Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx Review

Getting the delivery of my White MX3 D AT on Sunday. The dealer wants me to get minimum of 25k accessories, but I only wish to have Mud flaps, Aluminum Scuff plates and Infotainment screen protector. Today I will talk to them that I don't want anything else forcefully.

The other modifications that I plan to do :

1. Alloy wheels. Most probably will go for 5 MX5 alloys (for spare wheel too). Or if I can find AX7L tyres + alloys. This decision will be purely based on availability and costs involved.

2. Change of speakers. Most probably 4 Morel Maximo MK - II coaxials. I will not go for front components as I don't want hole drilling for tweeters installation.
I have a 8 inch Kicker subwoofer that I had in my Thar 3D and an amplifier. Will use the same iny roxx.

3. Mats. A brand named "GFX" makes good quality mats. Will go with them if they already have one for Roxx.

4. Fog Lights. Will not go for the mahindra originals. Rather will get some third party projector fog lamps.

5. Dash camera. Not decided yet. Kindly give your opinions.

6. Ceramic coating. Kindly give your opinions whether it is needed or not.

7. DRL Headlamps? As MX3 variant headlamps don't come with DRLs like upper variants. This decision too will be made on cost factor only. Can vendors buy back the headlamps and deduct the price from the new?

- Dealers will be little forceful but you don't have to get any accessories. Tell them that your car is being allocated by Mahindra and not them
- Mahindra is selling screen protector for 5000 whereas you can get the same off of Amazon for 350Rs.
- Mahindra is selling alloys for 15000 plus GST but you can get the OG Alloys from nearby Tyre shop for around 9000Rs
- Get a quote for insurance directly from Tata AIG and ask Mahindra to match it. You can get 3+3yrs for a better value.
- Regarding the dashcayou can watch and follow this channel/video

Infotainment Screen Protector is for Rs 449 at dealership. Not 5000.

And did you get any information regarding the DRL headlamps?

Ohh.. The price list I recieved from my service advisor and also the one shared in this thread had the price of 5000.

Regarding MX5 headlight, I checked with few shops in Karol Bagh. But they've quoted me a price of 22000.

Thanks.
The lease in will be in my name as registered owner so that should not be an issue.

I think that could be a typing error.

Ok 22000 is decent price offer. Do any of them agree to buy back the MX3 non drl headlamps at some price?

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx Review

^ Tyres - Approved, well done. The beadlock like pattern on the outer edge of alloy, I`d suggest you paint it black, let the center of the wheel remain in the gun metal grey finish. That way the cartwheel like pattern of the wheel spokes are more visible.

I have gone for the same wheels in matte black and the same tyres as well.

Had a road trip of around 300km yesterday; mostly highway. From a drivers perspective the overall experience was superior compared to my 2018 Honda city. The family found it more comfortable as well. It doesn’t feel glued to the roads in highway speeds in comparison to the city which in itself is not a benchmark. Everything on the road be it patches, expansion joints, undulations can be felt in the cabin but not in a jarring way. Hitting a cruising speed of over 100kmphl regularly, I got an overall mileage of around 8.2kmpl which is worrying.

Great, your post is bang on time. Have you added any spacer or something? Mine are fouling with suspension as these probably have some negative off-set. I was not told this by the seller who gave the alloys. Just heard from the tyre shop and they are trying to find a fix

Thank you
You can reroute the cable to the back 12V socket. You don't have buy any cable extension as the cable that come with the dashcam are ridiculously long. I believe the influencer (Arun Pawar? Or something), the guy who ruined his car while reversing, did this in one of his videos. Or you can just buy the 70mmai hot wire kit which will also make sure the dashcam records clips even when the car is switched off.

I don't have any information about carplay being removed. I thought MX3 had wired carplay. But you're right, when I tried with my iPhone, the carplay didn't work. Thankfully I had this Carlinkit when I bought it for my 3D Thar. Hopefully Mahindra will add it via software update. Right now when I connect my iPhone using the cable, I get the following popup on my iPhone.

Yes I did see Arun’s video and found the rerouting till the back to be a bit weird , but a hotwire kit solution seems to be it now.
I am thinking of buying a USB type A to C coverter to plug it in to the type C port and leave the A port for Carplay as charging duties are done by the wireless pad itself.

Intresting to see that Carplay pop-up on the screen , it seems like it detects it but is disabled from the company’s end.
Lets see about the software update.
When I went to mahindra for my first service they told that 3XO got the update after 3/4 months as it has the same unit.
Cheers.

Yes, had the same issue for me as well, they did have to use spacers but less than 10mm is what I remember.

The problem seems to be rubbing with the calliper. The alloy vendor, who is in Chandigarh is sending spacers today. As a temporary fix, we have added washers and will get the car back today.

Edit - The washer is not working so getting back after fitting OEM wheels Let's see what happens with the spacer, this is what the dealer is sending. Wish he had told me about this before. Would have chosen another design.
