Now that you have brought the topic up, I have to get another longer test drive on open roads to test it again.
I have also taken test drive of the 3XO AX5 automatic. The test drive had to be cut short as traffic started to increase near the dealership location and I was only able to test for about 5 kms overall where I could not go above 40 kmph.
The steering felt heavier in Sports (what Mahindra calls Zoom) mode and I drove mostly in this mode only. The steering is still lighter than my current car's hydraulic steering. I remember to test drive in all drive modes if the car offers one. Due to lesser time, I completely forgot this time.

Only when I was about 300 meters from delaership I asked SA about drive modes and he changed to City mode.
The steering felt very light and disconnected in City (which I believe is Zip) mode. I have also taken test drive of XUV700 and the steering of test drive XUV700 also felt too light and disconnected.
I am not sure if this is the case with all Mahindra cars now. The current owners could shed more light on steering feel in 3XO or XUV700.

I am yet to see any 3XO model in Whitefield Bangalore, in fact not seen any for the limited travel in Bangalore beyond Whitefield too. Not sure where all the delivered vehicles are going.

Re: 2024 Mahindra XUV 3XO Review

Got an update from dealer who initially was confident in delivering the car by July end (L variants) now seems uncertain and states next month Probably

I guess Mahindra is not producing more variants of (MX1,MX2,AX5L,AX7/L) mostly they are delivering AX5 and MX3 so the wait will be a lot.

Or is Mahindra waiting to hike price by delaying the deliveries, since AX5L is really VFM which offers electronic parking brake, ADAS, 360 camera etc which just costs 16.5 lakhs on road.

Will wait until August 7th for the Cruvv and may cancel since 3 months of waiting period for a cSUV with plenty of options seems too much.

AC performance is good, nothing to complain so far. Forgot to mention in the review that it has automatic climate control too and dual zone control is an added bonus! We also have a Volkswagen Polo in the family. In same weather conditions, while Polo cools down at 24 for example, 3XO cools down at 23. Since the XUV is a much bigger vehicle and also has sunroof, it makes sense in my opinion.

Having used the car now for 6 weeks, never once felt the 295 liter boot to be small. Yes, I agree that other cars in segment offer slightly more. But practically, one large suitcase usually is around 40 litre. You can easily fit at least 5 large adult airport suitcases in this boot.

For a small family of 2 adults and one kid, how often do you really carry that many huge luggage suitcases at once? Unless your job has you shifting places frequently or getting transferred frequently. Practical use case is minimum where you would even fill up the full 295 liters in the first place if you are just going on vacation for a week or so on average.

Before I bought the car, I had the same concern. But having seen the car in person during test drive, the boot size is practical enough to fit enough large suitcases for any family in most practical situations. XUV 300 having 257 litres is something which warrants your concern but the 3XO has a deeper boot which helps you fit suitcases more effectively.

I have seen very few 3XO in Hyderabad, but couldn’t figure out from the front of it was AX5 or AX5L based on 2 seconds glance.

XUV3XO is better product than XUV300, but Mahindra sales is still a let down. It took them 1.5 weeks to provide petrol automatic car for test drive. I wanted to experience AX5L variant and feel turbo petrol with automatic gearbox. They don’t have this variant available at any dealership and haven’t even bought one. This also makes me assume that either dealership has not received AX5L and whatever was billed to them is already sold.
They have AX7L available for display, but won’t take it out as a test drive car. On the contrary, Tata SAs were very proactive and got me a test drive Nexon Fearless+ in 2 days flat.

Previously, I owned a hatchback, the Figo 1st gen, for over 8 years, and I always felt its boot space was limited (290 liters ). I make a monthly trip to my native place, which is over 300 kms away, and I often bring back food items from there. The 3XO's boot space might suffice for occasional shorter trips, but for someone like me who needs more room, it might be worth considering other options.

I'm not discouraging anyone from buying the 3XO; it's a great car with excellent chassis and engines. However, those in need of larger boot space may need to explore other options.

Re: 2024 Mahindra XUV 3XO Review

I have the Nexon and the boot space is 100 litre larger.
We have frequent airport runs and a larger boot is a must. Even on our trips to Mangalore, this helps. The 3XO has my heart, and we might book one, but the limited boot space is still on our minds.

Re: 2024 Mahindra XUV 3XO Review

Got some interior photos of AX7L MT from my dealership's stock yard.

Dashboard looks upmarket.

Metal pedals looks nice.

Lower variants' pedals for reference:

No drive modes for the MT (only steering modes):

I absolutely agree. If the use case is there, it definitely makes sense to go for a larger boot, no doubt. In our case, the Polo which we have also had for 6 years has never had its boot space utilised completely for our usage in all these years. And, Polo has 280L in comparison. I guess it varies on a case to case basis.

I believe the official reviews have mentioned that while Tata Nexon's boot space is 382L, if we measure XUV 3XO's boot space in the same way, it is 364L. In fact, Mahindra mentions the same in their website too and all car specs comparison websites mention 364L for 3XO and 382L for Nexon when compared in identical way. Please do check the boot space out in person of both the cars back to back to get a clear idea of how different it practically is. On Youtube, there's one video which does exactly that. Nexon could fit one more suitcase compared to 3XO because of the boot dimensions. It may not be a dealbreaker as such in practical usage in my honest opinion.

Looks like there is not much difference in dashboard of AX5L and AX7 (apart from leatherette seats and panoramic sunroof)
AX5L that I test drove also had the same premium dash and metal pedals.

You may have to ask for a refund if they charged 6.5k; they charged 4.9k in IndiaGarrage Bangalore. There is no control over the prices.

Here's what AX7 offers above AX5L:
  1. Pano sun roof
  2. Harman Kardon Premium Audio with Amplifier & Sub-woofer
  3. Soft Touch Leatherette on Dashboard & Door Trims
  4. Leatherette Seats
  5. R17 Diamond Cut Alloys
  6. Auto Dimming IRVM - Generic aftermarket looking design
  7. LED Front Fog Lamps
  8. Front Parking Assist System - 5L gets the camera
  9. Glove Box with Illumination
  10. 65 W USB - C Fast Charging

And here's what AX5L has but the AX7 misses out:
  1. ADAS L2
  2. 360 camera system
  3. Auto Dimming IRVM - Premium bezel-less design
  4. Electronic Parking Brake with Auto Hold

With these features, AX5L is clearly a VFM.. that too around 40k cheaper than AX7.
In 40k, I should be able to get LED Front Fog Lamps, Leatherette Seats and add-on of Amplifier & Sub-woofer.

Upgrading the music system has been top of my mind ever since I booked my AX5L P AT. I'm looking for some guidance on whether installing aftermarket systems will void the company warranty; I will be only interested in installations that do not cut any wiring ofcourse.

Any thoughts?
