I recenty drove a friend's altis, which has cruise control on a separate stalk as well. While it isn't on wiper stalk still felt little cumbersome to have any updates to set speed or setting cruise control. I prefer to have the controls on the steering wheel. Are there any advantages to having cruise control on wiper stalks ?

I am a Slavia owner - and I don't think it's that big of a problem to engage the cruise control. The stalk on/off takes about a couple of tries in getting used to, as does the button like thing on the side to increase/decrease the speed. I think the learning curve is short enough for it not to be a worry.

I'm quite happy with the mileage that I'm getting out of the Kylaq. Today morning, I drove through an hour and a half of Delhi traffic, with the AC on for every moment. I averaged close to 11, which is very close to the mileage I used to get on the much smaller Tiago.

I find the AC very comfortable as well. I haven't experienced the problems that have been discussed for the Slavia and the Kushaq but can say with certainty that they've been solved in the Kylaq.

Lastly - my two cents on the cruise control. I can only compare to the Hyryder which has the cruise control settings on the steering wheel. In comparison, Skoda / VW implementation is actually rather convenient and I find it is very easy to get used to. The arrangement of the resume / set buttons is very easy, in my opinion.

Congratulations on the new ride. Are there any specific advantages of the cruise stock being on the wiper stalk? Just asking out of curiosity. I believed it's always easier to keep hands on the steering while driving and in skoda's cases you will need to remove one hand each time you engage or update or resume the cruise speed. Correct me if I am wrong in any of the observations.

Seems Skoda is deliberately not prioritizing production of CLASSIC variants and they are giving false delivery dates only to be followed by extension of dates. Pathetic state of affairs when they promised delivery would be based on booking date priority.

Deliberately yes but it is done by all manufacturers, the cheapest variant makes them the least amount of money, it is there just to claim that their car starts from xx.xx rs. The false dates are given by the dealers in most cases. They are hoping you will switch to a higher variant after waiting for a while.

So, I have booked a Signature AT Lava Blue. Current waiting time for this variant is projected to be 3-6 weeks.

I plan a couple of upgrades to it.
1)Was going to go for the Skoda approved android unit upgrade but there seem to be better alternatives in similar price range (Pioneer). So I will probably go for an aftermarket one.
2) Autodimming IRVM
3) Possibly upgrade to electronically folding ORVMs

I find rest of the Signature variant perfect, or in some ways even better than the higher variants; Ac controls for eg. Also prefer the normal dash to the digital one.

My question is : can anyone recommend reputed /recommended people in Pune to fix the infotainment system and for the mirror upgrades?

The buttons on the Indicators stalk are as easy to use as the Indicator itself. I find no need to take my hand off the steering to push the set button once I've reached the speed i wish to maintain. And you can just leave the upper switch to have the cruise control "on" all the time, that basically makes the cruise control engagement a one click process, much easier than most other cars I've tried.

The Kylaq's TSi engine is designed for 95 octane fuel which means you will never get into a state of early combustion which can cause knocking which inturn impacts the durability of the engine as well as the fuel economy. If I own any of these TSi engines ever, the only fuel I'll ever add to it will be XP95.

Hello, the lowest mileage I’ve encountered is in a mix of heavy traffic & short commutes (less that 3km)
In my early morning drives to the gym/park i have observed mileage to be around 6kmpl. Most of my commutes are less than 5km most of the times as home is very close to my place of business.

Yes sir, I did tank up with XP95 & felt the throttle response was more crisp & felt it was a bit more lively. Will stick on to this fuel as much as possible

To Kylaq AT owners - when you are slowly releasing or engaging breaks or in half break kind of situations, do you feel a noise coming from breaks. Something that feels like break pads rubbing against the disks? Is it normal? Will it go away after a few hundred kms or should I talk to service team about it?

I had the same issue in my Slavia 1.0 AT - it's a rough grinding/screeching noise when you brake/half brake. It goes away after a few hundred km after the brake pads are "set".
