Re: 2024 Kia Sonet Facelift Review

Rumour: Kia Sonet to get new entry-level variants with sunroof

According to a media report, the Kia Sonet will soon get two new entry-level variants. Both variants are likely to be equipped with a sunroof.

The Kia Sonet is expected to be offered in HTE (O) and HTK (O) trims. While both variants will get an electric sunroof as standard, the HTK (O) will be equipped with automatic climate control, a rear defogger and LED-connected taillamps.

The new variants will be available across both petrol and diesel engines. Customers get a choice of either a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol or a 1.5-litre diesel engine. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic, 6-speed iMT and a 7-speed DCT, which is paired with the 1.0L turbo-petrol.

Currently, the Sonet is available in seven variants - HTE, HTK, HTK+, HTX, HTX+, GTX+ and X-Line.

It is possible considering its sister Venue offering Sunroof for its value for money S Optional Turbo variant from last month.

It would be good if they can give the HTX+ option with DCT/TC automatics. Wonder if the pre face lift had such a spec?

Finally, the issue has been fixed. I visited Kia service centre for the 3rd time since I bought my car for the same issue. The issue was with the wiring hence it was working intermittently or not working at all.

Kia's strategy: Increase the price by 3-4% then give HTE(O) at the price of HTK

Re: 2024 Kia Sonet Facelift Review

Been doing short highway runs every weekend and must say if you keep the speeds around 95 with RPM < 2200, it is extremely smooth and gives very good mileage as well.
Handling corners at high speeds are good as well.
On the mysore expressway it gave an amazing 17.3 which included 10kms in city traffic before reaching mysore road as well, very satisfied so far.
Only issue is the suspension though has improved, still feels bumpy on speed breakers so have to slow it to like 10-12 most times.

Those are some really good mileage figures for a 1.0 turbo petrol?

Do you mind sharing the mileage figures (with AC ofcourse) in city runabouts? A 50:50 , city : highway run would also give a fair idea.

Additionally , based on my past experience try to check the average by tank to tank method. Kia / Hyundai cars generally inflate the mileage figures on the MID.

Try playing with tire pressures between 32 - 34 psi with 3 / 4 passengers.

32 psi does wonders in improving the ride quality.

Within City for office drives crossing silk board, I get 9.5 to 12.5 depending on traffic.

All runs are always with AC at 24, last weekend run was AC at 21 due to extreme heat.

I measure tank-to-tank as well, MID shows almost same just .2 or .3 difference.

I set the pressure to 33 immediately after delivery, never over inflate or under inflate, but still even at 33 felt that it was a little stiff, maybe the stock Alnac tyres but they are good, not planning to change till I complete 20k kms for sure.

I got MRF Wanderer with my Sonet and they feel very stiff even at 32-33 psi.

I think Goodyear or Yoko might perform better, but anyway not a huge deterrent, but still we need to live with it.

Re: 2024 Kia Sonet Facelift Review

Prices of Sonet hiked by upto 25k INR.

HTX - DCT & AT have been revised by 5k & 10k INR respectively.

Hope they haven't deleted any features. Their features list on the site is still messed up !

HTX+ and above variants now get One touch up / down for all windows.

Re: 2024 Kia Sonet Facelift Review

Does anyone know if we can change the default drive mode to use "Eco/Sport" instead of having to set it each time?
I would like to say be in Sport mode in highway drives and even after stopping for a break come back in Sport mode, as today it defaults to Normal mode.

Unfortunately, no. One has to change it everytime when you restart the car.

That's bad, wish there was an option, thanks.
