I am confused about the Bottom Door Cladding accessory. The conflict is between aesthetics and protection. The car looks better without the cladding.

Considering, the footboard which is protruding outside, protecting the body, is just below the cladding. Would this cladding provide any meaningful protection in traffic?
That is for: when morons open their car door adjacent to your jeep, without looking outside (or not caring).

I didn't have any cladding on my 3D Thar and I had just one dent over 3yrs and that was because I parked next to a Fortuner.

Avoid parking next to Fortuner, Hilux, Isuzu and other jacked up vehicles and you should be fine without a cladding.

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx Review

Got my MX3 P AT in Stealth Black delivered yesterday. The car looks big, but feels easier to drive than the 3 door. The petrol engine is really smooth and quiet. The ride is 100% better also than my previous Thar 3 door. Looking forward to putting on a few miles this weekend.

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx Review

I finally got everything done. The biggest take is that contrary to what Mahindra is saying, Tyres make a big impact on the handling as well as how the car soaks the bump. The difference is very noticeable and members who are holding back tyre change must do it when brand new. The steering has become very un-Mahindra

On my request, Proman produced spacers with reduced thickness (22mm) on order. Because of the difference in the design of the front and rear, the OE bolts on the rear hub were not flush with 22 mm spacers. So now my fronts have 22 mm spacers and on the rear 30 mm.

After mounting everything, there is still an issue left to address, when we try to reverse and turn the car full right side, the tyre on the left side scraps the plastic cladding. I am not sure if there is something wrong with the distance between the tyre from the front on the right and left. I will measure up and update. Since this happens only in extreme conditions, I am not paying much attention. Besides, I am already in love with that steel bumper. As soon as Proman can finish up the issue of radar calibration, I will go ahead.

Front with 22mm spacer

Rear with 22 mm spacer, replaced later with 30 mm. We can see the OE bolts sticking out of the spacer.

Stance of the tyres from different angles.

Hope this information is useful to members who are looking to upgrade tyres/ rims.

What is the tyre size? Somehow the wheel now looks smaller, is it the picture or is it overall smaller circumference? Alloys are yummy

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx Review

Finally, my ordeal that started with bumper change has almost ended. Thanks to the good nature of the dealer I bought it from and my relations with him, he accepted the return. However, he was confident that they could make radar work by changing its location to behind a plastic part as currently it was behind metal but after a lukewarm response from people I decided to retain the stock bumper.

The last issue that I have to deal with now is that the left front parking sensor broke while removing from the Wrangler style bumper as it was held in place using feviquick. I will go for the first checkup service soon and get the order placed as I am sure they will not have this part in stock. My accessories guy asked a few people from whom he sources Mahindra parts and they were saying if we place the order now, it should come within a week.

The last customization I am looking forward to is getting a good quality grill which is still not available for Roxx, there is only one by Bullhorn till now and even they do not have it in Deep Forest shade nor it is designed with front camera in mind, they are fitting it with some jugad. I asked around and they are expecting a good-quality grill by next month. Fingers crossed.

The wheels look fab on the White. Did you get a set of 5 alloys? If yes how did your tyre guy manage the rear camera mounted inside the spare wheel?

I have shifted to 18 inches(285x 60x R18) but the overall dimensions are more than the stocks (255x 60x R19). Perhaps, in pictures due to the wheel coming out?

Yes, probably the only thing that came out right without me getting involved The camera works fine and it looks to be OE fitment.

As I mentioned previously about the rubbing issue, I looked at the gap between the left and right- tyre to bumper, and it's indeed different. Can someone who is on stock wheels look and check? What can be the issue, alignment or just another Mahindra thing

Left Side gap

Right Side Gap ( we can notice the mud reference from the left side)

Argh! My Thar has similar issue with stock wheels and tyres touching the stabiliser bar on one side when steering is turned fully. Tried correcting the steering centering with alignment and that did not help and the other side started rubbing. Fundamental issue being rack is turning a little too much than required. A friend in Mahindra mentioned for the initial batch there was this issue and Mahindra did a recall and replaced it. But when I checked with my dealer workshop, they were clueless and wanted me to find a service bulletin or something. Which I am yet to find!

So coming back to your gaadi, you can check the wheel alignment once without spacer and see if there is enough clearance at wheel lock at both extremes. If that gap is even? Most likely not, if so you can try doing a steering wheel re-centering and see if that helps. Next step would be to install spacers and then see how the clearance hold. In theory, spacer and a wider foot print will need a slightly greater clearance inside the wheel well.

Yes, but my query is why is one wheel closer to the front than the other

Anshuman asked me to check the Caster and that might be the reason. Here's an explanation.

Very hard to comment with such measurement since even the bumper, wheel cladding alignment "off" by few mm's can make it seem closer visually. Even to confirm caster difference, you need to measure it using a proper wheel aligner. Though I doubt so much of a visual difference in caster from a factor fresh vehicle.

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx Review

Hello Everyone,

I recently saw a MX3 petrol AT and was surprised to see a E10 fuel compliant sticker in the fuel tank flap.

I thought all these new cars sold by Mahindra are now E20 compliant.
Any views on this ?

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx Review

I took delivery of the Thar Roxx MX3 P AT 2WD in Stealth Black colour yesterday evening (5th Dec) and brought it home as a surprise gift for my wife who had no clue what I had been up to. However, to my utter dismay, my surprise backfired as my wife is not comfortable driving such a big car and would rather have a small, compact car for her use within the city. I use my M340i as the daily driver and have the Ninja 1000SX too. The whole idea was for my wife to travel in her own car independently as she wasn't comfortable using the M340i given its low ground clearance and the extra, extra care with which it has to be driven over humps and pot holes.
If there is anyone interested to buy the Roxx over, particularly those who have to wait long for their deliveries, please DM me. Thanks.

I think this is the best one thus far, hides the ugly parts well and looks good.
