Re: Skoda Kylaq Pre-Production Camouflaged Car First Drive & Preview

3XO clearly outshines,
I was planning to book Signature+ but seeing rear wiper, wireless charging, ambient lighting and even padle shifter moved to prestige I will wait for poor sales and management to release a discounted Monte Carlo variant.
My Nexon has adaptive guidelines :( Static guidelines and poor pricing will make kylaq the next Kushaq in terms of sales.

Re: Skoda Kylaq Pre-Production Camouflaged Car First Drive & Preview

Is it possible to change the variant and colour option at a later date after booking?

Re: Skoda Kylaq Pre-Production Camouflaged Car First Drive & Preview

Anand Mahindra and Mahindra shareholders can sleep peacefully tonight. Kylaq is in no way a threat to 3XO.
Kylaq is clearly overpriced, that too with less features compared to similar priced variant of 3XO! What were they thinking?

Skoda should've capped on-road price of top variant at 15lakhs. But Skoda is Skoda i guess.

Re: Skoda Kylaq Pre-Production Camouflaged Car First Drive & Preview

Hope before the launch, murmurs about the pricing and offering post launch, some initial traction and then finally tapering of numbers. Can't see Kylaq maintaining 4-5k per month post the initial numbers.

It's eerily like the Kushaq story again - the product offering doesn't match the price offering in the most brutal segment in the market today!!!

Re: Skoda Kylaq Pre-Production Camouflaged Car First Drive & Preview

I got to spend some time with the all new Kylaq in a secluded place before the official launch and I have to say that after a long time, I'm impressed with a car. Think of Kylaq as a car which has addressed the issues of Kushaq & Slavia, has solid interiors, typical Skoda ride-handling balance and an assurance of German built at a price lower than Kushaq. We are planning a car in the 10L bracket and Kylaq is a no brainer. The natural competitor is the 3X0 but having sat in both the vehicles, I would say Kylaq sits above, it inherently feels premium. Rest to each his own. Regarding the price, I think they are asking what they are offering.

I don't see what's mouth watering in this? The prices you have mentioned are for manual variants. Comparing the top end of Kylaq with Sonet/XUV 3XO-

Kylaq- 13.35L
Sonet iMT- 13.49L
XUV 3XO- 13.99L

With the least road presence, least features, typical skoda ASS and reliability issues and least interior space, the pricing seems very optimistic to me. Sure the dynamics of Kylaq could be better than 3XO/Sonet, but is it worth that to compromise on the complete package? And is it that better than in dynamics than these two, considering neither Sonet or XUV are slouches in dynamics department. I feel Skoda went a little too greedy with this one buoyed by the initial response of the good pricing for base variant.

Re: Skoda Kylaq Pre-Production Camouflaged Car First Drive & Preview

This segment has more cars, and the strategic marketing price of 7.89L made to turn heads toward Skoda, with the price for all models out, not sure if this is going to make a big spike in their sales chart, IMO the cost of the Top-end is high, and Mahindra with more features may take over easily.

Affordable Skoda lovers may stretch their budget to go for the Kushaq with its proven presence.

Though it's an initial stage, let's see how it goes for Skoda 2.0

Base Classic trim is limited to 10% of the production run.

Petr Janeba, brand director Skoda Auto India, said:

The only thing missing in base Classic trim is an infotainment system.

I have booked a Prestige AT in Green colour. The nearby showroom SA with whom I was in touch, said it's not possible to change any booking parameters later.

I was torn between Lava Blue and the Green colour. But finally went with Green. If I don't like how green looks, and if they don't allow a change of colour, I will cancel the booking.

At present, I don't think it's a value for money car. I booked it, as it fits my needs. Let's see if my opinion changes after I see it in person.

Booked a Prestige AT in Lava Blue color. I think it's overpriced by 60k, but that's how all Skoda/VW group cars are priced.

To quote my own analysis, Skoda has clearly overpriced this car's top variant by ~1L accounting for lower cost from smaller size & GST savings. Unless they are claiming to have a better kit (~1L worth value) than Kushaq Prestige. It's better to go for Kushaq Prestige, with 1-1.5L offers almost always running, it can be better VFM (compared to Kylaq prestige). You get better leg space and a bigger car.

Signature seems to have been priced close to expectations, but it's bare bones. Whereas mid-variant on Kushaq is decently loaded and a VFM variant by all means.

Signature+ commands a premium of 50-60K than a similar spec Kushaq.

The prices are almost same as I expected. This should have been the price for Kushaq 1L. Anyways, Skoda finally managed to price it fairly with reduction of 200mm length.

Re: Skoda Kylaq Pre-Production Camouflaged Car First Drive & Preview

A very interesting interview with Petr Janeba, Brand Director, Skoda Auto India (video link below).

Notes of information that he shared that I found interesting:
  1. Skoda is targeting 33,333 bookings for the “right price”. He suggests a potential price revision after late January but does not elaborate more. I reckon for now they have a wait and watch strategy.
  2. Aiming for deliveries by the middle of May 2025 for these 33,333 bookings.
  3. Dealers will have a test drive car and potentially some stock from 27th January 2025. This day is what will be considered the official launch of the car.
  4. Kylaq will be displayed at the Bharat Mobility exhibition in January 2025.
  5. 96% localised parts in Kylaq. Parts are “fast available” and “for local pricing”.
  6. Kylaq has been crash-tested in BNCAP, and ratings will be announced in February 2025.
  7. Kylaq will have its ground while Kushaq will become “more equipped”. He says to “stay tuned” and says it is coming in February. It is a reference to Kushaq facelift. I believe we will get the first glimpses of it in February 2025.
  8. Skoda is planning an EV next year (2025), considering the CAFE 3 norms. He states it will be a “local EV”. This will make the landscape interesting considering Maruti Suzuki is also said to be planning the launch of their first EV next year.

Re: Skoda Kylaq Pre-Production Camouflaged Car First Drive & Preview

Pricing seems absurd from variant to variant. Between Classic and Presitge, all you get is cruise control, 7" infotainment, 16" alloys, rear defogger, TPMS, cooling glove box but.you have to shell out over 1.5 lakhs for it.
