Re: 2024 Mahindra XUV 3XO Review

Took the AX5L AT Petrol (grey) delivery today.

Quick summary of my observations:
  • After quickly wrapping up the paperwork, we spent a good hour and a half inspecting the car and asking questions. We got a demo of all the features (they promised a home demo of Adrenox features after KYC is done which they estimated to be 3-4 days)
  • CarPlay, Alexa do not work yet. I got a text and email from Mahindra thanking me for my patience while they work through certifications (?!)
  • The car has Apollo ApterraCross tires and I'm still undecided on whether or not I should swap them out. My driving will predominantly be in the city with occasional highway drives. Would love feedback on these tires from other BHPians.
  • I got 7D floor mats, mud flaps, and door sill protectors installed. Fog lamps, parcel tray, and Seat covers are not in stock. Seat covers are awaiting ARAI clearance (airbag compatibility) and will probably take a couple of weeks.
  • I'm still undecided on PPF or ceramic. I will probably just get a ceramic coating done and pray the kids that play in the basement don't scratch the car.
  • It was a very short drive back home (3 km) and loved the way the car drives. I'll post detailed feedback a few days later after clocking some km.

Many congratulations. Safe drives. I have also booked the same colour albeit in AX5 Manual. Eagerly waiting for delivery.

It can be activated by pushing the wiper stalk towards the dashboard (opposite of what is done to activate the front spray). It will keep spraying (and wiping) as long as the wiper stalk is held in that position. Also both the front and rear ones share the same tank.

Hope this helps

In the case you're just trying to figure out how to trigger the rear washer, you have to push the wiper stalk towards the dashboard.

So if you're getting the spray on the front windshield wash, the system still has water in it.

If you are unable to get the rear windshield washed even after pushing the stalk, it's this bug.

The rear wiper spray and wiper are WILDLY out of sync on the XUV300. You have to keep it held in the rear wash mode for a few seconds to get water to even appear.

You can check the XUV300 thread, and many have reported this exact issue.

Surprisingly Kia Sonet turbo T-GDi recommends 91 octane. Wonder why.

I tried to talk to SA of Kia and Mahindra. Neither really care about 91 or 95. They just want to get the booking done by the customer.

Out of curiosity, I actually checked the user manuals of Kia/Hyundai (Sonet, Seltos, Creta, Venue), Maruti (Fronx and Brezza) and Škoda/VW. Except Škoda/VW all other brands recommend 91 octane petrol even for their Turbo engines.

Only Mahindra and VW group recommends 95 octane petrol. Even in that VW at least says not to use below 91 but better to use 95 but Mahindra only recommends 95 for both Tcmpfi and GDi.

Not sure what could be reason where all the manufacturers use the same direct injection turbo technology engines.

3XO will never be in position to become segment leader as you know Mahindra do not have that much capacity right now.

They said during launch that they have plans for manufacturing 9000 units only per month. So if we take this at face value and considering initial euphoria they can only sale upto 10k units per month max.

Game will change once they clear all backlog and deliver all the 50k to 60k bookings. After this they will push vehicle to dealers and then only we can see 3XO crossing 10k monthly mark in my opinion.

So we need to wait and see after say 4-6 months to get actual flavour of market response.

Game will also change if Mahindra increase the prices of lower variants MX1 and MX2. Then it will be no more VFM category and people like me will definitely move to market leaders like Brezza and Nexon for AT.

What is your take?

Thanks!

XUV 700/300 has it; it is just a matter of rebuilding the same code base for this. If I am not wrong anyway, I am a bit disappointed.

This appears to be related to a dispute between mapmyindia and Google.

Mahindra and recently kia India has recently tied up with mapmyindia.

Looks like apple car play and android auto are likely blocked in the future.

Please lower your expectations!

Thanks! This could be the reason my rear wipers aren't washing yet. It may also be that I have not correctly pressed the stalk; will try and figure out!

Would you be willing to say a bit more on this? My car (AX5L) already has Android Auto in it; there is only no Apple CarPlay and in-built navigation. Thanks!

Re: 2024 Mahindra XUV 3XO Review

Mahindra is pushing Adrenox with mapmyindia. Adrenox is a paid subscription with annual fee of Rs 5000.

They are stonewalling the software update for car play and android auto.

The situation is fluid and could change if enough users push them to provide the software update.

Here is a news item.

Re: 2024 Mahindra XUV 3XO Review

Hello BHPians,

I booked Diesel MT AX5 three weeks ago at Mahindra Automotive (Chromepet, Chennai). I chose the Deep Forest colour (anyone else with the same pinch? ).

Before making my decision, I test-drove the following:

1. Maruti Suzuki Brezza: Liked it in terms of driving, suspension, and response. Being a Maruti car user, I wanted to try other vehicles, especially diesel ones, to get better mileage.

2. Tata Nexon: Test drove the Creative Plus Diesel MT variant. Stylish design, looks premium inside. However, the backseat legroom is cramped. When I sit in the back, my knees touch the driver's seat (I'm 5'11"). Knee jerks are assured when brakes are applied (not sure if anyone else felt it). On top of that, compared to the equivalent variant, XUV 3XO AX5, it's 1 lakh more expensive.

3. Mahindra XUV 3XO: Drove the XUV 3XO Diesel MT AX5, and within a few minutes, I felt a connection with the vehicle (just like Jake does with the Dragon in the Avatar ). My wife also liked it, and we booked the vehicle.

Any insights on the following queries will surely help me:

1. Insurance Outside the Dealer: Has anyone opted for insurance outside the dealer? The dealer quoted ~75K and is reluctant to give any discount. When I checked with Royal Sundaram and HDFC Ergo, both quoted around 40K. The salesperson mentioned that Mahindra's own insurance has advantages. I personally know how peaceful Maruti insurance is, in terms of claim process. Not sure if it’s the same with Mahindra insurance. Please share your thoughts.

2. Variant Selection - AX5 or AX7: I am not impressed with the default music system in AX5. The Harman Kardon system in AX7 felt next level. For me, it’s an immersive experience. As we know, AX7 additionally offers a sky-roof, dual-tone, leather dashboard and seats, 17” alloy wheels, and other features. I am swinging between the AX5 and AX7 variants. I know it’s a personal choice, but is it advisable to go for the AX7 shelling out 2 lakhs more, or should I get an audio system installed outside Mahindra?

3. Delivery Delay in Chennai: Before booking, the salesperson mentioned a 45-day waiting period. Now he says around 10 weeks. Not sure how long I need to wait. Will booking with another dealer help? I can cancel one of the bookings once the vehicle is delivered.

Thanks,

I too have chosen the Deep Forest colour (I feel it looks the best in this colour). However, dealer is mentioning availability for Deep forest will be a challenge and waiting time will be more than a month for the variant I have selected (AX5L AT Petrol). You can check if the delay in delivery is more due to variant or due to colour. I don't want to budge on the variant but may go for a more easily available Nebula Blue.
Anyone else has got delivery 3XO with Deep forest colour? I'm looking to see how it looks along with some accessories.

This definitely looks like the dealer trying to carve out a huge margin. For my AX5L, they initially quoted 65K and settled for 46K. For the same quote, they let me choose any major provider and I went with HDFC. I could have probably got it outside for a little cheaper but went with this for peace of mind in the event of a claim.

It is imperative we see the 'deep forest' colour in person before buying. In catalogue, it looks really nice.

Re: 2024 Mahindra XUV 3XO Review

I recently received delivery of XUV 3XO AX5 automatic (TCMPFi). Few people are recommending XP95 petrol. As per my understanding, XP95 petrol is only available at IOCL petrol pumps. Am I correct? My showroom guy told me to use normal petrol only. I have multiple HP petrol pumps near my residence. DO HP have any alternates to XP95??
