Thank you for reading, and I am just so happy to be posting here for the first time.
Hi, just switch off the auto start/stop button as soon as you crank the engine. It is an irritant and it will remain off throughout your drive. It will auto start in a fresh ignition cycle. There are jugads on this forum or on youtube on other Mahindra vehicles with a similar function.

As for the Auto Hold, it is a different function. When switched on it will ensure that the brakes are kept in the applied/hold position even when you are in D mode and when you foot is not on the brake. It is a boon for bumper to bumper traffic. It ensures that you do not have to sift to neutral or keep your brake pedal depressed in traffic relieving stress on the gear box and your foot. Tap very gently on the accelerator to push off and auto hold will get disengaged. When it is engaged the word AUTO HOLD appears in green, when disengaged in white and when you switch it off by pressing the auto hold button it will vanish from the IC. Trust this helps.

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx Review

I recently took a short trip to my farmhouse in Alibag and had the chance to take the Thar Roxx for a bit of off-road adventure. It wasn’t anything extreme, just a subtle test, but wow—this vehicle climbs like a mountain goat in 4L! This was my first time experiencing a 4x4 with all the modern tech and gizmos assisting me, and it was quite impressive.

At Kihim beach, I spotted a few other Thars having fun in the sand, but I decided to avoid the salty water and sand, took out my other 4x4 instead!

The journey back via the M2M ferry was smooth, and the Thar Roxx definitely turned heads wherever I went!

There is no speed limit (on Mumbai Pune expressway) that says 90km/h. It is either 100/80/50. Maybe there is 90 km/h limit from Pune to Kolhapur. If you do not pay the challan, you will get a lok adalat pre-litigation notice as SMS and you will have the option to appear in the lok adalat and challenge the challan. Also, the first challan for speed is 1000 but the second onwards it is 2000. Welcome to Maharashtra.

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx Review

"Finally", took home the Roxx !!!

I recently took delivery of the Everest White AX7L 4WD. The process was lengthy and more cumbersome than anticipated, as I placed my booking within the first minute on October 3rd. This experience has taught me to temper my expectations regarding customer service when dealing with Mahindra and its dealers. If you manage that, you would be able to manage your frustrations better.

Effective follow-up and sometimes escalations are necessary; however, it should be noted that escalations may not always yield significant help, as they can be met with “what is wrong with you dude, this is how we function” attitude.

Regarding the timeline, I received the allocation notification on January 17th, and the vehicle was delivered on January 28th, totaling 11 calendar days. Given that no loan or financing was involved, this duration felt excessive.

I attempted to exchange my 2018 Jeep Compass Limited Diesel through Mahindra, but the offered price of INR 5.25 lakhs for a well-maintained car with 54,000 km was laughable to say the least. Consequently, I opted not to proceed with the exchange. It appears that their exchange business lacks seriousness, especially for new cars in high demand.

Despite delays and an unfriendly CRM from the dealer, the overall experience was fairly good, largely due to the Sales Executive's positive attitude. The handover ceremony was enjoyable, featuring glitter splashes and cake cutting which my kids enjoyed.

The Mahindra goodies included a coffee mug, a microfiber cloth, a mini card/document folder and a keychain, though the quality of these items is questionable, with the key chain ring losing shape instantly after the key fob was pulled through, lol. Do better Mahindra!

Additionally, the goodie bag contained a nice Ganesh figurine, a car freshener, and a pack of Ferrero Rocher chocolates; possibly contributed by the dealer?

I am yet to explore all the features in detail, but one immediate observation is that the 19-inch tires result in a bumpy ride even at 31 psi tire pressure. The vehicle moves around quite a bit at slow speeds, and this will need some getting used to.

Transitioning from a Jeep Compass to the Thar (with similar widths of 1818 mm and 1890 mm, respectively), parking in our usual spot was surprisingly a bit different. I guess maneuvering within confined spaces will require some adaptation, all the more for those moving from a compact sedan or hatchback.

The wireless charging, Adrenox, and Alexa assistant appear to be functioning well, though it is still early days.

I will be driving from Bangalore to Kerala this weekend, covering approximately 1400 km round trip, and plan to provide another update on the overall experience.

PS: The euphoria is fading, and dealerships are calmer with the crowd and attention.

Congrats on your purchase! A Jeep Compass is an excellent driver's car, so bit surprised about replacing it with the Roxx. The Roxx is also a very good car, but then the Compass has better lumbar support, more places to store water bottles, planted ride, and darker yet richer interiors. Were there any serious issues in the Compass for the swap?

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx Review

I finally received a call from MH confirming that I will get the delivery in the next few days. I've opted for MX3 AT white variant and was hoping someone could share a little more context on the warranty.

Since the MX3 variant doesn't come with alloy wheels, does installing aftermarket alloys void the warranty? I understand that increasing the size might void it, but what about using 18-inch alloys or 1'5 offset? Any brand that you'd recommend between 50 to 70K?

What is the PCD for 5D 139.7 or 114? Also, is the PCD for the Thar 3D the same or different? Is there anything specific I should keep in mind?

I was thinking of adding fog lights , will this void the warranty? Mahindra does not have this in stock, else I'd just get it from them.

Can you suggest any legal sun films?

Are there any accessories from the showroom that you'd recommend? I find most of them to be overpriced.

Also, do you know any dealers in the Bangalore area?

Not quite the conventional choice, right? Fully agree—the Compass is a fantastic machine. Great power, handles aggressive driving like a champ, and stays planted no matter what you throw at it.

But there were three reasons behind the switch.

First, the upkeep costs. The Compass was becoming slightly more expensive to maintain, with me ending up replacing the engine mounts, flywheel, clutch assembly, and—get this—the ABS sensor more than four times in just 18 months! That got a bit tiring, to say the least.

Second, it was almost seven years with the Compass—by far the longest I’ve ever kept a car. My usual ownership cycle is around 4.5 years. This one stretched out thanks to Covid and WFH, but in terms of actual usage, it was pretty much like my previous cars.

Now, the third—and probably the biggest—was the itch to own a real Jeep, in the classic Indian sense. The kind that’s all boxy, rugged, and looks like it just rolled straight out of an old-school adventure flick. I even went down the Willys route at one point, scouting for one to keep as a second one. So when news broke that Mahindra was testing the 5-door, it felt like the best compromise—something that could scratch my itch while still being family-friendly.

That said, after booking the Roxx, Mahindra and its dealers did their best to test my patience. Zero commitment on delivery, general indifference—it was frustrating enough that I almost booked a Tucson instead. But then came the shocker—my wife and my 10-year-old outright refused! They were all in for the Roxx, even if it meant waiting over nine months. And mind you, this was despite me trying to scare them off with a really jumpy test drive!

That's great. Can you please tell how much did it cost? Does the sun film application leave any bubble or other issues?

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx Review

Hi,

Need clarification on the warranty situation on your Thar Roxx, when:

1. You upgrade your tyres and alloys to a after market solution by adding spacers?
2. You upsize your tyres from 18s to 19s and fit OEM 19 incher alloy?
3. You just upgrade the steelies to OEM alloys on 18 inchers?

Also, is the headlight on MX3 is exactly same as on AX7L minus the “c” drl?

TIA

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx Review

Hi, I got it done at Edge Car Accessories, HSR Layout. We installed 3M sun films for front windscreen and all windows for around 30K. No bubbles at all, great visibility in the night. I am not promoting Edge Car Accessories, but you get what you want. Great workmanship.

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx Review

I have started seeing some interesting mods being done on the thar roxx mostly from shops up north (NCR area) along with several interior and exterior accessory options , tyres, rims etc. Who in Bangalore can do such mod jobs along with access to a variety of accessories for the Roxx? Any guidance from this group?
