My dad owns a manza aura qjd but i get to drive it occasionally. so far done about 6k KMs. Getting a mileage of 15 in city with AC and 18-19 on highway.

Problems
1) replaced the driver side power window rotor under warranty. was making some noise when you roll it down half way.

2) the diesel tank flap does not open when one yanks the lever. loose wiring was the diagnosis. its been fixed three times :(

3) the right ORVM knob panel next to the driver has come out. workshop hasnt been able to replace the part since its not available

4) the biggest problem of the lot - was driving back to bangalore from goa when the lights stopped working. thankfully, it worked if one holds the light controls like you would when flashing someone (dont get other ideas; i mean the lights). drove like that for 30 kms and stopped in front of Tata showroom (Manickbag Automobiles) in Ankola. Called the GM (Mr. Ritesh Shetty) over phone. This being a sunday, none of the engineers were around. He was able to reach one of his technicians (Mr. vijay) who stays near by. Turned out to be another loose wiring issue. The wire connecting battery to the light control had come loose! The entire assembly is inside the steering, so I am damn sure it was not misuse which caused this problem.

I have notified our regular workshop about this problem. Hope others dont face it again.

Overall, niggles abound in the car. Could well be fixed with the next lot but it seems to me that these are QA issues which Tata has forced down our throats. Take all this into consideration before settling on the Manza.

I wish to thank Mr. Ritesh and let the higher ups in Tata know. The guy helped me out a lot. Please suggest how I can reach them.

Sigh, I fail to understand why Tata can't get it right, straight out of the box. It's been the same story with every new car from Tata. The giant leap that the Manza is, as a product, raised my expectations. It's terrible to hear of these niggles. In fact, it's these frequent li'l issues that keep Jap / Korean fans away from Tata's cars.

These are small niggle issues, they are very inherent in nature, as far Tata cars are concerned. Sometimes they are very much annoying.God knows when TML will fix up with all theses issues.

In my Indica I have seen that sometimes when I land from the speed-breaker or even from an elevated place I hear a sound of something touching the body. When I asked a local mechanic, he informed me that it is the normal case in most Indicas. The reason being that there is a bar (or rod) running between the front wheels. The gap between this bar and the body is very small. Also whenever this bar hits a big speed-breaker this bends a little which further reduces the gap to the body of the car. So, next time when I land from a speed-breaker even at low speeds (about 25-30kmph) this bar touches the body. So the remedy is whenever I hear the sound, I take it to him and he kind of pulls the bar down and this solves the issue till the next time.

Not sure if this is the same in Manza. I expect the Tatas to have rectified this in their new design.
One more update.
Past few days i was listening to the sound carefully. it seems like something covered with Rubber (may be Bush) is hitting the car body when the car is taken on hump at a speed.
One of the mechanic at KHT motors even told me the sound may be coming because of Shock absorber expanding suddenly after the car has just crossed the hump, felt it may be true as the sound comes just when the tyre is landing on the ground just after crossing hump. Experts please comment.

Wait for Manza

Hi Guys, Im going to wait till April when the BS IV Manza is launched. I would really appreciate if no furore or ruckus is created with what I have to ask next.

Linea was launched in Jan 09, Manza was launched with the same engine in October 09. T-Jet will be launched in Q2 this year in the linea.

TATA is known to launch anniversary models for its cars with certain upgrades. My question being , will the T-Jet find its way in the Manza if TATA launches its anniversary version this year.

If not the anniversary version any of you guys think the Manza will get the T-Jet as an upgrade. If anyone gets even a small whiff about this please let me know as I ll be deciding when to purchase depending on the BS IV and T-Jet launch .

Mods , request you to move this post if not appropriate for this thread.

Thanks.

Hi Guys,
I am facing a slight problem with my Manza. I think i have stated before in this forum too, My car radiator coolant leaks. I got this rectified and i guess Concorde replaced some tube which runs from the coolant tank to the radiator. Today just after returning from office i saw that the coolant was leaking and the coolant level had gone below the Minimum mark. I am going to call them tomorrow to get this rectified again but i fear that it may happen all over again. Why cant TATA get the basic QC right?

Does anyone feel the engine would have suffered some kind of damage because of this?

Question 2: Since the manza has a HPS, does the steering assist decrease when the AC is on ? I ask this because the HPS draws power from the engine and so does the AC - Please correct me if i am wrong, I feel that the steering becomes a little harder as i drive and this is at crawling traffic speeds too, Manza owners or owners of cars with HPS please feel free to comment on this.

Experts please advise

I agree. I was seriously considering buying a Magna for my wife, but after reading these reports, decided for an I-10 as I don't wan't her to be running around to the service station with me being away.

It's really sad that Tata cars are still plagued with the same issues which we had years ago.

Did you actually mean Manza instead of Magna or are you confusing Magna to be a Tata car ?

'Tata' to 'TATA' if it fails to improve the quality.

It is indeed sad to know that TATA cars, though promising, are still plaqued with quality issues. It is high time the company rectified them, else in this highly competitive environment, customers would bid 'Tata' to TATA.
I think the customers should unitedly approach the higher authorities ( may be even the chairman) with their issues.

Sad to hear about small problems being faced by manza owners. but being an owner of indica v2 dls model 2004-07 the car i tortured through inner himalyas for close to 90,000 kms over 3yrs and indigo tdi 2005-10 which was driven by my dad we personally didnot find any problem with cars at all..
the only thing we longed for was a good engine as it was really tiring driving indica without turbo which i eventually sold in 2007 and non refined tdi engine of indigo which we sold two days back and bought new indigo manza aura with abs ( call it mini innova).i hope and pray this new car will serve us like previous two..

Hey man its good to see that you are fan of Tata. After being using the Indigo and Indica for these many years you have opted again with Manza. Good thing to hear.Surely you will feel better with manza. I think it should be quadrajet right?

Congrats. I too have used an Indica DLA V2 for over 70K and never did she give me any issues. However reading about the numerous issues which the rest of the team members have faced decided on a I-10 as my wife would be using it and I don't see her running around circles trying to sort things out with Tata service guys.

My dad faced exactly same problem way back when Indica V2 was just launched. He had a Petrol variant as his company's car and was on a 600km trip when some biker pointed out that something was leaking from under the car while he was at a railway crossing.
I don't want to think or state the fact that TATA has not improved upon its quality in almost a decade but such niggling problems from a competent sedan surely puts a question mark on TATA. They can be pardoned for the past as those still were early days for Tata's non CVs but now after so many years and so many new cars and variants such incidents won't do any good to their reputation.
