Re: Citroen C3 Aircross Automatic launched at Rs 12.85 lakh

Brilliant pricing. There is no other vehicle in the segment that offers a strong turbo-petrol engine, a torque converter automatic at this price (less than 14 lakh ex-showroom). I hope they get the safety factor right.

Seems to drive well also, based on the the Team BHP review and the Autocar review that just got published. Citroen needs to get the Safety factor right.

They lost the safety game already. Not offering 6 Airbags even as as option and lack of cruise control in an Automatic is suicidal in this age.

Agree. Hope this helps them get decent numbers to build brand visibility and credibility. Guess it's a circular loop - they won't be able to scale up sales and service points ( read: investments) with their current volumes and their volumes won't go up unless they have a reasonable sales and service network.

Re: Citroen C3 Aircross Automatic launched at Rs 12.85 lakh

Why would 1 choose this over Ertiga/XL6 top automatic variant, since they are roughly in the same range iirc?
Especially when one is looking for 6/7 seater cars (whatever category you want to call it - Muv, C-Suv, et al)!

Wow Torque converter and turbo petrol? That's a combo that you don't hear very often! For those who feel DCTs are not reliable in our traffic/climate this is an interesting option.

Re: Citroen C3 Aircross AT Review

The car has missed some crucial features. Keyless entry, engine stop/start, ACC, 6 airbags, and cruise control have become the bare essentials for buyers in this segment. Buyers will not compromise on these, just for the sake of a lower price. I feel Citroen should have offered this vehicle at a slightly higher price (say just little short of 15 lakhs for the top end) and provided all these essential features. They should also have safety tested the car via BNCAP to deliver a four or five star level safety before the AT launch. If the head done these things, the car would offer a very good practical and value based alternative in the mid size AT SUV category.

Some other cars with this combo are the Skoda/VW 1.0 TSi AT and the discontinued VW Polo 1.0 TSi.

Re: Citroen C3 Aircross AT Review

We need to see this objectively. For the price, we are getting a more than decent engine+gearbox combination. May I add a better handling and dynamics package than its 6, Triber,Carens base version), and a genuine practicality of a 7-seater. Cruise Control is in my opinion the only sore miss. The rest of the missing features as mentioned above in the forum are niceties that IMO are not deal-breakers to what a car should be.

I believe when we are comparing the features, we are not comparing at the price point. We are comparing the top specs without normalizing the price.

The genuine concern should be how it performs in the hilly regions of India with 7 on board along with luggage. The ASS IMO though a concern due to the limited reach, in reality is a subjective matter. ASS for Maruti and Hyundai are only ones with decent support, rest of them even with reach are on the same boat.

Re: Citroen C3 Aircross AT Review

A car is an aspirational product one invests. For that to happen, customers are constantly juggling between mind over heart or vice versa decisions before making a final purchase. The C3 offerings from Citroen certainly hasn't been able to make heart flutter though. Maybe someone whose mind takes over the heart and sees value in current Citroen's offerings.

If Citroen is serious about India, they should do away with immediately those inferior looking plastics, switches, key, door handles and do a bench marking with the Koreans in terms of the perceived interior cabin experience. Add a couple of convenience features, auto AC, Push start, Normal type door handles, Ventilated seats, Sunroof(single/dual based on the model).

Net net, they must improve the in-cabin experience. Yes, Indians love Value for money products, NOT NECESSARILY CHEAP.

I should have qualified my surmise. I was only thinking of the following aspects. But I have not test driven it myself yet but hope to do so soon.
1. Design language
2. Stand out factor from the common herd
3. Responsive engine plus transmission combination
4. The Comfort factor of the Citroen suspension
5. The Quality of fit finish and overall finesse

You are right. Car manufacturers in India should be offering lower specification vehicles. It is unfortunate that the buyer psyche in India has been played upon by manufacturers for a number of years. This has led to the perceived belief of what today should be a 'most basic features'.

For example, vehicles in other developed markets still have the tried and tested coded keys, press a button to lock and unlock the car, twist the key to start the car and more. On this count I admire Maruti.

Re: Citroen C3 Aircross AT Review

Great pricing for the AT variants! Not sure how many vehicles can Citroen sell at this price before they start giving away huge discounts like they did in the case of MT.

So, what we get is a mechanically sound 4.3m SUV for a price that is comparable with feature-rich sub 4m compact SUVs, like Venue and Sonet.

Re: Citroen C3 Aircross AT Review

The review should have covered the safety part. It's hard to believe a top model 7 seater without curtain airbags and cruise control especially when manufacturers like Hyundai are equipping even base variants of base models with 6 airbags. our highways have gotten very fast some on par with international standards with some of the most stupid drivers on the planet.

Re: Citroen C3 Aircross AT Review

Good to see that they are listening to the demands. Lunch of an AT is a welcome addition. Also, I noted all the colours of the car in the new media images are conventional colours (White, Grey, Blue), out goes the wacky orange. So, they are changing themselves, for sure.

Also, feature omission and cost-cutting are two different approaches. The cheap interior plastics, cheap door handles, a keyhole on the door, saving money on switches, etc were the main reasons why Citroen received much criticism. Had that not been there, they wouldn't have been targeted the way they are being now.
