That key is shared across all VW Skoda 2.0 products. I have the same on my Virtus, absolutely despise it. Doesn't feel worthy of an 18L car. Thankfully I never use it and it just remains in my pocket, as it has the request sensors.

I wish we got a more premium key, this one is just too plasticky.

I have had a polo in the past and have a taigun GT now. Never had any issues with the Key Fob(s). Can you share an example of what can be defined as a premium key in a comparable car? Maybe I am missing out on the hate

Cheers.

Just to let you know, few Audi cars have this key too.

The 40 lac VW Tiguan and 60 lac Audi Q3 get flippy keys (even when they have keyless entry and go), so I wouldn’t expect much different from a 15 lac Kylaq.

Definitely an eyesore, though the key at least in the Tiguan/ Q3 are quite high quality.

I visited the showroom, was keen on test drive but 1) no car for test drive and 2)big difference between classic and signature, made my decision easier.

I like the key that Kia offers on their line up, my dad's Carens' has a key which feels good to hold.

VW does have a newer "Premium " feeling glossy black key that will look great on the first day but wear out with scratches quick. I feel in a model with KESSY, you would hardly touch the key itself so it doesn't really matter.

I have been using a Kia Sonet on and off and its flip key at just 3 years old looks as if its 10 year old. The key hardly flips out(almost have to pull it out) and the plastic feels really poor quality. On the flipside(pun intended) my cheap feeling key on the polo still feels as good as day 1.

I would honestly not care about how the key "feels" , would instead focus at more important things in the car. If someone is inclined to get a better one, get a nice key cover and call it a day.

Re: Skoda Kylaq Pre-Production Camouflaged Car First Drive & Preview

Pardon the noob question.

Can someone please share the difference in technical aspects of display car production v/s regular production.

Kylaq is not available in showrooms on display or test drive. There are a (few) display cars which are available. Have these been made on a full-fledged production line? Is there any variance compared to what will eventually be sold to customers?

Re: Skoda Kylaq Pre-Production Camouflaged Car First Drive & Preview

I am in market for a car of this size with AT for my better half, Kylaq seems to be good option but top models seems overprized as everyone here also thinks likewise, I think after initial hype we will definitely have discounts running, especially on top models. Looks are polarizing but I do like Kylaq as it’s refreshing to see a new launch these days without tube light type of lights in front or back.

Skoda should have sent test drive and display cars early to keep the hype.

I'm curious if anyone has seen Skoda Kylaq car at Orion Mall. What were your impressions of it?

Re: Skoda Kylaq Pre-Production Camouflaged Car First Drive & Preview

I saw the car in Orion Mall today. The event was very poorly organized and it was kind of a free for all where everybody were falling on top of each other. There was absolutely no coordination and lack of interest from Skoda side and the general public treated the car with absolute disregard, giving it the ultimate standing torture test if there is any such thing. Somebody managed to tear apart the driver's seat fabric even.

Regrading the car, it looks and feels strong with good quality. The boot door had heft and felt super solid. I felt the interior plastics are improved but the car lacks features, especially after the Kia Syros announcement. Loved the design of the new 17 inch wheels and the size of the car is a perfect city runabout.

Re: Skoda Kylaq Pre-Production Camouflaged Car First Drive & Preview

I too just returned home after checking out the Skoda Kylaq at Orion Mall this evening. The car looks good in person. They have the same olive green color on display and its the prestige variant.

The car looks well-proportioned and not at all like a shortened Kushaq. Need I say even majestic and well-designed compared to the other competitors in its segment.

The fit and finish are very good for the seats and they feel much more comfortable compared to the seats in my Taigun GT+. I couldn't get much of an impression of the driver's seat and dashboard due to the number of people waiting to check the driving seat.

Two cons though, the plastic cladding on the exteriors seems overdone and the fake roof rail looks real cheap in quality. And the rear seat does feel a bit claustrophobic. It could also be due to it being indoors and the flood of people around the car.

Overall this feels like a good purchase if you want something more sophisticated than the segment competitors. This car screams exclusivity. Purchasing it will be more of a heart decision rather than the mind.

Cheers.
