They recommend the Sonet over the 3xO for city driving. Even the Powerdrift reviewer shares this view. To me, the Sonet feels more like a hatchback and safety is a big concern. For those who have driven the TGDi Automatic, how noticeable is the turbo lag? Is it problematic for Bangalore traffic? The Taigun 1.0L also has issues, such as a lack of basic features and poor AC performance. I'm very confused, especially since this is my first car.
1. Since you are going to buy your first car, turbo lag doesn't affect you much. You will get used to it, even if it is there. Turbo lag affects your driving style only if you have already been driving a car without much turbo lag and your second car which you would buy has pronounced turbo lag.
2. Turbo lag, even if present, affects mostly long drives, not much in bumper to bumper / city driving, which usually happens at B'lore.
3. In the official review here, on Team-BHP, it is mentioned that the 1.2 L TGDI masks the turbo lag very well (AX5L, AX7, AX7L). Further, the official review also mentions that the city driving is not an issue at all for 1.2L TGDI.
4. The TDGI has not been made available at B'lore for test drive yet, only MPFI has been made available, to the best of my knowledge.
5. I would advise you not to take decisions based on reviews, reviews are only for your understanding and indicators. Take the final decision based on the sufficiently long test drive with your family. All the best.

Thanks for your detailed input. It's very helpful. And sorry for posting other reviews here.

TGDi is not available in Bangalore yet. I took a test drive in my hometown Raipur and it felt quite powerful on the highways.

It’s an open forum buddy, one can post whatever they want as long as it’s not against the forum rules and it’s a relevant topic.

Regarding your query, I would say, take back to back test drives of the cars you have short listed and then decide. Because, no car is perfect, it’s about which car fulfils your requirements the best. All the best.

P.S. My friend here in Raipur is also car shopping and incidentally he is confused between the Taigun & 3X0 too.

3XO AX5 and Taigun Highline with discounts is not far, cross shopping is possible.

Re: 2024 Mahindra XUV 3XO Review

I was supposed to take my AX5L AT Petrol delivery today; however, I got a call from the dealer stating that Mahindra announced an S/W update, and due to that delivery may get delayed.

Sure, he is free to post, I didn't say he shouldn't post here. What all I said was "BETTER to discuss there ...", especially to find out which model they were referring to when they said there is turbo lag.
I agree with you completely when you suggest him to take more test drives and then decide.
However, please note that Taigun is a segment above 3XO. The former is in 4.2 m segment, where as the latter is in 4 m segment.

Re: 2024 Mahindra XUV 3XO Review

My favorite Auto journo's review is out.

Excerpts-
  • Lower variants make more sense
  • Rear seats are most spacious in segment but uncomfortable, front seats are great
  • Gearbox is smooth but not fast. Presence of paddle shifters could have helped
  • 1.2 GDI is FAST, but impractical to use in City. The 1.2 MPFI is a better engine for regular city use
  • NVH is good
  • Brakes were great
  • Steering feel and feedback is below average
  • Suspension is stiff but mature
  • Boot is small but useable if you are good at planning
  • Few inconsistencies- AC sometimes working, sometimes not, parking sensors going off randomly, lag in 360 degree cameras, changing drive modes on fly is cumbersome, ADAS not calibrated well enough

@ Mods- Just noticed someone else has already posted link for this review. If inappropriate please delete this comment.

I felt they should've been more comprehensive and descriptive about certain aspects like drivability, ride quality, etc. It had more chit chat than actual content. While the conversation was interesting, but the content was lesser than expected.

AC was an important observation. This would be a deal breaker for a lot of people. Mahindra needs to fix the AC.

Re: 2024 Mahindra XUV 3XO Review

Finally cancelled my 3XO petrol AT booking owing to dealer's inability to give any clear answer on delivery timelines. I had booked on 15th Evening.

With such lacklusture or "take it or leave it" attitude of Mahindra dealers, I shudder to think what would be the after sales be like.

If pre-sales is so bad, after sales would be a nightmare!

No, thanks, I'll rather be with Koreans or Japs (or even Tata).

To give you a perspective about after sales: I have owned Marutis, Hondas and Mahindras. In both Maruti and Honda, I just give them a call in the evening for the scheduled service and the pickup guy promptly reaches to me 10 AM of the following morning.

For Mahindra, even getting a scheduled service is a task. First of all, it needs to be booked 4 days in advance. Then even slightest of the issue that is outside of the scope of regular, they say they will need a few days to inspect and work on it. Sometimes they don't have enough labor, sometimes the parts.

...and the sole reason they mention for this chaos is the sheer quantity of vehicles that Mahindra sells. Neither the showroom, nor the service centers were built to handle such a quantity. What do you think will happen when any infrastructure was built to handle 100 units and now they have to handle 500 units in the same time frame? The service center in my city feels like a "kumbh mela" every time, and it's so crowded that it even blocks all the adjacent roads and lanes. That entire area becomes hard to navigate during day times.

Though ofcourse, it's my own city's experience. Other cities may be different.

Re: 2024 Mahindra XUV 3XO Review

Seems like M&M themselves want to dissuade customers from getting a Diesel. First launch the Diesel with the hated AMT gearbox then don't provide a single test drive vehicle to anybody interested in trying one out to see if it makes sense. I was unable to find a single showroom that had a D AMT available for a TD, here in BBAY.

I honestly still can't believe, they didn't get a TC box supporting 300nm gearbox from Aisin, considering their really good on-going supply chain relations with them and that the THAR already has it.

P.S: If someone has tried out the D AMT, would appreciate your feedback on it, wrt smoothness of shifts, the dreaded head-nod, perceptibility of gear shifts in lower/higher gears, etc.

Finally, I have the machine with me (XUV 3XO AX5L AT Petrol). It was a fabulous and super quick showroom delivery experience last evening. Of course, there is fantastic traffic on Friday evening. I never felt tired or feared driving a new one! It is so buttery and smooth, with no lag/jerk whatsoever! TGDi and TC’s marriage was awesomeness here!

Traffic, auto hold features, and electronic parking brakes are blessings in Bangalore. Absolutely no worries. It is beautiful and pleasant overall, making you feel like driving more kind of a car. Usually, in my earlier Venue SX Plus Turbo DCT, I used to keep adjusting my seat height/steering angle, etc, but in this, I haven’t done those even once! Just using all the defaults. More importantly, the suspension hats off to the engineers and the technology - it is a smooth experience even with MRF wanderer tires.

DOORS/Bonnet/Boot strength makes you feel comfortable, and the front and back cabins are roomy! It is super comfy for three at the back and has pleasing legroom. I have yet to try Adrenox. I will post it in my next review; stay tuned until then.

I took it to Hot Tracks (a reputed accessory shop) and fixed Rat Attack Pro first thing. Yes, my apartment basement is a bit challenging. I also changed the cabin light to all LED (Philips brand). The halogens inside weren’t great, and if I have mentioned cons, only one was the driver-side pillar, especially while making a turn—I will probably get used to it.

Good-quality mats and chrome door handles are not yet available; I’m looking forward to changing those. Overall, driveability in the city and on the highways will be enjoyable! I’m planning to get on Mysore Highway soon. I will keep you all posted here.

Re: 2024 Mahindra XUV 3XO Review

Diesel AMT TestDrive was available and I hated it!

This is missed opportunity for Mahindra. Shifts are erratic, head nod, etc spoiled the brilliance of that great diesel heart. For reference, I simply loved the Diesel Manual and the Petrol TGDi Auto

Congrats! The car looks awesome.

I’ve been allotted my AX5L petrol AT as well and completed the payment yesterday. They’ve promised to let me do a PDI at the dealership tomorrow or day after (apparently they don’t allow us to go to stockyard anymore). How was your PDI experience and how many KMs did your car have on odo during delivery? Looks like I’ll mostly get the car on Thursday.

Re: 2024 Mahindra XUV 3XO Review

Today there was a Grand Event organized by Automotive Manufacturers (PPS Motors), Pune in Hadapsar location for Deliveries XUV 3XO. They just opened in Pune and very prominent in South India. Looks like they are off the mark with Grand Event.

Event was big and looked like well organized. Most prominent colors for deliveries were White and Nebula blue.

It was communicated that almost 100 deliveries were there.

Dealer has not communicated about this event to me as there were no deliveries of variant i booked, and he said MX1 and MX 2 Pro AT are not yet delivered to anyone.

The event also had awaiting deliveries for XUV 700, Thar and ScorpioN.

After 3XO mostly ScorpioN was there, shows the popularity among the customers.

Here is million dollar question i asked these guys celebrating grand event that when you will deliver the "Poor" people variants (MX1, MX2 and MX 2 PRO AT) and answer was "Next Month". So looking at these deliveries and confidence of sales guys i think this may happen soon.

They also told that Mahindra has allocated the 300 units of vehicle to them and we can expect the lower variants in that.

Lets hope for the Best!

Sharing the Pics here with you all.

Re: 2024 Mahindra XUV 3XO Review

Saw a 3XO for the first time. Yep, it looks hideous. And its only the front. The sides and rear are absolutely fine. Better to buy in a darker shade.

I have watched a lot of cartoons, read a lot of comic books while growing up. So, I tend to visualise, imagine, compare regular things with cartoons, shapes and sizes.

And these DRLs look like a split moustache to me
