I request TATA to give an award to the person who created this slide of the presentation. Has any other manufacturer released such a confusing presentation about anything not just pricing?

I guess we can comment on pricing only after we get details from the dealer. Ab Unko Kaun dega

They are trying to manipulate news headlines with this approach. Now the media will report the prices as Rs 8.1 lakhs to Rs 12.99 lakhs instead of Rs 8.1 lakhs to Rs 14 or 15 lakhs. After a few days, they will quietly announce the pricing for the high-end variants.

Petrol AMT starts at Rs 11.7 lakhs ex-showroom and on-road it will be Rs 13.5 to 14 lakhs which is a huge amount for a tiny 4m car with a 3-cylinder engine and AMT transmission.

Very disappointing. I hope there's more to it than just media manipulation. Imagine someone going to the showroom with 13L in mind and being greeted with 15L price tag (ex-showroom)... Don't think this will end well for Tata.

I hope more journalists question and pin them for these dirty tactics.

Not just TATA, that's how the market is going forward. Less than half a decade back OTR ~8-10L was premium hatchback range, 9-12L subcompact crossover range, 11-15L was sedan range(City/Verna) & 14-18L was CSUV range. Now everything has shifted 1 segment above. Premium hatchbacks are occupying 11-13L range, subcompact crossovers touch 16-17L OTR(Sonet touches 18.5L OTR in bangalore for top end ) & CSUVs are going 20-25L(Am sure new Creta will breach this).

Call it inflation or whatever, there's no denying in next 3-4 years these subcompact crossovers will be the only ones available under 20L.

17 lakhs for a 3-pot Tata isn't justifiable at least in my books

At 1 lakh more(without accounting for any discounts) you can get the mid variants of the VAG twins and 2 lakhs more for the second top variants of the Maruti-Toyota cousins or Honda Elevate in the automatic guise which I feel more VFM than the new Tata Nexon top-end DCA variant

Overall an appealing product with unappealing pricing

Top end petrol at 14.7 lac exshowroom ! Roughly 17-17.5 Lac On road.

Now this is not too far away from the Elevate ZX CVT, which is a segment higher, a much much better engine (Infact not even a comparison) and a smoother gearbox.

Thanks TATA, time to say Bye Bye to Nexon

Exactly.

Suddenly Honda's Elevate is now looking a much sweeter deal with its smooth iVTEC engine, Honda's reliability and a smooth CVT.

However, hats off and kudos to TML for giving all the safety features and six air bags starting from the base variant onwards.

Regarding pricing:

Re: 2023 Tata Nexon Facelift Review

This is really high pricing Tata. Sorry to say but Tata being very greedy here. Last 1-2 years Nexon was selling like hot cakes, I doubt if they can sell that much now with this kind of pricing. I know car is new and has some good features, but this is really high price for a C-SUV. Diesel start range itself is very costly IMHO.

Just 2 months back I got Ignis Zeta Automatic (AMT) for around 8 lacs. One can actually buy 1 manual and 1 automatic Ignis in the price of 1 Nexon Automatic. I know its a wrong comparison, still can't avoid doing so. After all its about our hard earned money. All the best Tata.

Re: 2023 Tata Nexon Facelift Review

I had been the KHT Tata Showroom today afternoon ~2pm. Showroom was very very bland. Felt very lackluster. Its partly why Harrier & Safari don't do good numbers. The Nexon was not even highlighted as a launch car in the showroom. It was simply parked in the far end of the showroom.

The sales staff was sitting idle while only a few people saw the Nexon. Despite there being 10+ staff, they were not at all interested in meeting customers. They were literally wailing away their time & trying their best to avoid customers who went up to them. Really made me wonder whether they were Tier III college students employed for free. Their uniforms too were like what blue collared staff would be mandated to wear.

I asked for a test drive at the reception and it took 20+ minutes for a proper response after I went and insisted 2 times. After which she was literally coaxing some one among all those idle sales people to give TD. No one wanted to go and they were all literally openly loudly telling her that they're not willing to do test drives at all. She pleaded to one salesgirl who agreed, but later she said she was hungry for lunch. Then the receptionist asked me to find someone myself. This was pathetic, still found one salesguy.

Then after 10 minutes he took down the DL details and a sign on the undertaking that if there was any damage to the vehicle during TD, customer would be held responsible. I signed but on clarifying whether the car is insured or not, sales guy says that despite being insured, customer will be held liable for all costs. Sure. Anyway, he asked me to wait for the TD car to come, and simply went away to sit idle with his colleagues. No brochure, no price list, spoke nothing. Couldn't believe this was for a car that had launched at 12 noon, they didn't have anything at 2:30pm?

The purple TD car came after 10 mins and some random person was sent for TD! The sales guy didn't care, just asked us to wait and walked away. Then the TD car didn't come back even after 45 minutes. I really do suspect he asked the driver not to return.

Tata is not handing out cars for free. Customers are not jobless to plead like this for test drives. Today I vouched never to step into a Tata dealership ever again.

Anyone running even a small business would know that they must highlight a new product during launch & employ sensible sales staff that reciprocates to customers with basic courtesy & professionalism.

Petrol Nexon was being considered to replace my aged Linea, to be used mostly within the city as a family beater car.

P.S. : Thank God I had kept the ScorpioN Z4 AT launch (intro pricing) booking intact and not mistakenly cancel it thinking I'll go for Safari with early delivery. Today made me realise that I must stick to the booking even if it takes another 6 months.

Re: 2023 Tata Nexon Facelift Review

As an owner, here's what I think about the pricing.

During my purchase in Oct 21 the Diesel XZA + costed around 12 lakhs ex showroom. Here the Creative AMT variant is priced 13 lakhs ex showroom.

Now there was a significant price bump in 2022, for eg I got the XMS D variant for 9.9 lakhs ex showroom in 21 , last I checked the same variant was costing 10.79 lakhs ex showroom. The present Pure manual D is priced @ 10.99 lakhs.

So theres a price bump of 20k and you lose the sunroof, auto headlamps and wipers.

What you gain?

- 17 cm Harman touch screen
- 4 additional airbags
- ESP
- Sharkfin antenna
- Android auto Apple carplay
- Rear AC vents
- Touch based HVAC controls
- 10.16 cm digital instrument based cluster
- Voice commands for phone and media

Now this is not counting the fresh design.

So with the additional features I feel the pricing is at par with the outgoing model.

Last I checked the top variant costed ~ 17 lakhs on road in Mumbai. So I feel the pricing is more or less in sync with the outgoing variant or even better like in case of the Pure variant , so sales should be merry as usual

Were you actually in the Pune showroom? Your experience is almost exactly the same as mine, except that I didn’t even get to see the TD car (Harrier) as it had gone for repairs a week before I called, made an appointment and showed up at the showroom.
Tata needs to fire their dealers ASAP.

Re: 2023 Tata Nexon Facelift Review

I talked to one of the SA in Bangalore and he mentioned that for the top-end Fearless + S DCA onroad price would be 18.46L. It's too high for a sub compact SUV.
Stretch 1-1.5 L more one would go for tension-free Honda's CVT Elevate.

I was looking to upgrade my 10-year-old i20 and totally confused about what to pick now. I don't see any value in spending 18.5 for sub compact SUV

Re: 2023 Tata Nexon Facelift Review

Tata could have priced it bit lower for introductory pricing, but I don't find this to be overpriced.

The outgoing top model was priced at 13.20 lakhs ex-showroom. (Red dark Petrol AMT)

Now what we are getting extra with the facelift,

• DCA v/s AMT
• 6 airbags v/s 2 airbags
• 360 camera with turn assist
• Wireless Android Auto & Apple Carplay
• Redesigned Front and Rear
• Led lights & connected rear light & sequential turn indicator
• Much better Infotainment screen & Instrument cluster (with added functions like Map in instrument cluster)
• JBL sub woofer
• Front passenger seat height adjustment
• Touch based controls
• New Steering wheel

What do you think should be the price increase for these added features? I think 1.5 lakhs is fair.

If people found pre-facelift model to be value for money (as indicated by sales figures), then facelifted Nexon should do even better IMO.
