Can you please explain.. what exactly. Is it very frustrating or bad experience and a deal breaker. Or can live with it ?

Normally I would expect the steering to match vehicle's movement but the 3XO felt like a video game steering wheel with almost zero counter force (feedback) from the wheels.

Now that you have brought the topic up, I have to get another longer test drive on open roads to test it again.

Also, there is a decent difference between Petrol and Diesel ride comfort. The diesel feels more planted and balanced despite the the fact that both are among the heaviest in the upto-4.3 meter category. A back to back drive will highlight this even more.

Diesels are available almost with ready delivery for MX3 models. The AMT is also livable in an urban day to day life.

MT buyers should really check their acceptance levels with the clutch travel and shift comfort (vibrations are more than the XUV300). The Aisin AT is really smooth but slightly more expensive at ~ 1.8 on-road difference.
I drive the petrol manual transmission of 3XO. In my experience so far, steering feedback is between decent to vague. But it is not at all way off in terms of the feedback you expect, to have safe and confident driving. There are no drive modes but it has steering modes in the AX5 variant. In city, I always have it in Comfort mode. While on highways, I always put it in Sports Mode. There's a Normal mode between these two which I have never found the need to use so far.

Till date, the highest speed I have clocked is 155 KMPH (Disclaimer: I do not in any way encourage high speed driving and always insist to stay within speed limits). At that speed, the steering had weighed up significantly as one would expect in a well built car. When changing lanes, it responded well. Did not feel unsafe or risky. The car was super stable at that speed, very planted indeed, did not waver or feel jerky or under strain even once. Really got impressed with how good the driving dynamics of the 3XO is during this particular highway drive.

In comparison, the other car in our family that I am used to driving since half a decade is the Polo, which is often credited as the car with one of the best steering quality. And, it is worlds apart in terms of feedback, for perspective. However, 3XO has a fair level of feedback but indeed feels slightly vague when you change lanes at high speeds. In my opinion, good driving skill can mask this particular facet of the steering

Clutch travel in petrol manual is very less, resulting in being very driver friendly. It is a light clutch too so it doesn't tire you when driving in high traffic. Diesel manual on the other hand has a lot of clutch travel I believe.

Thanks for sharing your experience.
I have booked AX5 AT, I don't think there is a seperate steering mode option there. Power modes will also alter the steering response I guess in that variant.

From your post, seems it's not too bothersome ( steering issue being discussed).
However I will try if I can get a longer test drives on a highway to specifically observe this point before buying.

Any thoughts?
Perhaps you could check out the audio upgrade options from the official accessory list?

Thanks for your first hand feedback! My current ride is Tiago and it too has good steering calibration. Is your AX5 a TGDI engine? May I ask your experience on the gear lever / overall vibrations of the 3 pot, specifically when releasing clutch from standstill and when the AC compressor kicks in? These are the pain points of my Tiago and I don't want to end up with the same set of drawbacks in the next car too

The TGDI engine which has 130 HP is available in AX5L, and it also comes with ADAS level 2 in the L series of variants. As mine is just AX5, it is the TCMPFI 110 HP engine. To be honest, it does have noticeable 3 cylinder vibration. I have actually mentioned this in dislikes in my detailed review in this forum. It is mainly see in the gear know during idling and sometimes when releasing clutch. When the AC compressor kicks in, there is no vibration noticed per se. Once the car starts moving, it is butter smooth. NVH levels are outstanding.

I had also test driven other 3 cylinder turbo petrols before finalising 3XO. Among them, Venue and Sonet had the least amount of vibration, but it was not entirely absent. Nexon had same level of vibration. Fronx too had it, but lesser than 3XO and Nexon. Personally, since the pros of 3XO were amazing and carried a lot of weight, I decided to compromise on this aspect. But I'd suggest that you take a test drive of all sub 4M crossovers available now to get an idea as to what degree it is going to be bothersome!

In 40k, I should be able to get LED Front Fog Lamps, Leatherette Seats and add-on of Amplifier & Sub-woofer.
I checked about audio system with Car accessories shop nearby home before booking AX7 variant.

They quoted 85K for Harman Kardon 7 speaker system with subwoofer and it will be installed under the seat. Skyroof, 17'' Alloy wheels, Leatherette dashboard and door will justify the price for AX7, IMHO.

Re: 2024 Mahindra XUV 3XO Review

Whitish interiors and seats make interiors of AX7 feels airy. The sky roof brings in a lot of light. AX7 has soft touch on dashboard as well as on door armrest upto the window glass (highlighted in red box in snap below)
There are very few cars which provide soft touch near window glass area.

I have only experienced XUV3XO AX7 skyroof inside showroom only. The sky roof ends halfway through the 2nd row. Because of this when the sky roof was opened inside the showroom, I didn’t get to see too much of showroom ceiling when I put my back on the rear seat completely.

I would like to know how is the experience of the skyroof from 2nd row, if anyone has got a test drive of AX7 or AX7L

Re: 2024 Mahindra XUV 3XO Review

Hi all, I am looking to buy a new car and am confused between 3XO AX7L Petrol Automatic and Sonet GTX+ Diesel Automatic. We were also considering Seltos GTX+ Diesel Automatic but the price difference of about 6 lakhs didn’t seem worth it for the additional benefits. Car will be used daily for commute of around 20KMs and twice a month on Mumbai Pune expressway. ADAS is a must for us and top variant is preferred since we keep our cars for over 10 years. Which of the two cars should be preferred? Would like to hear your views to make a better decision. Thanks in advance.

Re: 2024 Mahindra XUV 3XO Review

Hi All,

Have been using the MX3 Variant since a few weeks now. Noticed few of the below issues. Please let me know if anyone else faced same:-

1) Lot of vibration on the gear knob in 3rd gear even when at 1800-2200 rpm. I did not feel the same for other gears.

2) The other day i was at the signal and engine was turned off using auto start stop. I restarted the engine pressing the clutch but the engine started making a strange sound, like a rod hitting or something similar. The clutch was pressed the entire time. I switched the engine off using key and then again restarted. Now it was fine. If anyone faced similar, please do let me know.

Thanks.

Re: 2024 Mahindra XUV 3XO Review

Good morning all,

Had booked AX5L AT blue through PPS on Kanakapura road. Yesterday the BM informed me that the vehicle has been allotted and would come into Bangalore on 25th July. Would be taking the delivery in next week.

This is for the information of those who have booked the blue variant. Mahindra has started producing the nebula blue variant.

Re: 2024 Mahindra XUV 3XO Review

Good Morning everyone!
I had paid the booking amount for AX7L stealth black petrol AT through the dealership before the bookings started. They placed an order on 15th May 2024. Within the first 2 weeks, they called me twice saying they have Citrine yellow and Tango red available in case I want to switch.

I refused and the ordeal started. It lasted for 2 months with them postponing it week by week and making me follow up with them continuously. I got frustrated and wrote to their national sales head and within an hour, got a call from Mahindra Area Sales Manager who promised vehicle allocation within 10 days.

The car was allotted as promised, reached the dealership yard in the next 5 days. It went for registration yesterday and I am taking the delivery tomorrow

Now, the dealership is creating the same hassle with the accessories. I just asked them to provide the basics like mud flaps and bumper/door protectors.

I am planning to get some accessories (the ones that aren't safety critical) in the aftermarket.
I would be grateful if someone can help me with some quality guys in Chennai for floor mats, sun protection films, boot mats and floor mats, etc.

Good to know this! I too had booked on 15th May and will push SA based on this update. Hopefully will get Nebula Blue deliveries soon in Pune as well.
Meanwhile anyone from Pune who have got any update on Nebule blue deliveries?

On a side note: Is ceramic coated needed for Nebula blue? I have not owned any dark colour car before so not sure if any coating needed or not. I am sure I will not go for PPF coating for this segment, but evaluating options for ceramic coating from well known detailing shops, since I plan to own the car for long term.

Hi,

Congratulations! I am also in a similar situation. I had paid the booking amount on 2nd May for AX7 Dune Beige. The car is still not allotted to me. SA is giving random dates and changes it when that date is nearby. Could you please help me with the national sales head contact?

Thanks.

That’s great even I’ve booked AX5L in the same colour through India Garage a month but still no allotment could you share when you had booked.
