Re: 2024 Maruti Dzire Review

Car has everything , missing a nice automatic is the only fly in the ointment. Maruti should consider giving a nice CVT or a Torque converter to the Dzire. The top end is quite pricey at 12.5-13L OTR and deserves a better gearbox. I am sure the the new Amaze will come with a CVT and will have an upper hand over the Dzire.

Re: 2024 Maruti Dzire Review

I'm still in disbelief that Maruti made the Dzire 5-star safe.

Now that they have done it, they have to make use of the platform to the fullest. The natural sequence will be to introduce the next gen Ertiga. Since the current gen Ertiga moved higher up the segment in terms of size and price, Maruti can bring a sub-4m 3-row (though cramped) MPV based on this 5-star-rated Dzire. We've thr Fronx for the SUV part.

After all, a sedan is the most inefficient way of designing interior space, considering the exterior dimensions.

Re: 2024 Maruti Dzire Review

For the first time in Team-Bhp history, we have a MSIL car review, where, in the Pros and Cons section, the first point itself on the Pros side showcases 5 star crash ratings.

I don't think this has been ever done to any other car review before here. I am hoping this was done intentionally as this is the single biggest monumental step in the forward direction for Indian car industry.

Re: 2024 Maruti Dzire Review

This car is so perfect that even the cons seem to be minor inconveniences .

Re: 2024 Maruti Dzire Review

I wish Maruti offered two engine options like how they did with the 2018 WagonR. I had once driven the 3rd gen Dzire AMT for 500kms and the engine on that car is something else. Silky smooth and peppy, while being efficient at the same time.

This also makes me wonder, is the old engine a cause for the poor safety rating? Just a small thought.

I hope Maruti takes feedback and launches this car with the older engine atleast as an option.

Few more reasons apart from the 20-40L of extra boot space to consider Amaze or Aura:
1. 4-cylinder engine : Any day more refined and low on NVH
2. Smoother automatic transmission : CVT
3. Better quality interior plastics
4. Peppier reliable engine : i-VTECH

For everything else, the new Dzire is what the masses will desire for.

Re: 2024 Maruti Dzire Review

How tables are turned!
At Rs 8 lakhs on-road in many states, this is a safe, affordable option for many entry level buyers. This release going to dent cars from multiple segments above and below.
Maruti back in the game, next target is EV, exciting times ahead.

Re: 2024 Maruti Dzire Review

The design looks nice now. It looks much proportionate than the older generations. 5 star safety is an icing on the cake. Although I wish the engine was bit more powerful or rather they should have used the 4 cylinder engine which was much more refined.

Re: 2024 Maruti Dzire Review

Thanks for a wonderful and detail review. With an average sales of 15K per month, this car will help MS to do additional numbers.

This car could be ideal for those customer segment who are looking at entry level car priced less than 8L on road.

Also, it would be helpful if the reviewer can add the ratings system where the ratings can be given based on reviews and performance, which will help those who are looking to buy.

Re: 2024 Maruti Dzire Review

Maruti offering the 5 star safety is unheard off. But why reduce the bhp ratings of the engine? Is that to improve the fuel efficiency claims? If yes then next from Maruti could be a 60 bhp engine with claimed 35 KMPL ratings. My only concern is that the cars like these with mass market presence will slow down the overall highway speed in the long term, when every one including the government is trying to make the travel faster in general. Maruti should have provided a bigger engine.
Just my 2 cents.

If that is the actual case, the govt should reduce the tax on vehicles, especially on the +1200CC Petrol and +1500C Diesel engines vehicles. Then the manufacturers may introduce bigger and more powerful engines.

Also, if the govt is sincere on safety, then they have to reduce the tax on +4m vehicles. The non-existent bumpers in sub-4m cars is a big concern in providing safety to the occupants.

No no, they have to reduce the tax not just on +4m cars, but on all cars - so that 4-wheelers are more accessible to more people including the 2-wheeler users, so that people can travel more safely.

If I am buying a 15 lakh car, the actual car cost is around 9 lakh. Remaining money are going to the govt under multiple categories - tax, RTO, etc.

So, If I have 20 lakh, I can buy a 9 lakh worth car. Paying around 4 lakh as income tax, 4 lakh as excise duty, 2 lakh as rto...

Further, if I buy 1 litre petrol for rs 100, I'm paying 60 rupees central and state taxes. I have to earn 140 rupees to buy a 40 rupee worth petrol if income tax is added.

Such is the tax system.

Re: 2024 Maruti Dzire Review

Thank you mods for the wonderful and detailed review. Maruti has done the unexpected by improving the crash safety of Dzire . With this, the new Dzire ticks almost all the boxes for most users.

One area, we all know, where it is a downgrade is the engine. Until now, have read only the reviews about how the 3-cylinder Z series engine is but last weekend, went and test drove the new Swift to get a feel of the engine and it is a significantly noisy motor compared to the old, creamy smooth K12 engine. Drivability wise, both are almost comparable. The noise levels start creeping right from 2000 rpm onwards and accompany us continuously thereafter. Again, not a deal breaker, thanks to very little to no vibrations, but this character sticks out like a sore thumb than what we are used to till now.

With the Dzire now scoring 5-star rating at Global NCAP, I am hoping that the same performance will be exhibited by the Swift. Wishful thinking but if Maruti goes and plonks that Boosterjet into the Swift and launches a Swift Sport, we are all in for a treat with a pocket rocket option

Re: 2024 Maruti Dzire Review

Took me 16 years to convert! Finally a sub-4 meter sedan that I can look at with appreciation. Heck, If I were in the market to buy a Swift, I would have got this one instead as the addition of bigger boot makes it much more practical. Apart from some cost cutting measures like lack of padding on the boot, I have no reason to reject this car.

I think the car's wheel wells can easily accommodate 16 inch wheels of the Baleno/Fronx to make it look better.

For people who might feel the car is underpowered, the thing with these 3 cylinder engines are they need to be worked upon with proper gear changes and throttle inputs. Do not hesitate to wriggle the throttle when taking test drives, you might be in for a surprise as the sound can become addictive Also, as a past owner/driver of three cylinder cars (Beat Diesel, S-Presso, Zen) I can say that the vibrations take time to settle over time, so a new car might feel harsh initially, more so when the engine is cold, wait for a few thousand kilometers and few oil changes for them to open up.

Re: 2024 Maruti Dzire Review

Maruti Suzuki's Dzire as reported by international media:

Suzuki made an $8,000 sedan that aced crash tests!

The econobox doesn't skimp on safety, earning five stars in the Global NCAP crash test.

Quote:
Maruti Suzuki was confident its diminutive sedan would ace the crash test because it voluntarily gave Global NCAP cars to destroy. Even the standard Dzire has six airbags, ESP, hill hold assist, and pedestrian protection. Sure, these are features many of us take for granted in 2024 but you can imagine sacrifices have to be made for sub-$10,000 cars. America's cheapest car, the Nissan Versa, starts at $18,330, more than double the price of a base Dzire. Even in its highest trim level, the Dzire costs only about $12,000.
