Because, in the showrooms here in Bangalore, only the AX5L onwards get that engine and it is a good Rs 1.3 lakh more expensive in the ex-showroom price itself. Mahindra should have announced this publicly so that more initial buyers could have encashed on this opportunity.
From what I understand the engine for the AX5 is luck based. While booking the AX5 TCMPFI and in the process of paying the booking amount, another sales representative came and asked the sales manager who was dealing with me if he should take the booking of AX5 TGDI. That was when I intervened and asked if it does exist and they said yes and I changed my booking to the TGDI. From what I understand, the initial batches of the AX5 (my was March manufactured) probably had the TGDI engine since usually the top-end variants get manufactured first which get the TGDI. But this is only my guess I am not sure of the actual reason. Many customers who booked the TCMPFI got the TGDI instead at the same price, 10,68,999 Lakhs ex-showroom. Then the showroom got a new price list where the AX5 TGDI was priced at 10,79,000 which is what I paid and also the ones who got the TGDI after booking the TCMPFI paid 10K extra. I believe my timing was perfect, would have missed it otherwise since they did not inform me until that moment and my car was allotted to someone who cancelled his booking so I got to have it.

I have seen a lot of AX5 TGDIs when I went to the stockyard for the PDI. So there's a chance there might still be a few if they're not allotted. The final On Road price I paid was 11.5 Lakhs because I needed BH registration. The insurance I took was from the showroom itself and no extended warranty or any accessories till now. I will be taking the extended warranty and get the fog lamps installed which will take the price to around 11.8 I think.

Thanks for sharing this. It is an absolute steal deal that you got it at such a good price! The on-road price also seems to be so much lesser because of the road tax being significantly lower in Assam I believe. In Bangalore, AX5 has a road tax of around Rs 2.05 lakh for the KA registration number. That is the reason on road prices get inflated here massively.

Initially I booked AX5 Diesel MT on May 18th. I have changed the variant to AX7 (primarily for Harman audio). Else I would have had the AX5 vehicle in hand by now.

Mediocre audio system which comes by default in AX5 didn't impress me at all. I heard Harman kardon audio in AX7L display vehicles at two places. I felt good with metallic and some bass music.

Did you try audio modes ?

Any specific observations why it wasn't felt good. Just curios to know as I am moving to AX7 primariliy for audio.

Can you please post the image of price list you got? The one I got from my dealer doesn't have AX5 TGDI mentioned. Neither does mahindra list it anywhere else.

I don’t have the price list with me. I didn’t even ask for a brochure. Just booked the car and told them I needed the car ASAP. I too was confused since the price list was not listed anywhere even on the website. It’s probably something at the dealer level. But they did show me on their phone to confirm that AX5 TGDI does indeed have a price.

The road tax is lesser because of the Bharat Registration which I have to pay every 2 years. But yes Karnataka road tax is too high. With Assam registration it was coming to about 12 Lakhs.

Congratulations on your new car and thanks for listing pros and cons. Car looks great in Deep Forest.

Wanted to go for Deep Forest or black but others in family preferred blue.

Re: 2024 Mahindra XUV 3XO Review

My status is still showing N/A 10 weeks after booking. My SA said that they are expecting more vehicles and will inform.

Can anyone who has taken delivery please let me know if the status changes in M4U app or Mahindra portal before dealer informs.

The dealer I booked from did not list AX5 TGDI variant. The popular sites I checked did not list them. Even mahindra website does not list it.

Variant existence is not at dealer level. If a manufacturer makes a variant, it's for everyone.

Do you have any official document on the variant? Please make sure you are not scammed by the dealer.

I had the same doubt initially. But the car model description that comes from Mahindra (not the VIN) has PG in it which stands for the TGDI. For the TPMPFI, it has PM in the model description, DSL for the diesel. Also the TGDI badge is present on the left fender.

I have already posted pics and experience for all of these, and last night was a whole new experience. Audio was upgraded to Audison, and premium high-end damping was done. The entire new world of audio experience, at this point, I will stop spending on this, and I think it's a complete package now I always listened to great-sounding systems. The one with AX5L disappointed me, and I went for a change. What I listen to now is amazing. We had some issues. One of the right door speakers needed to get power output. Later, they figured it was like that from the beginning, and the shop figured it out and fixed it for me. No wire cut was done, and all the company's original sockets were. AUTO STYLE from Kormangala did the job!
Red wheel arch applique with some sticker work and caliper painting!

Wow! The sticker work and red caliper painting is looking nice!
I am thinking to do the same for Black 3XO AX5L AT
about the red arch inserts. I can’t comment, can you share a picture taken from a distance? Also can you share some details around the cost for all of it?

Sure, I will do that. Thank you! Caliper paint - 2.5k, sticker 100Rs (Amazon), and the arch appliqué 1490 from Mahindra. The wheel arch applique looks good together with these. I will send some long shots when I go out! BTW, I took the magnetic sunshade as well. It is from Mahindra!

Yes, Mahindra now officially offers JBL Tech 3 however my suggestion for the same cost we could go with aftermarket Audison/JL Audio, etc which is going to be super value for money! Get it done from well-reputed places that know how to handle the wiring in the right way!

It's a good system but it isn't the best I have heard. It's way better than those in the lower variants for sure. For most songs that I listened to, it was decent. I mean everything about the audio is subtle and neat. It just won't make you go WOW!

I have fiddled around with the audio modes and finally understood that the default setting sounds better in most cases.

Nice information. I have the AX5L automatic and in the adrenox app it shows as AX5L PG AT CK, do you know what the CK stands for?
