Is it possible to change that camera and fix a better quality one from the dealership?

Re: Skoda Kylaq Review

Just watched review from MotorInc. Karthik in his earlier videos for the 2.0 cars never seem to be a fan of Skoda-VWs specially on the 1L TSI engine and transmissions. He came out pretty impressed from the Kylaq.

Good to know that the brand has worked on interior elements on the Kylaq along with the mechanicals.

With no confirmation from VW India on the sibling for Kylaq, I feel Skoda should work on a 1.5 TSI vRS for the Kylaq launching next year at say 16-17L ex showroom.

Re: Skoda Kylaq Review

I happened to take yet another test drive of the Kylaq yesterday along with my parents and wanted to update a couple of points that we noticed only then and this is primarily regarding the rear seats.

1. Though the rear seats by themselves are comfortable in terms of under-thigh support and recline (a little upright but was very comfortable), the legroom can definitely be a problem if you've a family of tall people. The SA was around 5'10 I assume and he had kept the front seats a little relaxed and in that position, I tried the rear seats. The legroom was definitely tight. If someone taller than 6 happens to sit in front, my legs would definitely rub against the front seat-back.

2. The central tunnel makes it a strict 4 seater and even worse, the rear AC vents protrude towards the rear. This made it impossible for anyone to even slide from one side of the rear seat to the other as the foot definitely will get stuck.

3. Another point is, even though I did read that the AC is better than Kushaq, at 21 degrees and in the Auto mode, it just felt comfortable enough. For reference, setting 26 in my Altis felt equivalent to setting 21 in the Kylaq.

Still, the Kylaq is a super solid option in the CSUV segment that is definitely hard to resist

Just realised the importance of taking multiple test drives of any car that one is looking for. Different road conditions, different times of the day, and even from different showrooms if possible - this gave me a lot more insight about all the cars that I test drove.

Re: Skoda Kylaq Review

I got a chance to test drive the Skoda Kylaq AT version yesterday in Chennai. A short 12km ride through the bustling traffic of Chennai OMR and the Radial Road. The team at the showroom has been very good; they followed up till I went down for test drive and were accommodative of many last-minute changes in the schedule. Shout out to Rahul from Kun Skoda

These are my initial impressions,
  1. Absolutely smooth engine. Both in terms of noise and vibrations. Excellent work by Skoda in controlling NVH levels
  2. Not once did the gearbox hunt for the right gear. It always was slotted in the right gear and the shifts were almost unnoticeable. The engine gearbox combo seems to work better in this car than in Kushaq. They pull cleanly and builds up speed without any fuss
  3. The car does not surge forward when you move from idle position like cheaper automatic cars do
  4. The fit and finish looked good and no complaints on that front. Hard plastics are present, but that's the case in all cars in this and next higher price segment
  5. Strictly for 4 passengers, a kid can squeeze in the middle, but not for long distances (unless they are being punished)
  6. The boot space is decent for a car in this segment, but saying it is 400 liters plus is just number gymnastics, like Ola's claim* (*excluding China)
  7. Having an electronic parking brake and auto hold feature would have been really good considering this will mostly be used as a city car
  8. When they pride on developing this car for India first, they should have definitely swapped the stalk position. I am VW owner, but I feel having the indicator stalk on the left side is counter intuitive as it forces you take the hand from the gear shifter (not a big problem in automatic version, but nevertheless). Also, the cruise control should be on the steering wheel instead of the stalk
  9. Some empty buttons above the HVAC controls, not very aesthetic
  10. The reverse camera is a joke. No two ways about it. And missing blind spot cameras, not able to project the navigation on to the MID, and few such nice to have features will definitely hurt their numbers
  11. Having the lock button in the center console is not very intuitive, when there are no other door controls there

Overall, an excellent car for a small family.
  1. Is it a driver's car? - yes
  2. Is it a fun car like the GT TSi (the 4 cylinder one)? - No
  3. Will you regret buying it? - Not if its majorly for ferrying you, your spouse and kids
  4. Is it fairly priced? - Maybe - definitely lacks some features that are useful and are present in comparable cars in this segment

Kylaq Standard Warranty – 3 years (Free)

Extended Warranty – Can be purchased to extend the warranty to 4- or 5-years total (i.e., 1 or 2 additional years).

That makes it 5 years of warranty The cost is similar to Kushaq.

Post this Anytime Warranty
This can be purchased after the standard or extended warranty expires.
It adds 1 year/20,000 km at a time, allowing you to extend up to a total of 8 years or 150,000 km, whichever comes first.
However as of now Skoda site does not mention Kylaq as eligible for anytime warranty? is it Available for Kushaq and Slavia?

or will it come at its own pace just like launch, test drive, delivery.

You can change the 7 inch infotainment in the signature model with a 10 inch infotainment with a rear parking camera but that 10 inch infotainment wont be the one available in the top model so the camera might be different but don’t know about the quality.
Hope it helps

To the best on my knowledge, Kushaq and Slavia have 4 years standard and 2 years paid extended warranty option. Kylaq has 3 years standard and 2 years paid extended warranty option.

Not sure of what is latest available in terms of anytime extended warranty which was introduced at the start of 2023

Congrats on the new ride! I am looking to get the signature plus variant sometime this month.

Could you share more details on the insurance you took? Did you take it from the dealer or outside? The quote I got from Gurudev motors is pretty expensive compared to outside

Thanks, but do you mean this can be done directly at the time of delivery from showroom/service center or aftermarket?
I am new to Skoda, so still figuring out what's possible from someone who might have done it. Kylaq Signature is the shortlisted car for me at the moment.

Hi, It was ridiculously expensive, yes. (Just like the premium I paid for the Prestige variant )

But I usually go with company insurance for the first year (a perceived piece of mind for me), so I did that with this car too.

You can go ahead with outside insurance, and save at least 20K I guess!! It would be even more if you go with Acko or Digit.

Re: Skoda Kylaq Review

Hello members,

I had booked kylaq Prestige AT in lava blue in Mid Jan & the dealer here in Bangalore has no tentative date of the car coming yet.

Yesterday I received a call that a white car is in transit & can be allocated for me. Since I’m not going to be making loan for the purchase they said they can allocate the car. I’m okay with the color as well. The dealer told lava blue production hasn’t begun & will take more than a month for it to be dispatched. Also the dealer is not okay with PDI in stockyard & he will allow the PDI only after I transfer full amount or part payment and PDI has to be done behind the showroom only.

Would like the members to weigh in whether is it okay or not.

Thank you
