Re: 2024 Nissan X-Trail Review

Just wondering if this is the longest review thread we've had on Team-Bhp for a car totally irrelevant to our market.

Re: 2024 Nissan X-Trail Review

I was really hoping Nissan would increase its presence here, being a Nissan Magnite owner myself. Their global products are really competent (especially the American, Australian and South East Asian (Thailand/Phillipines)). But this launch is a disaster. Instead of aiming for popularity, they seem to be going for notoriety! They have Nissan Almera/Versa perfectly ready to take on the city, virtus and slavia. They have Patrol as their Halo product. They have the E-power strong hybrid for Rogue itself! All these would be fantastic if fully localised. Their dealers will be happy with more products, and they can use India as their production base too. How can their leadership not see what's so obvious. I guess it takes an enthusiast at the helm to do these things. And most C suite people are bean counters and not enthusiasts. Either they are too risk averse or too short sighted.

Aah I get it...

Nissan did what Suzuki did to Jimmy.

At this price I would have bought 3 Jimny's at its Launch Price, oh wait make that 4 as it's DISCOUNTED now

Japanese giants have become Minions as far as understanding the Indian Market.

Once bitten twice shy.
I would wait.
Wait till these are discounted.
18 lakhs OTR priced Jimmy sold at 14.
Going by that math, 60 lakhs OTR = 46 lakhs max.
But, Nissan, I would take one at 35.
Thank you very much.

Drive Safe.

Re: 2024 Nissan X-Trail Review

Must say Nissan India has incredible faith in the Indian customer and think they will be able to sell this so perceived Japenese halo product at 60 L plus , when we can easily get some world class Indian cars from Mahindra and Tata with all the bells and whistles at half the price. But a reality check should bite soon , with price cuts inevitable, and still no buyers at their showrooms for this one. Hope they focus on gettting their own Duster Variant to the market as soon as possible instead of trying such atrocious stunts in the Indian Market.

Re: 2024 Nissan X-Trail Review

Loving the collective reaction towards the pricing. With the Octavia getting only a 1.5L TSI and the Superb being launched at 60L, and now this. Mahindra, Hyundai, Tata must be laughing right now because all these other brands are pushing the customers towards them. The car segment prices have increased so much, and the dream car for many, including me, is getting a segment lower as time passes

Re: 2024 Nissan X-Trail Review

Just wanted to point out that I fully agree on the discourse surrounding the fact that Nissan have priced this clearly as the halo product in their range, it's just that the X-Trail in this iteration is hardly worthy of being a halo product. I'm surprised they didn't go for the latest iteration from the global market seeing as it's a CBU anyway. But more than that, surely launch something like the Ariya if you want a brand showcase vehicle to be the halo product in the range.

I will point out one slight disagreement. I don't think fabric seats are always an economy spec feature. I think good fabric seats can be reminiscent of classic mid century Danish furniture for eg and those exude premiumness. I don't buy the argument that leather upholstery is the final word in luxury. But I accept that this is probably a significant minority position.

Heck, it outsold the venerable Toyota Corolla.

And if it it's good enough for the ultra-spoilt for choice Americans, I dare say it's good enough for (you and) me.

I just hope they brought the dual tone white and black color scheme.
Corolla was a 16-20L car here. They launched this at 50L.

Yes you are correct. It is a mass market product elsewhere in the world. The problem is Nissan wants to sell this as a luxury product in India.

I think these previous-gen CBUs were probably left over RHD variants lying in the stockyard somewhere and the incompetent Nissan India management came up with this novel plan to please their international bosses.

I am interested in the actual sales numbers (to end customer) of this CBU.

Re: 2024 Nissan X-Trail Review

Sad to see such heart-breaking comments for such a competent car just because Nissan India messed up on the pricing. I had the opportunity to own one in 2024 and I am in awe of its features and capabilities on offer (I drive a higher variant though). The build quality and attention to details is league ahead of what Tata and Mahindra can offer.

There are a lot of differences between countries regarding 'Build Quality'. Nissan has philosophy called NPW (Nissan Production Way) which is similar to QDR (Quality, Durability and Reliability in production) and TPS (Toyota Production System). NPW is all about 'Just Enough' engineering. Nissan goes to minute details to reduce engineering costs for cars around the world. So a Micra for EU is different from a Micra in India. It is the same for all products. https://better-operations.com/2012/0...native-to-tps/

The problem is Nisan's X-Trail is a great product elsewhere. We've owned a Patrol in the middle east and owned a Micra in India. I am aware that they are cars of different segments. However, the Indian Micra does not seem to come from the same company. Nissan even has different product lines for RHD and LHD markets. The only major countries that have RHD cars is the UK, Japan, Australia and South Africa.

UK and Australia had their facelifts already. What we get is a previous gen watered down version of the car.

I can assure you the car you drove is much better than the car we have for sale in India and for a far lesser price.

Re: 2024 Nissan X-Trail Review

Look what I came across-

https://www.instagram.com/reel/C-dws..._web_copy_link

It seems that the current generation Nissan Rogue/X-Trail is prone to Turbo and engine issues, in its 3 cylinder avatar - the very same type that has been reviewed here. Nissan is under investigation, the video further says, for churning out such a problem-prone vehicle. Huh, how about that?

Re: 2024 Nissan X-Trail Review

1. X-Trail by Nissan, and no AWD at the least. Shocking.
2. No Spare Wheel. Even more Shocking. (Especially for someone used to carrying 02 Spare Wheels).
3. A first look impression: Was that a Mitsubishi Outlander?

We will probably find these X Trails in the used car market for mouth watering prices 5 years down the line (guesstimate of 10 lacs or so) but still finding no takers.

I don’t really think Nissan Honchos were that clueless when launching X Trail

As many others have pointed out they probably ran an inventory management exercise. Decoding VIN’s of media or test drive cars might throw a clearer picture reg date of mfg

Re: 2024 Nissan X-Trail Review

Someone has already bitten the bullet at FULL PRICE!

https://www-autocarpro-in.cdn.amppro...253A%252F%252F

I wonder if after selling around 30-40% inventory of the Xtrail, Nissan will declare it sold out and then start rolling out massive discounts just to up the marketing hype!
