I had a question: Can you fit a 1 litre bottle in the rear doorpad space? From the review pictures above it looks like the bottle cannot fit standing, it has to be placed side on and covers the full area?

Re: 2024 BMW 5 Series LWB (G68) Review

Have the discounts changed for last minute December sales? NCR specifically. Dealerships here charge an unconscionable 95k service charge which makes the “company” discount pretty useless.

That said, we are also looking to book, but hoping the last minute December bookings around xmas will make them cave on the service charge and add in a couple more accessories/cash discount. It’s truly a fantastic car if you can get over the lack of manual sun blinds which is truly a glaring miss. The thick cushioned seats extending all the way to the doors will make you forget the lack of reclining capability.

Great review 👏🏼

One thing that I love is the 18 speaker B&W sound system. It’s absolutely smashing. Most of the car stereo is front passenger focused. But the B&W on the 5 is quite phenomenal even for the rear seat passengers. I am coming from a 2018 X3 that had a not so bad Harman Kardon set up.

You get a modern and minimalistic look with very few buttons. The quality of materials is good and the fit and finish are excellent
One thing I noticed is Google maps can be mirrored onto the MID only when using Android Auto. When using CarPlay only Apple Maps can be mirrored to the MID. Bit of a bummer but am getting used to Apple Maps now

Heard rumours that the 5 series will be getting powered sunblinds at the rear soon.
Anyone has any news on that?

It will be great if this rumour is true

Separately, can owners comment on any ground clearance issues with the 530Li? How does it compare with other sedans? I am seriously considering one but worried about GC given the long wheelbase and soft suspension.

So far none, meaning no issues. In my residential society there are couple of weirdly built and super high speed breakers, which it clears super easily with 2 of us. With 5 people if you take it real slow, it manages to clear comfortably, but with 5 people if you go over an abnormally high speed breaker at speed, it might scrape a little. Which I think any other car also would. Personally, having driven it for 3 months, i did not see GC as an issue. BMW has done really well to manage it. Plus there is also some protection at the bottom of the car. So even if it does scrape, it is not the body of the car, but the protection which has been provided. Even during the rains, on the wonderful roads of Gurgaon, it hasn't touched in any of the unknown potholes.

Thank you, that’s really encouraging. I plan to take a test drive specifically on a route with unscientific speed breakers to check on this!

I purchased the car in Dec and have covered around 2000 kms so far. I have driven over the infamous Bangalore speed breakers and the unmarked ones in Kerala! I only scraped the car slightly once when I was going a bit fast on an unmarked one. In short, need not worry about scraping it !

Have any of you have taken the extended warranty? I’m thinking of going for the 5 year option - it comes to about 2.89 after taxes - Insight from any of the current owners are welcome ! I’ve already taken the BSI 3 year 40k kms pack

Have the same observation ! I have highlighted this and they said it’s some integration issue with car play. Not sure if they will be able to sort this out. Perhaps a Discreet way of promoting Apple Maps and BMW navigation ? 😆

I have the 19” wheels and have managed to scrape only once. That too I could have avoided if I was more mindful. GC hasn’t been a big worry.

Yeah, I have taken both. Extended warranty and and the BSI package for 5 years. Though I now think, I will end up driving more than the kms I opted for.
