Man! I like those decals!
Looks a little out of place on the Santro but will be quite a head turner on the Beat.
Would be more so on a black Beat!

Oops..sorry for not being clear.. I have seen this before and have commented on that too.. But the one that want is a vertical box instead of horizontal box, so those vertical boxes will be flat on to your wheel arch and parallel to your rear suspension. So you will have 2 boxes on both the sides and they will not interfere with anything else. If you had seen topolino's sub woofer box, it would be something similar to that. Generally this was and is very famous for maruti omni's.

Is it something like this?
I don't think such boxes are available off the shelf. Most of them are custom built. Contact any local car accessory shop guys.. They will make custom sized ones for you.

Re: Chevrolet Beat : Test Drive & Review

To all the Beat diesel owners, what sort of issues(if any) are you facing in the car, how's the FE & has anyone encountered problems due to 3 cylinders(engine oil consumption, seizure, etc)?

Also what's are the service intervals & how much does a paid service cost?

@superutp; thanks, posted there.

You are better off asking this question here
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/offici...review-32.html
since this is dedicated to the Diesel Beat.

Re: Chevrolet Beat : Test Drive & Review

Hi Guys,

Got my RC book(smart card) yesterday after about 3.5 months!! Also rectified the sound coming from the hatch lock. The technician came and hammered the lock latch ring that is present on the base(not door) inside by a few millimetres and the sound is gone.

I am yet to get the RORVM cowl. KROPEX guys say that I need to change the whole assembly :(

Congrats on the smart card. What do you mean by the technician came? Did you go to kropex or did someone come and fix it for you? I also have the same boot noise (I think atleast).

Ya Kropex sells only the whole assembly and not individual parts.

I had gone to Kropex to get my RC card. I requested the service guy to have a look at the boot and he hence rectified the sound. It is a common occurrence in BEAT and is easily rectified.

Re: Mileage Update

Another mileage update this time - 16.28kmpl (15.23 liters consumed for 248.4 b2b kms.) Now I am enjoying mileage conscious drive. 1400 to 1600 rpm upto 50 kmph in 4th gear or 1600 to 1800 rpm in 5th gear for 50 kmph plus or under 60 kmph wherever possible. My rpm limiter is at 2400. It feels like a sin if I ever goes beyond that limit for any gear change

Ok great, I wonder why they didnt fix the boot issue on my Beat during my first service when I clearly mentioned it to them. Need to go there again.

On a side note, everyone seems to be getting decent FE figures nowadays except for me. I have been practicing keeping revs lower than 2k or atleast 2.5k and yet my FE doesnt cross 12. A/C usuage has come down from around 80% to 60% and no benefits reaped yet!

As whiterabbit suggested to me sometime back, maybe its time for a soft ECU reset and a long highway drive!

Re: Chevrolet Beat : Test Drive & Review

After the soft ECM reset, I've got 16.1Kpl from FT to FT, all are short trips less than 25KMs w/o AC.

Dont worry dude, my mileage also varies from 10 (second fill) to a realistic 13(present) to a high 16(long drive mostly>200 kms)

Re: Chevrolet Beat : Test Drive & Review

Beat returns good FE if driven sensibly. Here are the FE figures that I recorded in different driving conditions w/o AC :
1. Crawling, Stop & Go City Traffic : 13.42 kmpl
2. Moving City Traffic : 16.63 kmpl
3. Highway (Speed 70 - 80 kmph) : 23.08 kmpl
4. Highway (Speed 80 - 100 kmph) : 21.17 kmpl
5. Highway (Speed 100 - 130 kmph) : 19.35 kmpl
