@Pacifica : The new Manza's websites are ready : High Band Web Site or Low Band Web Site
The high band site takes some time to load, but has nice pictures

DieselDon, many thanks for pointing me to the correct thread! Much appreciated. Don't know how I missed that one.

My Manza QJD has done 40K+ and I too am vexed by the unusually hard clutch, it's as hard as a Bolero/Sumo/Tata 407. Since it is a hydraulic system, bleeding it works for some time and then it's back to square one. Has anyone come across a more permanent solution.

Manza Quadrajet timing chain noise issue

My Manza has clocked 70K and recently started some noise when i start the engine , In 70K service i was told it was timing chain issue... Anybody else have the same issue?

The dealer has told it may be around 11K for the complete replacement for timing chain.

Should i be going for a change ? or can i get it checked at somewhere else ?

My Warranty and Extended warranty is also expired.

Please advise.

I could also use some advise on this please. Currently at 77k km's but no noise from the chain.

Recently Fiat announced timing chain change at 60k km's for their 90hp tuned 1.3l engines. Same engine is in Manza and SX4 but no timing chain change in schedule for either.

I am tempted to go for a change just thinking Fiat would know their engine better unless there is a difference between Fiat timing chain vs Tatas/ Marutis. Unlikely to be different for Tatas at least as I think Tata/ Fiat cars are assembled at Tata/ Fiat JV owned plant.

Re: Tata Indigo Manza : Test Drive & Review

The timing chain costs around 1300 or so. This was changed in my friend's punto and the labour should be around 1500 or so. Why is the SA quoting around 11K?

The 11K does not sound reasonable.

My local service station fellow says that its fine to use Castrol magnatec 10W40 for my manza qjet diesel.

However the manual says 5W40... Can someone please enlighten me on this? Is it really ok to 10W40?

Any other Manza owners are having this issue of Timing chain?
Even i felt 11K is not reasonable but the sound coming from engine is annoying and as per service center it is dangerous to run car with the issue...

Please help..

Not sure how much of the noise is coming. The chain can become lose, but to compensate the tensioners tightens the chain. However, if the chain gives away then there is a high probability screwing the engine head and pistons big time.

Sorry never had this issue (Touchwood ) in the past 24k kms but 11K looks like too high for a timing chain. Whats the breakup given?

I think 6K for chain and 5K for labour.

I was thinking of getting this checked at some other place (other than TATA service center) in bangalore, But not sure which place to go...

First question is it for sure timing chain issue? Which center was this diagnosis at? Maybe you should try a different center.

Akhil, first of all does Manza coming with a timing chain ? I own one and I think these come with timing belt. The timing chain like in my 3 litre DICOR safari is supposed to last the life of the vehicle !!

Coming back to your point, even assuming it is timing belt, seldom does it get spoilt before 70 K kms.

Anyway, I can recommend Stalin from EMM EMM motors at Banaswadi, even though it is TASS, this guy is sensible. PM me for his contact number .
