I’m curious to know what kind of insurance premium quotes you guys are getting for the Kylaq. I was looking at the Prestige AT model and wanted to include all the add-ons to see how high the premium would go for three years of own-damage coverage plus three years of third-party coverage on PolicyBazaar. I ended up getting a quote of approximately INR 73k, which is still lower than the ~INR 80k Skoda quoted (I haven’t tried negotiating yet).

Also, is it worthwhile to purchase insurance from an outside, reputable company like Tata AIG, or is it better to stick with in-house insurance? Could anyone share their experience and guidance regarding what a decent premium quote would be? I’m open to all the add-ons.

For my Hyundai i10 I have insurance from New India Assurance, we recently had a minor accident but the claim process itself was quite painful and they did not support cashless claims at any of the garages, which I felt was a big negative!

Re: Skoda Kylaq Review

Test drove the Kylaq Signature + (AT) and Sonet HTX DCT & Sonet iMT.

The Kylaq AT is the best car to drive amongst the three. The dynamics, supsension and braking felt great. The price quoted is 15.68 OTR from Raja Skoda, Mahadevpura.

Not happy that even the 2nd top model of the Kylaq doesn't have a rear wiper and washer.

I was quite surprised by how intuitive the Sonet iMT felt. It felt completely natural to drive. My wife, however, didn't quite like it and felt it was a compromise over a proper AT. I quite agree with that. It is neither a proper manual or an automatic.

The price however was quite appealing. 13.5L OTR at Epitome Kia, Whitefield. The price really makes it hard to ignore and still is an option.

The Sonet HTX DCT felt good too. The gear shifts were super smooth and performance was good too. Still no rear wiper and washer.

However, the Kylaq was slightly better to drive. Also, the Kylaq felt better put together.

Any other options that should be considered? My budget is 15L and ideally I wanted to make a purchase little below that so that I have something left for EW, Service packs, etc.

So I had come across this when I was reading the brochure for the extended warranty and the brochure has much more details and has this table in it too.

Skoda Kylaq Review-kylaq-extended-warranty-details.png

From what I understand the above mentioned plans provide essentially the same coverage and exclusions. The only difference is how long the warranty lasts and how many kilometers are covered. The 4‑year plan ends at 125,000 km, while the 5‑year plan covers you up to 150,000 km. You pay more if you buy the extended warranty later (i.e. after the first year), but the coverage itself is otherwise the same.

Also please read the details about the wear and tear items. Certain items like the manual clutch disc, pressure plate, release bearing, brake pads, wiper blades, etc., are classed as normal “wear and tear.” This means the warranty generally won’t pay for replacements unless a premature failure is clearly due to a manufacturing defect (which can be difficult to prove).

This is Skoda’s exclusions list, that are not covered because they’re considered consumable or prone to natural deterioration:

- Clutch discs, pressure plates, release bearings
- Brake pads, brake discs, brake drums
- Shock absorbers and suspension ball joints
- Wiper blades, bulbs, fuses, belts
- Rubber seals, glass, or lenses that degrade over time

Overall their warranty cover is good and you should definitely take one, but I have read some stories about the car being covered under the warranty but their manual transmission would fail and the showroom would deny coverage as per the company terms and conditions.

Re: Skoda Kylaq Review

Took Test Drive (TD) of Kylaq. Interestingly for TDs dealer had auto in Signature+ (not top model Prestige). The manual model is available in Prestige.

The Delhi OTR prices are competitive-

Base Manual ES 7.89 OTR 9.00
Signature AT ES 10.59 OTR 12.70

ES Ex showroom OTR-On the road. Above includes extended warranty.

Ride & handling are superb, fit and finish are good. I loved the cornering ability. Gives huge boost to ones confidence. There is a slight learning curve as I'm coming from a Honda 4 cylinder NA engine.

Being a turbo, mileage is very sensitive to throttle inputs. I got < 10kmpl. Seat bolstering is very good.

Signature+ AMT 3 pcs are available with the dealer- so maybe non-base stocks are readily available.

I am new to Skoda, so still figuring out what's possible from someone who might have done it. Kylaq Signature is the shortlisted car for me at the moment.
Skoda will do it for you as it is part of their official accessories, that is what i got to know from the salesman and it is also listed on skoda’s website as a part of accessories offered by Skoda.

The HTX variants of the Sonet turbo-petrol and diesel do get the rear wash-wipe. There has been a feature revision somewhere in the month of Aug-2025 and were included(ater a lot pf criticism). Please don’t tell me that they’ve deleted it in 2025!

Re: Skoda Kylaq Review

The Skoda Accessories - DHC Infotainment System - Android 13 - 4GB/ 64GB - with 2 USB Ports

The reverse camera at least looks way better and full screen, Vs the official Visteon Head unit and Factory "DoorDarshan" Camera on the Top end models.

Checked out the Kylaq this weekend and I totally agree with you. This car is the correct balance between legroom and boot space.

For a change I sat in the rear with passenger seat set to my height (5’10”) with more than enough room to spare and I still had ample room in the back.

This is what the Kushaq should have been from the start, quality fit and finish are a level above the Kushaq. Front and rear seats are easily best in segment in terms of comfort, bolstering and under thigh support - no doubts about it.

Steering wheel, console, armrest, buttons etc. everything feels premium and well put together. Drivers seat felt great with everything in reach. Doors close with a reassuring thud that is missing in the Kushaq.

This will effectively kill the Kushaq 1.0. No reason to buy the Kushaq unless you’re going for the 1.5 firecracker!

Škoda has a winner if it can “Elevate” the ASS.

Re: Skoda Kylaq Review

Test drove the Kylaq Prestige AT and experienced similar driving character as Kushaq - simply the best of the lot space management. Surprisingly, wifey claimed better back seat comfort than Kushaq.

Per dealership, our car is in transit and they have shared the VIN (it's Feb 2025 make). Checked Acko and PolicyBazaar for insurance. Got quote from PB for Tata AIG 3+3 insurance at 56k with all possible addons, except Tyre protector. I can't make up my mind on getting PPF applied, any pointers to help decide would be nice.

I got 56k (all incl) quote from PB for Tata AIG 3+3 policy, with all possible addons, except the Tyre protector. I had entered ex-showroom price of 14.40L and it calculated IDV based on 95% of ex-showroom price. I have claimed thru Tata AIG in past and had seamless and transparent experience.

yeah this make more sense, I was just trying to see how high can the quote even go. But a 95% IDV of ex-showroom is more realistic. I will try and negotiate with the showroom as its typical for them to over quote and then give a discount. If not I think I will also go with Tata AIG. Thanks for your response on the claims bit that was helpful
