Best!
Keep in mind the compromised second row on the Safari. The second row of the Harrier feels much better , my dad & I compared it back to back while finalising our decision

Hi, I’m looking to buy a Harrier. How has been your experience with Mileage, extra maintenance towards Diesel, etc? Truly mesmerised by pictures that you shared, only thing holding me back is Diesel, because of the fact that this will be my only car and 80% usage in city conditions, approx 20 kms of daily running.

Re: 2023 Tata Harrier Facelift Review

9 months, 16000 kms and the Harrier runs like a locomotive. Drove Hyderabad - Aurangabad with speeds in the rangebof 90-95 and this is what the beast returned. An overall tank range of 900 kms is simply wow. This is actually what my Breeza used to return.

Overall on this tank with 48 kms in city use

It's a heavy car, however not short in power. This is what I get:

In City: heavy traffic - 11kmpl
In City: medium traffic - 12-13kmpl
In City: Sundays - 14kmpl
Highways: Speeds upto 100 - I just posted above, 18+

This is what my Harrier gave on the highway run with 60% time AC on. This was yday Bangalore Pune trip. The car is a treat to drive on highways.

Re: 2023 Tata Harrier Facelift Review

I have seen 26 kmpl on the cluster for my Safari over a level stretch doing speeds of 90. And that was in City mode. However, I think for these twins there is a good margin of difference between MID and Tank to Tank figures.

I was under assumption that Harrier MID was configured to display 20 kmpl at the max. It is astounding to 30kmpl returned by Fiat Diesel 2.0 engine for 53 kms run.

I remember seeing Ford Figo video couple of years back where the driver was drove the car in 6th gear at 45kmph to achieve 25+ kmpl mileage. Was the car driven only on highways at speeds less than 70 kmph to achieve this feat?

Is your Harrier manual or automatic?

Like most seven seat car users, my usage as well is for that one day every year where I'm forced to have 7 people to go at once.

For the rest of the year, I usually slide the second row seat all the way back, thereby having great space for second row passengers in safari.

Could you please shed some light on which compromise you are talking about?

My dad & I compared the Harrier & Safari back to back while choosing one. The driving seat was set to my driving position and my dad sat in the second row. The Safari was 2 inches short in terms of leg room. We repeated this test 2-3 times just to be sure.

Also the 2nd row of seats in Safari is very upright, which makes it feel like a theatre like seating position , couple that with the shorter seating base as compared to the sedan like reclined rear seats & longer base of the Harrier made us drop the Safari. Also the finishing/quality on the 2nd row of seats felt very shoddy on the Safari. Because the seats are split in terms of movement & don't move together as 1 complete bench.

I do have the option to recline second row seats as well to any suitable position. Agreed that since they are bench seats with 60:40 spilt, finish isn't upto the mark.

But I've never had any complaints do far.

Cheers!

.
Safari needs to have a sliding and reclining second row - this needs adequate clearance from the body of the vehicle, so the seats have to be a bit smaller than you'd expect . The recline bit takes away space for back support for three and sliding bit takes away adequate space for three bottoms, the tuck and tumble for 3rd row takes away thigh support.

As a 5 Seater with big boot, Harrier does the better job and it's nicer to drive too.

Yeah we are a family of 3 & I am not even in Gurgaon , so the car has a maximum of 2 passengers usually. A 7 seater didn't make sense for us
