Re: Fiat Grande Punto : Test Drive & Review

I think that unless you have a rear camera, the display is not really important. I have a reverse parking sensor with a separate display attached to the driver side corner on the dashboard. I never look at the display while reversing - preferring instead to check the mirrors. However, the system also has an audible alert and screams "STOP" when the distance to the obstruction is less that 0.4m. When it screams "STOP", I stop.

All in all, extremely happy with the car. No issues so far.

Hi Harshal,
I too went down the same route.
Since I need to be on calls frequently, much to Satya's dismay, I couldnt get rid of the OEM HU because of the B&M functionality.

Hence, I went for the best of the worst. Focal Compos, 10" sub and a CV 4 ch amp. I am pretty pleased with the set up. However, yes, the present set up can sound much better with any decent HU. e.g. I have Kicker Comps and JBL GTO ovals on my Spark with the CV amp and a Pio HU. Sounds as good as my Punto at 1/3 the price.

Alternatively, putting my stupid engineer hat on, B&M is not a integrated part of the HU. The HU only acts as the signal receiver/amplifier and the Steering controls for tracks/source/Vol just send some basic signals to the HU. I am sure most HU come with the adapter for these signal with relevant ports behind. One just needs to find some free time to identify which signal is via which wire and then create a harness for a Kenwood/Alpine etc HU and simultaneously provide the line in channel for the B&M input. Could be complex but I do not think that its impossible (purely from a engineer's perspective). The bigger question is, Who will bell the cat!

If I remember it correctly it's about INR 1,600.
The guy who introduced me to Fiat recently had a drunk biker ram into his car and the rear windscreen had to be replaced.

Wouldn't the price also depend on whether it's a model with rear defogger or not?

Re: Fiat Grande Punto : Test Drive & Review

^^ correct. Mine One is a 2011 Emotion Variant with rear defogger . The rear wiper is also damaged but IMO it should ;t cost more than 200 rupees ( just the Plastic Part , thankfully no damage to wiper motor). Additionally The glue and labor charges also needs to be factored in , so in hindsight i should be seeing at around 6-7 k of wallet damage.

Re: Fiat Grande Punto : Test Drive & Review

OK, The rear windscreen cost him 1100. Rear wiper 600. Why would it cost 6-7K?

Re: Fiat Grande Punto : Test Drive & Review

Hi, I got my Punto Ep 1.4 serviced yesterday. Now I noticed wherever AC starts, radiator fan also start along with AC. Radiator fan keep on running non stop until I switched off the AC. When spoke to SA, as per him as soon as ACC reach your desire temperature radiator fan will stop. This is working as design. But I never noticed this before.
Guys please assist. Are they did something wrong in my car?

I have completed 10000 kms with my Punto 90 HP. This came in just 110 days after purchase. I can't believe I've been doing around 90 kms per day for the past 3 1/2 months.

Its been an amazing experience so far, except for the first service experience. Till now- it let me down only on one occasion when the link rod came loose. Otherwise, its been gathering praise from everyone around- friends and family. The experience has become too sweet to resist after the ICE installation.

I'm really irritated with the OE HU + Blue&me integration though. An HU change might come in soon, when my account recovers from the last ICE drain. Initial plan was to go for performance mods after 10k, but that also has to wait.

Once again- Thanks to everyone here who helped with my purchase queries.

PS- Before someone asks, what did I gift the 90 for the 10k celebrations, its a Jopasu duster.

Re: Fiat Grande Punto : Test Drive & Review

Sign of changing dealer/company attitude or changing times?

My father had gone to Hyson Motors, Thrissur to have a look at the Punto dynamic version.
- He was not pushed to consider a Tata car (have to admit they didn't do that earlier either, when I bought my car)
- The dealer has been following up quite regularly for our decision
- My father even got a call from Fiat India the other day to ask if he has made a decision on the car purchase

If Fiat India is following up with potential customers directly, that makes me happy since it is a sign that they are beginning to take things seriously. Also, the fact that the dealer seems to be keen on selling Fiat cars makes me hopeful that they will open a Fiat exclusive dealership.

Personally, I feel Hyson is one of the worst dealers. They never perform any of the jobs given to them completely and have always managed to mess up my car every time I went to them. The CRM was high-handed, and behaved as if I was asking him to give his house to me for free. After my last visit there (sometime in early 2012), I decided not to even go through that road. One thing I noticed is that I never get a feedback call if I go to Hyson, while I always got a feedback call from Fiat when I go to Concorde.

May be its useless asking people of feedback about Hyson. I bought my car from Hyson after their service guys promised that they are opening a service centre in my hometown. A year later, that rude CRM sitting in their Thrissur office arrogantly replied that they never had such plans.

Have you gone to their service station in Thrissur or elsewhere?

That's a trademark of all FIAT cars. I guess there is no problem. The fan is always on when the car is running. Only the fan speed increases when the AC compressor comes on and therefore it becomes audible. We FIAT'ans call it the tornado effect.

Cheers

Thrissur. Their main workshop at Puzhakkal, as well as their Body shop near LuLu (which in my opinion is the WORST).
