Re: 2023 Tata Safari Facelift Review

All, what is the usual RPM at which your gearbox (AT) up-shifts?

Mine seems to up-shifts around the 2000 RPM mark which leads to being in speeds of approx. 25 KMPH in 1st gear itself. Is this normal?

Re: 2023 Tata Safari Facelift Review

Dear BHPians,

I'm very happy to be part of this elite car lovers, and as you might have already guessed it, this is my first post.

I think this year 2024 will be going to be a memorable one since I got to be part of these elite car enthusiasts and the other one is a step nearer to achieving my dream of owning a Tata Safari.

I'm happy that I've already booked the Tata Safari Adventure + AT variant, and hopefully get them delivered in the coming few weeks.
And thinking of having the Side Steps, 7D mats, and Mud flaps as the only accessories to be installed from the Showroom.
The SA has assured me that he will get the Dual Dashcam (https://www.amazon.in/gp/product/B08...WI0VEHLG&psc=1) installed by themselves, which I intend to give them so I'm just trying to avoid the warranty.
Already confirmed to take the additional 2 years warranty along with 3 years. However I am unsure of whether should I go for the Gold AMC for the initial 2 years.

And have strictly mentioned that a proper PDI in the daylight with the vehicle clearly washed will be done, and if unsatisfied will be rejecting the vehicle.
Cannot take it lightly considering how SLN (related thread: https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/india...-delivery.html) is still suffering with the trauma caused by these guys.
Fortunately, the SA from Select Motors, Hyderabad didn't approach me once I was ready for the booking. Seems he has seen the plight of their service center. Hence I booked it from Venkataramana Motors in Gachibowli, Hyderabad.

Here my Heart has clearly won over the mind, and I hope I will have a pleasureful and peaceful experience (fingers crossed).

Any additional suggestions for the above things?

Many might have dream vehicles and dreams separate, but for me, both have been the same since my childhood. And achieving them will be a blissful delight.

Just like Thanks in advance, please excuse me if I've missed/overridden any of the guidelines on posting.

Regards,
SafariLove

Hello Bhpians
I have been thinking long and hard and frankly can't decide if I should go for the safari adventure plus AT in blue or the XUV 700 ax7 diesel AT in midnight black
I'm going to list down some and our requirements and why I'm leaning towards the safari -
1) ease of driving in Bangalore, squeezing through traffic (360 camera helps a lot)
2) car will be driven for atleast 300 kms a week, so decent fuel efficiency is appreciated
3) comfortable seating is paramount
4) good performance and progressive brakes
5) cabin nvh and steering vibrations ( steering should have some feedback)
6) interior and exterior design
7) feel good features

I actually made an exhaustive list comparing the two and the safari just edges past the xuv
But the issues faced by so many safari owners makes me question myself everytime
Having had a indica , an indigo manza and a nano , we have experienced first hand all the perks that comes with owning a tata and yet here I find myself opting for a tata again, even though my father said no more Tatas after trying 3 of them
It's a very important decision for me and I don't want to mess up , should I risk it all and go for the tata or play it safe and go for the xuv? ( still seems to have suspension/fuel tank/ infotainment glitches)

Also in case anyone was wondering i decided to go for the adventure plus and not the higher variants simply because more the features, more likely things are bound to go wrong
No adas to avoid those bugs and extra electrical connections, surprisingly front seats are softer too due to the lack of ventilation. ( The bugs almost seem bound to happen since tata uses components from so many different companies hence the trouble in integrating it all together)

I believe the gearbox might hold onto a gear for longer depending on the drive mode and throttle response
2k for an upshift seems pretty normal, unsure of the speed though, tall gearing perhaps

Re: 2023 Tata Safari Facelift Review

Last Friday I did the PDI for my vehicle with the help of Zekardo and my friend.

Dealer and Salesperson cooperated well during the PDI. They washed the car before PDI, It was almost 1.30 hrs we took to investigate the car.

Zekardo engineer did an extensive search for any problems in the car. He could find some issues like paint scratches and seat cover stiches and fit and finish and water in tail lamp. and there is small dent on the door which is not visible outside.
Only major issue I'm worried is about the water tail lamp, rest all looks good about the car. Overall car looks Amazing even it has got new software, new TATA logo (forgot to take photo of it). Manufacture date Feb 2024

Dealer has agreed to fix all these before delivery. Im getting the delivery this monday, But Tata should really work on their QC.

Re: 2023 Tata Safari Facelift Review

Hey guys,
I just got my Accomplished + Stardust Ash delivered last night. It was supposed to be delivered in the afternoon but the loan formalities took a lot of time and the dealer did not budge before the disbursement. So picked it up in the night around 8:00
The delivery was very uneventful, nothing too special. Cut a small cake which we forgot at the dealership, compulsory temple visit (considering TATA) and fuel top-up was done. Still have to explore the cars in detail. Will take a few days. Hopefully all is well at the end.

Can anyone tell me what is the latest version of the software update. I have mine running as shown below:

Congratulations on the new car!

Water/fogging in the rear connected tail-lamp is a known issue. Once the water/fogging increases (which usually happens after a pressure wash) a part of the rear connected tail-lamp will stop working. I too faced the same and had highlighted it during my PDI. The dealer had promised to rectify the same before delivery however due to part unavailability it could not be done before delivery. Nonetheless I got it sorted later and the new part seems to be better.

Congratulations! I believe the latest software version is R14.12 which was released on January 14, 2024. I had recently visited the Tata ASS for getting the rear connected tail-lamp replaced and they updated the software to R14.12. Details below:

Hi vinayvec,

Water inside the tail lamp can cause short circuit. Either disconnect that tail lamp or replace it quickly under warranty.

I think TATA is having some quality or manufacturing issues with their Vendors / Suppliers.

Can some one lets us know the manufacturer of this tail lamp ?

I want to understand what happens when it gets short circuited ?

does it only affect the tail lamp (never turns ON again) or whole car wiring will be a spoiled ? or any fire can catch to the car?

im worried now :(

First the tail lamp may get damaged and later if the fuse is rated properly then the fuse gets blown open. If the fuse is not rated properly like higher ampere than the required rating then the wires can get heated quickly and possible smoke and fire.

I've similar experience and frankly, it is quite annoying. Upshift at 2K RPM is too late I feel. But this is my first AT car ever and hence I don't know much about AT driving to say if it's abnormal or not. Would be great to hear from somebody more knowledgeable.

An additional observation, after the engine warms up to the ideal operating temperatures, the upshifts seem to happen at around 1700/1800 RPM (and not 2000 RPM).

Would love to hear from other Safari owners as well.

Have you updated the infotainment software version? I usually don't listen to a lot of FM however for the brief moments I did, it seemed to work fine.

Re: 2023 Tata Safari Facelift Review

Hey Guys
I have spent some time with my New Safari and there are a few quirks which I found them odd. If anyone can address them it would be very helpful.
1.) When I turn on the car the 360 parking shows up and because there is a wall in front there is this constant loud proximity noise which is quite startling.
2.) Getting constant reminders for fasten seatbelt for the 2nd row and 3rd row. Kids sit in the 3rd row and due to their lesser weight it gets triggered constantly when they move a bit. Is there anyway to disable the 2nd & 3rd row reminder.
Also when the reminder shows up on screen you cannot use the touch screen till the notification goes away.
3.) Is there are a way to automatically start the front camera when the car goes close to an object while parking or do I have to manually switch on 360 camera
4.) What is new in the software update, does anyone know the difference.
5.) When does Auto Emergency Brake (AEB) get activated. Does it work when you go close to some car in front or if someone jumps in front of the car. Not quite been able to figure it out.
6.) Also I cannot see any notification if the car is locked or not. If I press the lock button in the touch panel, it unlocks even while driving at a high speed of say 40kmph. In Hyundai's & Kia's you cannot unlock after 20 kmph. It auto locks. So I have to physically check the lock position.
