Re: 2024 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Review

They should bring the Avenger; both ICE and EV versions. Localise it here (i.e. bring it under 4m length). Jeep critically needs a mass market product. Their sales currently are abysmal to say the least. The Avenger is a terrific product and has got rave reviews in Europe. This product can shake sub 4m compact SUV segment.

Hey, our trail guide... This has never happened before, the guide from the media drive replying to our review.

Thanks for your kind words. You were incredibly helpful during the drive. Thanks a lot for putting up with our obsessive photography and allowing us to try things off the script.

Why? This seems really odd for a vehicle like this and at this price and segment.
No. 1 star Euro-NCAP Rating. There is a difference.

Re: 2024 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Review

Thanks for the review; there are considerable changes in the current version, from a full float rear axle to lots of electronics.
The one that I want to retrofit is the front camera. but I have a front bonnet lockand would be difficult apart from wiring and other modules; it must be very useful when you do any stiff climbs.

Some subtle but important changes
1> Proximity local and unlock;
2> Aux switches
3> Better audio system with rear speaker ( Alpine, music system and amp)
4> ADAS

These were already there in all markets except India in the previous version, but now it's here with other newer changes.

It's good to see some brands stick to off-road friendly engineering, when the world is moving away from it. It was sad to see the new defender.

Another advantage of FFA is that one could attach free-wheeling hubs, which allows the vehicle to be towed by unlocking the hub if the axle is broken.
Infact removing the axle flange would be an easier and reliable fix than Free Wheeling hubs on rear.

The turning radius isn’t tight and you will end up taking 3-point turns at places. It doesn’t feel very connected, but that’s something we see quite often with off-road cars.
This should be mainly because of the solid axle limitation.

The Rubicon comes with 17-inch wheels with mud terrain tyres.
Have you tried it extensively on-road? How is the braking and NVH of these tyres?

but the ratio is 4:1, which is astonishing.
I personally dont think 4:1 is the right ratio for India. It's too slow. Mainly rock crawling. Our style is more east based on speed. In slush and sand this will perform really bad.

Does anyone know where the Radar unit is placed in the 2024 Rubicon?

As far as I know, there is no front Radar for the ADAS, which is purely camera-based and behind the rear view mirror.

Re: 2024 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Review

This is a great legendary vehicle. It has roots in the Willys jeeps and for decades was in our minds as our own police jeep. It took me many many years to realise that Jeep is a company.

Anyway, coming to Jeep Wrangler, nice to see Jeep taking an aggressive approach. It would attract the rich show-off buyers who won't bother about the price tag. That segment is the one who will buy Wrangler in India, plus serious off roaders. Otherwise with such price tag, there won't be many customers.

Mod Note: Too many errors in the post. Please review before posting.

I don't think ADAS was available when the previous upgrade was launched in 2018. Even proximity unlock. Remote engine start was available though alongside alpine music system with a subwoofer.

The stabilizer bar less initial JL gave me chills along my spine once when I went over a pothole. Then I found out it's a known issue famously called as death wobble. FCA did fix it free of cost by installing the stabilizer bar.

It’s been there as an option with previous version, 2018 was a when JL got launched. Every year there has been numerous iteration. The latest version is still JL but now have better security ( specifically curtain airbags), 12 inch display, full float(not every version, only rubicon x ), factory fitted winch, and electrically operated front seat which can be operated even if submerged in water. These are newer feature to this model, else everything has been in previous version.
International (RHD) version produced in India and exported to other RHD countries never had these feature, but now they do.

Re: 2024 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Review

Folks - I'm considering purchasing a Rubicon Wrangler as a second car in near future.

I have started exploring deals across dealers and have few questions on my mind to arrive at the total cost of purchase (minus the service maintenance costs) before I firm up my decision.

At the onset, thank you for the pearls of wisdom shared across threads about owning this vehicle. I agree, it's a consideration driven by heart and not as much by mind. But Im trying to convince my mind to make the decision.

1. What mods should be considered to make the driving experience better on highways? (I can think of switching to all terrain tyres, additional lights, bumper, 360 camera?)
2. What's the approx cost of these mods (looking for a range here)
3. How's the 2nd row seating experience compared to a hilux? (Wifey absolutely hated the comfort in 2nd row of hilux during a recent test drive)

My dilemma: If I have to do a drive to mountains with friends, how comfortable is the 2nd row seating experience over long periods compared to a Hilux / Vcross ?

I'm not into hardcore offroading and the purpose of getting the car is to do tricky terrains with ease (Read Ladakh, North East, maybe a cross country drive to London some day ). I know there are other capable off-roaders in the market and I'm in the process to test drive 4x4 vehicles in India.

Additionally, a dealer in Nagpur is offering me discounts worth INR 3L (on ex-showroom) and INR 6L (on road price). When I enquired about the break-up of discounts, the dealer mentioned about leverage on insurance and some cash discount, which I found surprising since they mentioned to offer 1 year + 3 year insurance which is the norm I guess these days. So, is there margin built into insurance (worth INR 3L?)

Also, the price break-up from Landmark Gurgaon left me baffled since it includes a line item for delivery/documentation charges worth INR 2.36L. When I enquired about it, I got a generic response. Has anyone dealt with Landmark Gurgaon to negotiate discounts? Keen to connect and understand what can be done here...
