 bars, it reduces to 1 bar after some time. If it is at 3 bars and I accelerate, it goes to 4, sometimes 5, bars! It is extremely irritating and distracting to adjust the fan speed while driving.
2. Of late, the radio has also started misbehaving. The volume will reduce and drop to inaudible levels, only to come back to normal when I fiddle with the volume knob or change the station.
Has anyone else faced such issues? I am taking her to the workshop tomorrow and plan to show these issues to the SA, so any inputs here would be helpful...
Thanks in advance.

That car is a looker in grey, even my Vento is Pepper Grey. Wishing you (your wife rather) many happy miles ahead, hope you enjoy the car to its fullest!
Mind sharing the price

The radio is losing sound because of the low radio coverage in your area maybe?
Take it to the workshop for the climate control, that is weird. How old is your car? It might have developed an electrical problem. Do update us on the solution.

What a lovely-looking car! And so young to be "pre-worshipped."

It's first owners must have been very unappreciative!

Congratulations
