I think its the best looking hatch :thumbs up. I sure agree with him.

The international Polo with the blackened headlamps and those 5 spoke chunky alloys looks better than our Punto. But Indian Polo looks just about better than average - finds a place probably among the top 5 lookers.

Very disappointed to hear that Diesel is very sluggish :( I was expecting it to be very good & better than others being an German car & also very FE. What are the FE figures for diesel variant ?

You can get those parts online and fix it.

@avmaxfan: Like I said Polo looks a loot better in real than in photos. I sure do think it takes the best looking hatch crown from the Punto by just a bit.

Close call between the Polo and Punto.
Punto is sexier.
Polo is more masculine. Typical German no-nonsense car.

Punto for me - If its purely a matter of looks.

Seen both in real life and while I'll concede that the Polo is a bloody sexy machine, I still believe that the Punto is simply the most gorgeous hatchback on Indian roads.

But why to pay more after already paying premium for the car over other Japanese cars ? please:

I agree that the European Polo looks better than Indian punto, but I feel Indian Punto looks better than Indian Polo clap:

i think it is a close call between polo and punto in looks department. i am not sure to say which is better. the interiors of polo are miles ahead of punto .the engine of punto is much better than polo .rest others are almost same .i cant comment on the service and spares cost of polo .punto spares and service is quite easy on the pocket

The Indian Punto doesn't require any add-ons or mods to look good.
It looks best without any dresses or makeup:)
Also the shape and form of the car is uniform.

The Indian Polo is also a good looking but it needs make-up like smoked headlamps to look good.
and also the sharp design at the front doesn't continue till its rear. That is a design flaw. The rear lights just don't gel with the overall features of the car.

Four Polo's have been unloaded at our dealership. One Trendline, one Comfortline and two Highlines. No TD cars yet, maybe in a week or so.

I agree with others on the forum when I say the Indian Polo is a bit watered down image of the more sporty European version. But it still looks good, albeit not a stunner like the GP.

Me too. I think its superb. The right amount of class, elegance, flash and details. Nothing overdone. Very understated. I love it. The Punto is definitely younger and sexier. But my personal preference is for Polo.

Which cheaper Japanese car are you talking about? The only other 4 metre cars launched in India are Hyundai i20, Ford Fusion and Honda Jazz. The Jazz is expensive by a long margin.

Mods, is it possible to have a Polo vs. i20 vs. Punto vs. Ford Figo in sometime?? May be, incude the, Jazz and the Fabia and the now old Swift and call it the "Ultimate Hatchback Comparision"

Polo 1.2 highline pics


Even Highline gets 14" steel spare wheel instead of 15" alloys.


Decent boot space of 280 plus litres. Sill loading not high as in the Punto.


Plain Jane rear end, clean and simple. Lacks Fiat's muscular design flair.


rear three quarter clearly the best angle. Looks like a downsized golf.


Highline gets all 4 power window controls at driver's side (of course in addition to individual controls in respective doors.) Door locking/unlocking intuitive to use but only can be used from driver's side.


Highline dashboard just decently equipped. ABS and dual airnags are standard, so is the CD MP3 player. Decent sound quality, way better then the punto, close to fabia's "dance" audio player. No remote provided whatsoever. Comes with speakers on all 4 doors (total 4 speakers). Vanity mirror NOT standard even on highline.


Highline fabric, top class quality. Beige colour.


Wiper control stacks for front and rear wiper, not so good quality as that of fabia.


front end looks decent and clean, but we miss the dual smoked effect euro headlights. The polo is designed to appeal to average middle class buyer.

Stalom course not standard, just a sticker on the floor to claim superior road holding.


ARAI claimed mileage=17.2 kmpl for petrol.


highlight for 168 mm GC (read high GC). Speedbreaker is just a sticker.

1.2 3 pot motor is very compact and mildly vibrates on idle. Not so on k12m, kappa or i-vtec.


under bonnet insulation not provided on petrol. Looks cheap and bare. Even more incomplete than the item bombs.

Is it only me or that rear profile uncanningly resembles the old palio 1.6 GTX?

Driver's seat height and tilt/ telescopic steering is standard. The car is just about average, with nothing unique perhaps other than the VW badge and exterior finish. Interiors just about OK.
