Re: 2024 Maruti Swift Review

Is the Foglamp worth buying from Maruti? Part number is 990J0M75T11-040 but I don't see whether it is LED or halogen and what wattage.

Also, what about the rear camera?

Re: 2024 Maruti Swift Review

Is it just me or is this z series engine more fun, tractable and peppy compared to the bs6 k12 dual jet? I found the car to be more exciting to drive than the baleno and fronx that i drove recently. It picks up well, felt more torquey in gear. Didnt redline both but didnt feel any big difference up until 5.5k rpm. Most of the reviews including the likes of motorinc place the k12 higher, wondering why i felt this way.

You are right. The 3-cylinder Z-series engine in the current SWIFT is one of the best naturally aspirated triple cylinder petrol unit in our country. Suzuki has tuned this engine very well for low speed tractability, a pleasing mid-range and an acceptable top end. Heck, it even sounds sweet in the upper reaches of its rev band! The lovely, slick shifting manual gearbox adds to the charm and dropping down a ratio, maybe even two, to do that overtake on a single lane state highway is not a bother at all.

It is. Firmer dampers, thicker anti-roll bar, a revised steering rack endow the current Swift with a delicious handling finesse. Show it a set of corners and the nose tucks in beautifully, following the apex like a terrier let off the leash, the front end grip is terrific and you can actually feel the little Swift pivot around your hips as you flow through a series of twisty, curvy bends.

Add to this, the Swift's lightness of being, the absence of any "top-heavy" feeling and progressive rates of body roll : fun drives doesn't get much better!

The current Swift is one of the last of a dying breed, It is a living, breathing example of a simple, mechanical, analogue, fun to drive compact hatchback; in an era where cars are increasingly becoming mobile phones with wheels attached!
The Swift is certainly not the fastest or the most polished car, but it has this terrific ability to connect to your senses, specially the manual transmission version, and increase the serotonin levels in your brain!

The less said about modern day Indian motoring journalism the better. Car reviewers in India are now ten-a-penny. Everyone is "an automobile enthusiast and expert", and with the proliferation of a million online platforms vehicle reviews in India has become a laughable joke!
Subjective and objective evaluation of a motor vehicle is a very serious, time consuming, expensive and hard work. That is the reason why Test Drive Evaluators/Engineers at some of the global OEM's like; Ferrari, Lamborghini, Renault, Audi get paid more than the Chief Vehicle Engineer!

I think more than anything, it's the fact that people have driven/are used to the bs4 and early adoption of bs6 k12 engines which were actually exciting lower down and gave progressive mid and higher end performance. But the current engines, though not dead, are just not responsive enough in the lower revs. The engine may shine at the top end, but me having mechanical empathy mostly drive my vehicles within the 85% of the rev limit. And in this range, the z12 felt much better.

For someone who's going to use the car for daily commutes, wanted to know if i should go with a manual or the amt. I counted today and i depress the clutch ~500 times over my daily office commute of 50kms

For some reason all the showrooms around me have only AMT TD vehicles.
