To answer your question. Yes parking lights can be turned on even without the ignition key slotted in. That's how you see so many cars parked in the road sides having their park lights on without anyone inside.

My fuse box should be dry - gave it for a wash around 10 days ago but he didn't wash the engine bay. |
Do check the fuse box for moisture deposition if any!

Yes it does switch ON without the need of key amd ignition being On.

2) There's a 'tick' sound everytime I switch on and turn off the main headlights( not the parking lights) - somewhere from behind the driver side fusebox. Is this normal and is it from the relay ? |
It could be the relay that is clicking when it gets the power.
Check the fuse once.

@Sriram - Even my car having same problem now, Rust in the hatch door (right side bottom most part). Car is of 2010 model. |
I judiciously wipe all the door edges despite that i have got it in the rear doors, not such issue in the hatch lid yet. I seriously doubt the quality of paint job done at the factory.
Unless its manufacturing defect EUROP car will not accept to fix the problem, so no point in asking Extended warranty guys.
Plan#1: Ask body shop guys to inspect, take pictures of rusted areas, Send to FIAPL Pune and get approval to get repaired in extended warranty.
Plan#2: If plan#1 fails try to see if can create a case to repair the door in regular insurance which is applicable till feb 2015.

Yes. If you happen to turn off the ignition of the car and the parking lights were still on, they go off. Move the control stalk to OFF and then ON to get back the parking lamps.

This is usually heard for a lot of electrical operations such as the power windows, rear demister, etc. Not sure if you have noticed, if you hold down the power window switch even after the window has reached end of travel, the relay cuts off power to the motor. It is a safety measure so you don't fry the motor or kill something within the electrical system.
This ain't no
SCOOP or
NEWSFLASH. Just an article from
Motorbeam that might help some Fiat Fans get some much needed boost. :)
105 BHP Punto MJD clap: P.S - I am not trying to promote Petes or any other after market ECU remaps. Just an article that has some '
Real Time Data' for all the Punto owners to relate to.

Some more data then - :D
Charts on the top are for my Punto 90hp with the RD dual channel box. And the bottom one is for KarthikK's 90hp with a TOT remap (He is running on a different tune now though!).
At the wheels -
Assuming transmissions losses similar to stock figures - my assumption is around 110hp, 260 Nm from the RD box.

Cool!
Sorry to nitpick and go OT here, I am seeing a surge in replies regarding the complaints in the 90HP Fiat Linea thread on the timing chain + oil consumption problem.
Now with the blue box (Pete's) on this engine, I don't know what will happen and how frequently one would need to service the car plus change the timing chain.

I will say that the numbers are impressive only when compared to the stock car. Look around and its a different story. Forget a 90Bhp VW Polo diesel, the Swift diesel takes about a second more than a souped up GP. Just like Suzuki buying/contract manufacturing engines from Fiat, it is time Fiat started sourcing that sweet Suzuki gearbox for the Punto.

I cannot agree more with you
Sandeep. In fact, if you look at the acceleration figures posted by Motorbeam, it is :Shockked::
I can only imagine how a Peted Swift DDIS or Polo 1.5 TDI acceleration will look like. Fiat seem to have got the Gearbox & the Gear ratios horribly wrong to say the least. :Frustrati
How much of R&D or cost is involved for FIAT to get this tune as OEM on 90HP ?
Yes, Swift is made of Plastic and Punto is a Tank. But in good hands, a regular Swift DDIS can run circles around a Souped up 90HP Punto.
I'm no expert but I feel that if FIAT can just source the gearbox from Maruti, even the regular 75HP MJD Punto will be a completely different car.
Guys I need your help with my Grande Punto 1.4 E-PK.
Today I noticed water dripping down somewhere from a 'place' just after the engine guard. Frequency is like a drop per minute.
Here are couple of pics for your reference. Is this something usual?
Note : I have serviced my car at Fiat A.S.S this month itself and had personally checked for any leakage along with the SA and technicians.
Being winter, it should be condensation from the exhaust. Nothing to worry.

True, noting to worry about. But if it was condensation from the exhaust, it sould have collected just underneath the exhaust pipe tip and not under the engine guard. This is no doubt condensation water, but that from the AC. The air blowing over the AC condenser coils becomes cool and moisture in it precipitates. This is collected from the bottom and drained outside the car through a flexible pipe somewhere near the firewall.

A/C condensate water it is.
Nothing to worry as it is not engine oil or gearbox oil leakage.

Next time, drive without switching on the AC for about 10 Kms or so.
Then check up, after parking for a while.

It's most likely the a/c condensate, happens all the while with my Punto. But do take a close look after moving the car ,or feel it with your hands, and make sure it isn't oil or coolant to be sure.
Coolant will leave a reddish mark on the floor after evaporating.
