Would like the members to weigh in whether is it okay or not.

Thank you
No payment (apart from the initial booking) should be made before PDI.

Hello Rahul, congratulations on getting the allotment. Regarding the PDI fundamentally I strongly believe that you should absolutely see the car physically before you do any further payment other than the booking amount that you have already transferred.

I has something similar happen to me where the dealer / sales guy was pushing was payment before PDI (Navi Mumbai Showroom). I did drop an email regarding this marking Skoda India, eventually after a lot of push back from my side and after sending an email to cancel the booking the dealer buckled, but this overall initial interaction left me quite disappointed and I ended up re-booking with another dealer here in Mumbai who is much more transparent. But that means I am back in the queue, which is fine by me.

Now, regarding the dealer's claim that Lava Blue production has not started this is absolutely false! My previous dealer contacted me again last week, stating that a Lava Blue Prestige AT car has been allotted to me. He even suggested putting the past behind us and offered to accommodate me by assigning this car to me. I believe the total delivery timeline would be another two weeks from now.

However, I have zero trust in them. My interaction with the other dealer was much more professional. I don’t think our transaction or relationship ends once you get the car this is a long-term, ongoing relationship. For your peace of mind, to ensure transparency, and to secure your full rights, I strongly recommend that you push for a PDI before paying even a single rupee more.

One thing I can suggest is to ask the dealer or sales representative to put their stance on the PDI issue in an email. You’ll likely see how quickly their tone changes.

Re: Skoda Kylaq Review

He’s trying to make you anxious, lose hope/make it look like a delay on you owning the car you want in desired color, trying to sell off what he already has which probably is ordered in anticipation by him or cancelled by another customer.

Unfortunately, this is not professional and it is classic dealership behavior to convert merchandise into cash sooner for them. This is also not trustworthy behavior.

Stick to the color you want, do a PDI when the vehicle is available without paying the whole amount and after you are happy, you buy the car you are confident with.

Simply tell them: “you’ll wait for your color when it’s available”.

For a new vehicle from an automaker like Skoda who isn’t having they best in sales at the moment, it shouldn’t be more than a month(or two max), since its Skoda’s *premium* color I believe

Re: Skoda Kylaq Review

Thank you guys for the reply,
Just wanted to clarify that I'm Okay with White as well and as this car will be parked most of the times outside & used primarily as a city car, White is also fine by me. During booking I couldn't decide due to excitement
Coming to the PDI part, Although I've read in many forums not to release the payment till the PDI is done, but had given in due to excitement.
Have informed the dealer that I'll transfer the amount only after PDI & VIN allocation.
Thank you.

Hey, thanks for the info. Could you advise which dealer did you finally go ahead with and if they are allowing third party PDI?

Re: Skoda Kylaq Review

Not writing a big story here.

Became intrigued by the Kylaq just because of a MotorInc video that I watched last night.

So I went along to see it this morning at a showroom near home.

Feels good. Fit and finish is very good. The new car smell inside the cabin reminded me powerfully of my beloved Yeti. Even though the materials are different. The boot space for a small SUV like this, is huge.

Sitting inside, the front seats are wonderful, comfortable and spacious. There is plenty of arm room and the layout inside is very nice. There is seat height adjust even for the front passenger- this was a feature in all the early Skoda cars - the Yeti had it as did the original Fabia and of course the Superb and Octavia and Laura and all. The Kylaq has Electric Seat adjust which is a good thing.
Some of the clever touches which were there in the Yeti are missing - like the fold flat rear, the removable rear seats and AWD and all that.

But then this is a new world. A 3 Cyl 115 bhp 1250 kg 3995mm pocket rocket which does not look small at all, even in comparison with its bigger brother the Kushaq.
Personally I would always prefer the smaller and lighter vehicle.

I did not drive the vehicle - but couldn’t help wondering if they did bring in a more expensive premium version like a VRs Trim with that 1.5 litre turbo engine and AWD, the power to weight ratio would make it a real Hot Hatch on stilts.

And its proportions are perfect for city driving and parking.

I am, most emphatically, much much more in favour of these vehicles with a smaller and lighter footprint than these big heavy ponderous humongous montrous sized things.

So it’s a no brainer that a car like this constantly appeals to me.

Re: Skoda Kylaq Review

Went to showroom to check out the Kylaq. Took my Kushaq Ambition 1.0, so that I get the closest comparison possible. And after the MotorInc episode, had a few specifics I wanted to check.

Performance: Roughly the same. But, the turbo lag appeared to be lesser in the Kylaq. The torque converter's upshifts were definitely smoother. The creep mode has been mellowed down. In my Kushaq, in bumper to bumper traffic, I use the brake pedal to control the forward movement. Not in the case of Kylaq.

Ride: Better in Kylaq. Both, my Kushaq Ambition and the TD Signature Plus variant had 16 inch wheels, and I could tell that the Kylaq has a better, more comfortable ride.

Space: Obviously, lesser in Kylaq. You can easily notice the difference. Not much in the front seat, but definitely while sitting in the rear seat, one can feel the lesser legroom. Not a deal braker, because I could sit comfortably sit behind my driving position (my height is 183 cm / 6 ft). If you sit in both cars, Kushaq is more airy and can be called an upgrade over the Kylaq.

In all, Skoda has corrected, fine tuned the existing Kushaq and presented it in a smaller package. Two thumbs up

Regarding the variants distribution, Skoda should show some urgency and fix their mistakes. The gap between the variants is huge and more variants can be easily made available in between. For example, introduce one between Signature Plus and Prestige. Just add, rear wiper and paddle shifters. Also, give the sunroof as an option, in every variant. There is no non sunroof option in your top variant.

Hi I had initially booked the Kylaq on day 1 with Dr. Auto Nerul Navi Mumbai who gave me a hard time about the PDI, just last week I found out that the dealership is no longer with Dr. Auto it is now owned by Garnet Motors who apparently also Mercedes dealership. I spoke with the new management and they are much more receptive to customer requirements and understand how important in person PDI are. Atleast the person that I spoke with last week seemed very empathetic and had promised me that they are doing a retraining of the entire sales staff. So if you haven't booked you could still explore this as an option.

Anyway, I digress. My current booking is with Mody Skoda Andheri West. So far atleast from our initial discussion there has not been any outright push back for PDI. They are fine with third party PDI too, but they said that they will not allow to attach third party OBD scanner. I am fine with no OBD scans as its a completely new lot and any software issue etc could or should be fixed via updates etc. Plus I have booked the Presitge AT in Lava Blue so I doubt it would used as a test drive unit.

Now when the actual car gets allocated lets see if the sales guy stays true to his word. Fingers crossed.

I booked on 2nd Dec when booking started and still no news from dealer on the expected delivery date.

Dealer confrimed likely delivery for Lava Blue by end of month. Went for test drive with wife (who will be driving the car mostly) and though the drive was lovely as expected, she did not like the interiors and felt it too be too small to her liking.

Finally we ended up booking Virtus 1.0 Topline AT instead of kylaq in same Lava Blue color. Need to shell out ~1.2 L more + loss of SVP as inaugral offer after all the discounts for 2025 virtus but at least wife is happy now !!

I had looked for it too and vaguely remember finding a page with a discount on accessories if you spent over 10,000. It was a minor discount.

Since I was no where close to that amount, I didn't pursue it. Got the basics from the dealer - mud flaps, mats, and scuff plates, and thought I'd figure the rest out later.

Re: Skoda Kylaq Review

I made the booking for Signature+ AT (Olive Gold), on the day when number of bookings breached 10K. Simple set of conditions from the family: budget is 15L on-road, big NO for Sedans from my better half, color must be son's choice. We already have an Ertiga for long trips and this will be used as a replacement for our 10yr old Swift for weekend getaways. A big fan of VW Polo, after having driven the car quite a lot, Skoda's TSI was almost always going to win me over, though I seriously considered Venue & 3XO. Having seen so many people talk about the lesser than optimal rear legroom, I had to see it for myself. I couldn't get to the showrooms for 2 weeks after display vehicles were available. Got a call from dealers that car has been allotted and now I've to TD it before I decide to keep the booking or not. Did so last weekend and had pretty decent TD as well.

Visited PPS Mysore Road for the TD as I stay in the vicinity, though my booking is at Tafe Access HSR. Didn't reveal this to them though. Kylaq was most sought after at the showroom, with at least 4 parties looking at the car and getting in-out when we reached, and 3 more while I was waiting for TD. It was approaching lunch time and people started leaving and we were almost left alone with the display car. Wife was delighted by the seats, front and rear. We really sit 'in' them. I'm 6ft (183cm) and didn't see rear legroom as a big issue.

Driver's seat at my driving position.
Skoda Kylaq Review-whatsapp-image-20250218-11.36.53-am.jpeg

As I had waited for people to leave, could take a longer than usual TD (~5kms). Tried the different driving modes for decent stretches and start-stop traffic as well. As others here have pointed out, there is a slight lag when moving from standstill, but not a hindrance.

I'm definitely going to keep my booking and I've been informed to expect delivery in the coming week. Sales person from Tafe Access has OKed PDI and am expecting to check allotted car soon. Shall keep updating details here.

Extended warranty? Always!
The difference is how soon you purchase the warranty, if you purchase the warranty within a year, it's a bit cheaper, and if you purchase it after 12 months, it's a bit expensive.
