Re: 2024 Mahindra XUV 3XO Review

Off-topic:
It is beyond the comprehension, that why Mahindra doesn't provide auto-dimming IVRM in XUV700 or Scorpio-N which cost almost double of 3XO!

Re: 2024 Mahindra XUV 3XO Review

The 3XO looks like it has the potential to go the way of the 2020 Creta (ugly, good amount of features, sold well).

Shenanigans about boot space aside, I’m looking forward to seeing how this car performs in the market

Re: 2024 Mahindra XUV 3XO Review

There is so much to like about the new 3XO. It is a very compelling package with all those features. The basics were always promising, and with the new interiors, the 3XO is much more attractive that it previously was.

Just wish that Mahindra had given it a less-polarizing face, something like what I could do on MS Paint with 10 minutes at hand

Came here to say exactly this! Why on earth would you not offer that butter smooth TC unit with the diesel engine, Mahindra? Are there not enough customers demanding a proper diesel AT at this price point?

Re: 2024 Mahindra XUV 3XO Review

Once again, an excellent review.

Overall, a fantastic package from M&M I feel.
Yes, the looks are polarising or funky to say the least, but this will grow on us as we see more of them on the roads. And the boot space, though lower than competition, is definitely useable I feel for a family of 2 + 2.

Things that could have been implemented:
1. Shark fin antenna instead of that 80's stub - adds a lot more character to the vehicle. Cant fathom why this was never considered

2. Ventillated seats - this is such a useful feature to have over the sunroofs in my opinion. Would have been better if offered as an option or accessory.

Other than that, excellent combo of powerful engines/transmissions, loads of space, feature packed and decent pricing (for now) - this will sell.

I have to say that the edited version you have posted looks so good! This along with the original dimensions of Tivoli would have given Creta a run for its money. Not sure how the ugly front end was approved

Re: 2024 Mahindra XUV 3XO Review

Just been to showroom in Kandivali, Mumbai to check out the car. test drive available after 10th. There was a car available for display.

They setup a big screen TV to show features and colours which is great I dont know if thats case with mahindra as always as I went there 1st time.

Look wise it is looking big and great. back has always been great looking and front I think once sale starts and on the road it will be normal. I never disliked the look.

Background:-
I am in market for upgrading baleno CVT. It was great 7 years with that car. My budget is around 15L on road. Mostly mumbai city driving and occasional once a month highway driving.
So looking for petrol and proper automatic.

Shortlisted cars with their +ve and -ve
1. Breeza - don't want to repeat Maruti - internally lots of things looks same. got bored over interior
2. Nexon - didn't like overall look, and too common (God knows 3-4 generations and also ev)
3. Venue - looks outdated
4. Sonet HTX model - DCT - ticked most of the boxes - on road price around 14.85 and GTX DCT is one above but have 17.42 which is way beyond my budget and not much of value.
5. XUV 3XO - now with this launch it gave me three options AX5 - 14.43, AX5L - 15.95, AX7 - 16.54

So mainly looking between Sonet and 3XO.

Now my question is
1. Is ADAS actually useful or are we going to disable it most of the time so no point spending money on that. (Ruling out Sonet GTX and 3XO AX5L)
2. Your expert view on sonet HTX vs 3XO AX5 (similar price point)
3. AX5 to AX7 is 2L delta. Is that worth it? (Better engine, Leatherette everything and better speaker).

While ADAS is good to have, in my opinion its still something that can be skipped. Nonetheless I feel the AX5 L should be a good variant to go for with the TGDI engine and 6 speed AT.

Its has a good feature set, more than you need and is fun to drive as well.

Hope this helps

Re: 2024 Mahindra XUV 3XO Review

Power package engine, features, comfort., premium feel are class leading
but design / looks are overdone, from the pics it does not look like a car which is in the same class as nexon or venue, the puny rear end makes it look in the segment of punch/ ignis. May by on road the presence would be better

ADAS level 2 has things that will be very useful for you. At the same time, there are features which you will turn off almost 95% of the times. Having said that, it is good to have these latest tech features in your car and make it future proof. Why because during the next 10+ years of ownership whatever few times you will use the features it will make it TOTALLY worth it (there are threads on TEAMBHP where owners have narrated how ADAS has saved their lives)

2. Your expert view on sonet HTX vs 3XO AX5 (similar price point)

Koreans make better cars than Indians. But, we are getting there. We are doing such a good job with Tata and Mahindra nowadays. I would choose the Indian car over the Korean car just to support the absolutely excellent effort Mahindra has put behind the 3XO and all of its other cars in the last 2 years.

Now, to practically compare and decide which is the better car - well, its very neck & neck. Gone are the days when the foreign car would trump the Indian counterpart. Sonet has very sorted dynamics, looks very proportionate and will be slightly smoother than the Mahindra for sure. But..and this is a big but..the 3XO is so closely competent that it is really not much of a gamble choosing one over the other. Go with what pulls your heartstrings the most in terms of looks and feel good factor.

3. AX5 to AX7 is 2L delta. Is that worth it? (Better engine, Leatherette everything and better speaker).

My honest opinion, go for the top model. In the long run, you will never regret getting the top model. The Mahindra 3XO AX7L will go beyond your budget a little bit but in terms of EMI it will be nothing. You know your finances better so its easier said for me but I am only trying to push a fellow BHPian to buy a car which will leave no regrets at all in the 10 years of ownership.

1. I would like to provide my two cents here based on my recent purchase of Creta. I would say that adaptive cruise control (I'm assuming 3XO also has it) is my most used ADAS feature, sometimes even within Bangalore's traffic. Do test it out yourself though before jumping the gun. Also, ADAS will future-proof your car to some extent.

2. For diesel you get a proper auto with Sonet while the 3XO gives you an AMT. In the case of petrol, Sonet comes with a fun-to-drive DCT but it does have reliability concerns in the long run, so I would prefer the 3XO's TC unit any day for everyday traffic abuse.

3. No comments here as I'm not well informed about the feature differences. But my general mantra has been that if budget permits always go for the topmost variant so that you don't have any regrets later on. You can't add certain features aftermarket which can be found only in topmost models (e.g. pano sunroof, ADAS, etc.)

Hope this helps and all the best with your new car purchase decision.

Re: 2024 Mahindra XUV 3XO Review

One interesting observation on the price difference for petrol L variants:

Between AX5 and AX5 L: 1.3 lakh (engine upgrade and 5 extra features)

Between AX7 and AX7 L: 1.5 lakh (same engine, 3 extra features)

How does this make sense?

Re: 2024 Mahindra XUV 3XO Review

Where are my "pros" and "cons"? I read only that for reviews of cars for which I have no interest. Granted there is a link to old review but I think having those mentioned for all reviews is a good idea.

Re: 2024 Mahindra XUV 3XO Review

Is it the same ASIN 6-speed TC AT gearbox that comes with both petrol engines? Which is the cheapest variant that has ASIN 6-sp TC AT gearbox?

Re: 2024 Mahindra XUV 3XO Review

I haven't driven one. I haven't even been driven in one. But the 300 has always kept me interested. The sheer visual quality of the interiors, space, the torque on diesel, and a commitment by Mahindra to keep improving, make this car worthy a segment above. The sheer comfort provided by quality materials and driving a longer wheelbase car cannot be matched by the smaller ones. If, and only if, they had made it Creta sized...

And to folks calling the 300 a flop, not sure why you think a car consistently selling 4/5k units per month despite the smaller boot and supposedly dated interiors, is a flop. I can tell you, the visual quality of its interiors is much better than Creta, which is the leader in the next segment. And I'm pretty sure they feel and are if a high quality. The Creta really felt plasticky, artificial, and light, all the times I have been or driven it.
