I echo with your views on placement of turn indicators low. Placing turn indicators at such low positions like in Syros, Hyryder, Grand Vitara is an ergonomically bad design as per my perspective also.
The turn indicators placed low are not visible and in Indian road conditions you can't have a lot of gap to see the turn indicator placed close to bumpers. This definitely results in abrupt braking even for me and when I have Hyryder or Grand Vitara in front of me I try to leave some distance to be able to see their turn indicators and eventually that gap gets occupied by some 2 wheeler and mostly autorickshaw and blocking view again.

This 1.0 Turbo petrol DCT is definitely not fuel efficient. I reset trip meter before my test drive and after about 8 kms of test drive I could see fuel efficiency of only 7.5 kmpl. The traffic was very light and most of the time I was driving at 40 kmph without braking too many times.

I have not seen any Syros actually on the road in Hyderabad in past 1-2 weeks. The SA says waiting period of 2 months which I feel is not right for Syros. There may be a few takers only upto HTK+ variants after which the car loses in looks department to Sonet and big brother Seltos. If I am spending anything close to ₹14 lakh ex-showroom looks start mattering and at that price point I will prefer Sonet, Seltos or Creta over this. Syros is probably only a work horse type of car for me. If I buy one (the chance of this happening is very rare) and once I park I will not look back or gaze at the car in parking lot.

Syros bookings opened around 1st of Feb. Only 20k bookings in 24 days for a new car that was marketed as VFM with loads of space offerings seems to be on the lower side.

I am yet to see a Syros on the road except couple of test drive cars. I wonder how many bookings are turning

I also expressed interest to buy Syros before launch as the car seemed great with compromise on the exterior looks. Kia did not disclose price before and as I am following my own principle - to book a car only after knowing feature list, variants, price list and actually seeing the variant that I want to buy I did not book when pre-booking window opened. The SA told me there is waiting period of 2 months for Syros which lowered my interest even further.

When prices were revealed on 1st February, the prices of variants above HTK(O) lost on VFM quotient for me. Overall, I lost interest in Syros in less than a month and even test drive did not make the car feel special to me. I could hear engine whine inside the cabin and this noise did not appeal to me (like the sound of 1.5 Turbo petrol revving).

For a company that once used to sell nearly 15k Seltoses a month, getting 20k bookings in a month is not exactly something to write home about. Although to be fair, given the ridiculous price, incoherent looks and cut-throat competition, I think it goes to show Kia haven’t exactly lost Midas’ touch yet.

For reference, the Sonet did 50k in 2 months. The Syros will complete 2 months on Monday.

Re: Kia Syros Review

67-33 split means that there is still a market for customers who opt for diesel for a compact car such as this one
No point in simply killing of diesels in the name of 'environment'

Now that people are more attentive to the safety ratings, Kia is competing with Kylaq, Nexon and 3XO in this segment which has 5 star safety rating. So when the safety ratings are out (if its 4 or 5). Kia can expect more sales.

Buyers can overlook the exterior design only with good safety ratings, it can also justify the price to some extend. So interesting times ahead for Kia and potential Syros buyers.

That would be the case if it was a USP, but there are already more affordable options with valid 5-star ratings. At the Syros’ price (relative to the competition) I think anything less than 5 stars would be not just suboptimal but a deal-breaker for many. That said I would be very surprised if it earns less than five stars.

Re: Kia Syros Review

Affordable options with valid 5 star rated cars are available, agreed. But there are has some minor drawbacks

Nexon - Poor QA/QC and unreliable service quality
Kylaq - Rear seat is comfort for 3 medium built persons
3XO - Smallest Boot space in the segment

I feel considering Syros counters these 3 issues to a large extend, company has priced it at premium. Since none of the Kia cars had got more than 3 stars, it can aim for 4 stars at best.

Re: Kia Syros Review

I got message from Kia dealership to complete my Syros buying and get the car at introductory price before Feb end.

This looks like another marketing tactic from Kia to push people to buy Syros. On one hand the dealer said 2 months of waiting period and now this message is giving impression that units are available for delivery. As usual Kia India wants to keep increasing car prices every 3-4 months as if we are still in COVID era. I am yet to see Syros on the road. If we wait I believe the higher variants would be available on discounts from festival season this year.

Introductory price ? Are planning to increase the price ??
Did you get the message from the dealer or KIA ? The sales numbers of Feb and March will really say the actual bookings of Syros I feel.

Congratulations on the new vehicle.

How is the demand for Syros in general with your dealer? What does the SA sale about the availability of the vehicle? Does it have long wait time??

Seems to have created a decent buzz. The waiting period depends on the variant. Ours being manual, there isn’t much delay.
