Atleast in my Creta, the port powers when the ignition is ON. It should be the same in the latest generation as well.
But why you want to add a power bank? Can be dangerous.

If you do not want to hardwire it, route it via the A pillar onto the 12v socket. That's what I did. Just be careful while fiddling with the A pillar as you have the airbags. But a complete DIY.

But refrain from keeping the power bank inside the car.

Thanks ridersam, you were right after all.
I purchased an original Samsung usb to type-c cable and Android Auto popped up like magic.
(type-c to type-c didn't work, that's why my original Google pixel cable didn't work either)

Pity that there are too many cables now in the dash though.

Re: 2024 Hyundai Creta Facelift Review

I finally got my Creta SX Tech delivered on Thursday exactly 2 months after booking. The delivery went smooth, did not take more than 15-20 mins from the committed time. Would appreciate the showroom for that.
Had done the delivery inspection couple of hours earlier. Odometer showed 15kms. SA informed that there is only 5lts of fuel at max
Only mudguard and 3-D mats installed as accessories. Thanks to BHP team for all the feedback to earlier queries.
Attaching a pic of the delivery.

Driving from showroom was fun. The dry & hot Bangalore summer gave way for some amount of good rain as soon as I started from the showroom. I could understand why white LEDs aren't the best in rain since I have to drive through some narrow congested roads to reach my house. Still, was many notches better than my Ritz. The drive comfort is miles ahead. Need to get used to CVT lag when moving from standstill (since I'm used to flooring my manual diesel Ritz without any worry about mileage). Otherwise, the car seems easy to drive & manoeuvre.
1. Planning to install a dashcam next. Let me know if you have any good suggestions for accessories fitment in and around HSR Layout, Bangalore or Yelahanka, Bangalore.
2. Also, let me know if anyone installed screenguard for the infotainment system.
3. Has anyone felt the need for foglight or installed one ?

I did try it out today and it works as you mentioned. Cigarette lighter port works only when the ignition is On. When I turn it off, the dashcam switches off as well. However the USB-A port powers the dashcam even when the ignition is turned off as well. Haven't checked the USB-C port behaviour as the dashcam power input has USB-A port only.
The reason I was planning to use the Power bank is because I was worried that if the cigarette lighter port or the USB-A port is powered by the car battery, then the frequent charge and discharge will impact the battery life.
I did get a 24000 mAH power bank and I use that for the dashcam when I drive. After driving, I bring it back home and charge it fully for the next drive. This way I will at least have peace of mind that I am not impacting the car battery in anyway as I still dont have an answer on whether the cigarette lighter port is being powered directly by the engine power or it is via the car battery.
I do keep the power bank away from direct sunlight and keep the AC on in the car to prevent any heating related concerns while driving. I don't leave it in the car overnight or while parked in the sun just to be safe.

I would avoid using the power bank mainly for the wastage of space and unwanted wires. But if you ok with that, you can definitely try it out.

As for the car battery being affected - I don't think it makes a huge difference. I have been using the dashcam for many years and still get a good battery life. In fact my last battery (3rd set) lasted for 5 years which is something impressive for a diesel car which is usually less than 3 years.

@beast2503
If you are only planning to use dashcam while the car/engine is running then your worry is unfounded. Dashcam won't have impact on battery as long as engine is running. There are many electrical and electronics connected to battery and dashcam is relatively small load. LI power banks are potential fire hazard in a car so it can be avoided.

Hi krsnasgr. I see you are located in Thrissur. Are you buying it from Popular Hyundai, Kutanellur? When did you book your vehicle?

I had booked a month back. There is no news of it as of now.

Yes I did book there, but I did not receive an allocation from there. Had to switch to another dealer to get an allocation.

That's a huge difference, so I would go with the outside one.

Below are the Pricing for the Extended Warranty quoted for me:
While it's great that Hyundai offers a 7-year warranty, the 1 lakh km limit might seem restrictive, especially when compared to expectations of 1.5 lakh km or more. Perhaps Hyundai could consider extending the mileage limit to cater to customers who drive more extensively.

Re: 2024 Hyundai Creta Facelift Review

I bought a Creta diesel E in february and am keen on a headlight upgrade. i am looking at upgrading the halogens with LEDs from Osram. I unable to find out the exact light bulb specs. I will appreciate it if one of you could help me identify the right size and spec for the upgrade. i do not want to fit an additional relay etc and hence am looking at a bolt on LED solution.

Thanks

Re: 2024 Hyundai Creta Facelift Review

Hello,

My Creta makes an annoyingly loud & jarring sound each time the vehicle is locked/unlocked.
Is there a way to disable it or at least change the sound?

I have tried using 4 different cables - 1 of them was a type-c original Pixel cable. Another was a USB Oneplus cable. My Samsung phone never came with a charging cable - I believe some of the manufacturers nowadays do that. But I believe that the Oneplus / Google Pixel cable should have worked.
If I remember correctly then on one of MotorOctane video, Rachit had mentioned that Apple CarPlay / Android Auto works on USB-A type port only. So one needs to purchase "USB-A to USB-C / Lightning (depends on iPhone model)". I think I came across one of the reddit thread also, where there was a mention of only USB-A type which seems to be working.

For Reference: USB-A is the most commonly known USB type. The one which used to be on old pen drives & still widely being used in flash drives.

Re: 2024 Hyundai Creta Facelift Review

Hello,

Please help me choose between
Verna 1.5 Turbo Petrol DCT SX(O) - ~21 Lakh on road
vs
Creta 1.5 Diesel AT SX(0) - ~24 Lakh on road (Stretched end of the budget)

Preferences:

Must haves:
1. Safety: Verna has a 5-star GNCAP safety rating with an unstable body shell.
Expecting facelifted Creta to score better with the upgrades in facelift body structure.

2. Performance: Both car variants mentioned offer sufficient performance. (I like torquey cars so kept out 1.5 NA Petrol CVT variants.)

3. Boot space: My family loves to carry a lot of luggage on trips. The bigger the better. The Verna trumps here.

4. Resale value: Creta is a popular crossover, and the country moving towards high-ground clearance crossovers, expecting the Creta to fetch more money in resale. However, not sure if that justifies the higher initial price.

Nice to have:
1. Ventilated seats: They are a boon in hot Indian weather.

2. Ground clearance: This might be a must-have for many but coming from a sedan right now, I have made up my mind that a sedan might scrape once in a while and it would not be worrisome.

3. Panoramic sunroof: A small sunroof is unusable most of the time due to pollution, and dust. We are hoping that we can take the wiser off from the panoramic sunroof at least a few times when the weather is good.

Points leading to the confusion:
1. Reliability: This is the most crucial one. With a sea of complaints about Turbo DCT overheating in bumper-to-bumper traffic, I am a bit skeptical about choosing Verna Turbo DCT. Also, I see a few incidences of BS VI diesels choking DPF filters once in a while in heavy traffic. Don't see it as common as heating issues in DCT.
Does spending extra for diesel AT on Creta make sense?
Hyundai also provides a 7-year extended warranty but not sure if they do anything in case of heating issues.

2. Price: Creta is around 3 lakh expensive with only a few additions like a Panoramic sunroof, blind view monitor camera, 360-degree camera, and slightly premium interiors (better-arranged screens), etc. If I choose the Creta, I would be stretching my budget though.

3. Fuel economy: Although claimed fuel efficiency figures are better for Turbo DCT, turbo petrol engines are known to be sensitive to driving styles. With my heavy right foot or fondness for quick acceleration, I fear it to be in single digits in the city and below 15 on the highway.

Another option: Should I consider the Mahindra XUV700 AX5 Diesel AT at the Creta price with 4 airbags, no ADAS, and non-ventilated fabric seats?
