Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx Review

I made an online booking on 3rd Oct within 1 min of the bookings opening and have booked a MX3 P AT. Does anyone know if MX3s are being delivered? My dealer is maintaining that he has no info on delivery / waiting time and we will have to wait until Mahindra would communicate it, expected, as we know only by 25th Oct.

I haven't received any formal text or email confirmation from Mahindra regarding my booking but it seems to be the case for many. I wanted car's delivery on Dussehra. I was asked by the dealer to contact them around Thursday. I got a reply that they don't have any idea when the cars are coming in. I tweeted about it.

Got a call on Dussehra from the GM of the Mahindra dealership telling me that they don't have any cars to give. They got 7 cars for TD and display. 3 of them were AX7L which were used, the remaining 4 AX5/MX5 are getting delivered. The first batch of cars have been allotted and AX7L doesn't seem to make the cut.
I am also in the same boat as you. I have asked 2 different dealerships and both of them do not know when AX7L AT RWD will be available for delivery. I have booked with only one of them.

I remember reading somewhere that Thar Roxx manufacturing had started around August. The option to save preference was opened on 16th August. I hoped that Mahindra would look at variants people had saved. It is not a good strategy to manufacture 12+ lakh product based on what customers have saved in their cart as customer may not buy the product for next 6 months or even 1 year. Mahindra already knew there will be lot of people booking Thar Roxx, so manufacturing some percentage of variants based on saved preferences could have helped with delivery timelines.

It feels like Mahindra manufactured variants that they thought people will buy or the variant that gave more profits, pushed those variants to dealers and dealers will try to sell them to customers who are willing to switch the variant. YouTube is getting filled with mostly MX5 manual variants that are being delivered.

My SA was not happy with my online booking. I think he is not able to change variants that are booked online as compared to the ones booked at showroom and could be why he lost interest in my sale and is evading my calls. I will visit showroom to gauge his interest in 1-2 days personally.

There is no incentive for the sales assistants in a new launch. I've confirmed it with my guy. Dealerships aren't at fault here to be honest.

Mahindra needs to rise above hype marketing and be more transparent with their customers.

This review gave me a very different perspective of the machine. I am looking forward to driving it soon.

The One Car Do All is what got me glued to the entire 37-minute review.

Just had a chat with my SA (Bangalore). He mentioned the same thing; they are also waiting to hear from Mahindra, and they don't really know anything more than what the customers know.He also said that his showroom hasn't delivered any Roxx yet.

I guess it's a waiting game till Oct 25th for the majority of us.

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx Review

I received a call from the SA out of nowhere, checking on my purchase plan. I guess a lot of bookings are being made in anticipation of long wait times, and the SA called to confirm if I would proceed with the purchase if she manages to secure the exact color and model combo. Keeping my fingers crossed for an early delivery, though I was initially hoping to get my hands on it sometime next year.

BTW, I had also managed to book within the first minute, including the payment, and the SA's stance until last week was to wait until 25th October for any official update.

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx Review

I was at the dealer today and was told that Apple Car Play is not being provided in the Thar Roxx, at least as of now. Does anyone know whether it will be provided later as a software update? Thank you

Mahindra provides the software update in few months after the launch for Car Play and Android Auto.

This proves that this is going to be my first Mahindra Car, i was not aware of this. Find it very in-convenient, we are all so used to having it in the car! Thank you Arsh

I hope there isn't anything shady happening here. Everyone waiting for the top end trims have been told to wait till 25th October. I have a feeling that they will try to push existing stock of Scorpio N and 700 on customers at the cusp of Diwali since it would be too late for them to consider any other product.

I hope I'm wrong and we all get our deliveries as soon as possible.

If you liked this then you should also watch MotorInc's review podcast on the Thar Roxx. They talk in detail about the difference in the chassis of Scorpio N and Thar Roxx. Why Mahindra made a new ladder frame chassis and how it's going to affect the Scorpio N facelift.

I am facing a similar situation. The dealership was completely unresponsive until I posted something about my frustration on "X". Within a short time, I received a call from the dealer, but unfortunately, they were just as clueless. They mentioned that they won't have any concrete information until after October 25th and advised me to wait until then.

From what I've gathered, it seems like Mahindra is prioritizing the mid-level variants for the first batch of deliveries, which is frustrating for those of us who have booked higher-end models like the AX7L. This lack of clarity and communication is definitely not helping. Hoping things become clearer post-25th.

I have booked the AX5L D AT in Battleship Grey and explicitly mentioned that I would only proceed if she could deliver the exact same model and color, to which she sounded affirmative.

I am quite neutral about the delivery date since this will be my second car, and I’m not in a rush. If they deliver it by Diwali, I’ll probably enjoy some cost benefits, as a price hike seems to be around the corner. If it arrives sometime next year, I’ll avoid being part of the 'trial and error' aka guinea pig batch.

The point of concern, though, is how messed up the whole process is. In this day and age of AI and analytics, I don’t understand why Mahindra needs 22 days to come up with a delivery schedule.

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx Review

What is surprising is of all the record breaking bookings, none of them have percolated into Team-Bhp. Thar 3D trend was slightly different in this sense.

Guessing the Thar 5D audience is the city one who want it for the “Tashan” value more than anything else. Mahindra playing the lifestyle segment the only provider.

That being said what needs to be further seen is how things unfold. Mahindra dealers in Tricity have good stock of Mx5, Ax5 RwD versions. I believe Ax7L being premium Mahindra waited for confirmed bookings and manufactured in less quantity. That being said since Aug’24 manufacturing 6k*2.5(months)=15000 units appx. I would add another 5000 to this count conservatively.

Also if I recall correctly the unit in one of the videos for Mx5 4x4 had serial no. 6000 something.

Hence, above figure of 20k already manufactured is not far fetched. Assuming Roxx has a running book of 2L bookings of that they have churned out 20k i.e. 10%.

For Mocha Brown, Vendor alignment was done when announcement was made (assuming ideally it was already aligned prior) worst case vendor manufacturing started upon announcement. Given Vendor lead time to manufacture and ship 15 Days. Alongside Assembly line mapping and configuration for Mocha Brown. Thus, manufacturing initiation on 1Nov’24 -20Nov’24 appx. Hence the Jan’25 end is their latest initial lot delivery timeline.

Also, assuming a lot of people here have booked Mocha Brown means Mocha Brown content should be available to us by Dec’24 last week or Jan’25 first week.

Last 2 Weeks Manufacturing halts, but vendor supplies would continue; would allow for good churn rate of desired models and scale up of production lines Jan’25 onwards.

I believe Tata Sierra 4x4/AWD assuming it to use same Hyundai AT torque box which comes around Aug’25 should take away some hype. Bottomline Mahindra wants the Roxx to have the cult prior to any other launch.

Plus they would also be bringing in ADAS versions of their existing lineups with few quirks here and there.

Those waiting for Ax7L should start seeing them between now and Diwali (my assumption), hence few of them receiving calls from dealership.

Well, I had visited a showroom in Pune somewhere in September-end and their display car had serial number of 31782 IIRC. The sales executive confirmed that they had received the car around 12th September. Considering 10 days shipping time from factory, I would assume even 40k units to be ready as of delivery date. All these speculations are on the basis of serial number of display/TD cars, which I have my doubts (now) on considering the how the situation around deliveries has unfolded.
