Re: 2023 Tata Nexon Facelift Review

It's high time that Tata needs to improve their overall QC process and after sales service. People these days are blinded by the safety and all the marketing PR that is being done around it. I totally buy that but I also expect a peaceful ownership. In 2021, I did a test drive of Tata Nexon petrol and was almost about to book but I noticed few issues in the test drive vehicle itself. The car was had an odometer reading of 9k+ and issues I identified were:

1. Sunroof got stuck in between and wasn't closing (salesmen wasn't sure and mentioned it could be dust due to which sensors might not be working)
2. There was a beep that came from the car randomly (not of seatbelt warning, vehicle crossing 80kmph speed limit etc.)
3. The handle of rear door was so filmsy that it almost came out as my wife sat inside and shut the door.

If I'm investing my hard earned money in a car, I would expect it to be niggle free and at least I would expect this from a test drive car as that creates an impression.

That was enough for me to move away Tata.

Completed first 500 km drive in my new facelift nexon and I am very happy and relieved that the first 500kms have been very good if not great. Relieved because their was a lot of commotion on Tata's reliability, after sales experience, bas ownership reviews etc. etc. But I have not experienced any untoward experience so far.
Okay first things first let me come to the likes and dislikes points.

front profile of the car futuristic design
This is my first Tata car upgraded from Maruti' s ever reliable wagon R, hence was a bit skeptical on whether the decision to ditch maruti Suzuki on grounds of build quality and safety backfires. Though Nexon's sales numbers have been a great comforter assuring that the product itself is good and is wanted by a lot of customers.
Drive and ride quality-.
Okay I want to address the elephant in room since I am owning an AMT I really want to highlight the shortcomings of it. A typical AMT ofcourse we all know isn't that smooth as may be a DCT or Torque converter. Well it is cheap but then the experience of driving is compromised the pleasure that you get while driving a DCT or TC is not their in AMT. Also you don't get that adrenaline rush while driving a manual gearbox which I was so accustomed to. The gear changes are quite evident in the economy drive mode, you literally feel the jerks at lower gears but settles down at higher gears, you can also feel gear shifts while climbing an incline in traffic. The gear shifts are not so evident in city and sports mode. I am a bit disappointed in a sense that I knew AMT won't be as smooth but I was just hoping that would have done a better job. But all is not doom and gloom, it is not a deal breaker or a disaster by any means and one just needs to adapt to an AMT and it does a decent job. The engine is also preety decent the noise levels are bit high at lower rpms, Tata really needs to catch up with Hyundai and maruti with respect to engine refinement and smoothness. Though it has made great strides they have some some distance to catch up with the above two. The 1.2 l revotron engine is quite good and overall does a decent job.
Ride quality- The ride quality is one of the best that I have experienced recently, the suspension is tuned perfectly not too stiff neither too soft it is just perfect and I believe it is the highlight of the new Nexon. I do not the slightest of bumps and potholes filtering through to the cabin. I have driven sonet and venue and really felt the shocks to my spine. The Nexon glides through the potholes and bad roads The insulation to filter out outside noise and engine noise is done preety well.

mileage in the MID indicating a mileage of just above 9kmpl
Mileage-
Yes the MILEAGE the all important 'kitna deti hai?' question it arouses more anxiety and suspense that an India Pakistan cricket match. Well I have not measured the mileage by tank full up method have been relying on the MID figures of the avg. fuel consumption figures and the figures are not so encouraging I have driven so far in city limits and mostly in a lot of pune traffic and the best mileage figure I have seen is 10 kmpl. I don't know if these are the correct figures and will these figures are here to stay in while driving in city or will they improve after first servicing their are lot uncertainties and question marks at the moment and I hope get the answer of the same after 1st servicing. If any bhpians have their experiences regarding the mileage of the car please let me know in the comments.

10.25 inches of infotainment screen touch responsive
Features -

The car comes with a lot of bells and whistles and very happy to inform that most of them offer great help to drivers. The best features are ofcourse the blind spot monitoring reverse and front cameras. They are so useful and actually help the driver to park the car ina tight spot and maneuver through traffic easily. The camera clarity is just amazing, best in segment. TPMS, rain sensing wipers, auto head lamps are very useful. The auto climate control is very powerful and cools the cabin instantaneously while the real test will be in summers. The infotainment system is so damn good tata has done a fantastic job of it the 10 inch screen itself is very responsive has loads of info. The navigation works well. The voice command also works fine, wireless Android auto is a great addition to have. The Harman 4 speakers and 2 Twitters are top notch
The seats are comfortable, the boot space is very practical.
Final verdict -
The first 500kms have been great, the Nexon itself has been everything I expected it to be. Some misses but a lot of hits I am so much in love of my car my ownership experience has been great and overall If at all I have to rate my experience I would give it a solid 8/10 The car really shines through in safety, ride quality, features practicality what it can improve on is the AMT gearbox for sure, minor glitches in the infotainment system like during phone calls for instance, engine refinement.

Re: 2023 Tata Nexon Facelift Review

Hi Team,

I might soon become an owner of a TATA vehicle shortly - while the excitement of a new car is there, I am equally nervous about the overall negative feedback on TATA's after sales service. Even on Twitter and Reddit, the general consensus is not positive on TATA. For example, I tried searching for TATA Nexon on twitter and the search results did not paint a positive picture at all.

I would like to know from people here who have personally experienced TATA's after sales service in Mumbai - is it really that bad? Any recommendations for a good dealer in Mumbai?

Re: 2023 Tata Nexon Facelift Review

We visited Adishakti Tata in Bengaluru to check Nexon.
Following is what we came across,
1) 2 sales representatives turned up to ask if anyone is attending, when I said no, they both left, and no one approached after that.
2) When we were checking demo car ourselves along with few other visitors, they came to vacuum the car and asked us to wait.
3) Meantime we went to check new Harrier and they had its battery disconnected and as expected none of the electricals and electronics work and this includes boot door, driver seats and worse is it had both driver and front passenger seats randomly set fully reclined.

Coming to the price of new Nexon.
Given that, it is sub four meters with sub 1.2 Liters petrol and sub 1.5 Liters diesel engines, its taxed 28% GST and 1% cess.
Considering this,
Tata Nexon Fearless Plus S Purple 1.5 Revotorq Diesel 6AMT Dual costs Rs. 15,49,990 ex-Showroom (Bengaluru). This means effective price is Rs 12,00,000 approx. excluding tax.
Just compare it with Mahindra XUV700 AX 7 Luxury Pack Diesel AT AWD 7 STR which costs Rs. 26,57,200 Ex-Showroom and is taxed at 28% GST and 22% Cess and this results in in effective price of Rs 17,50,000 approx. excluding all the taxes.
Thats just 5.5 lakhs difference between the respective top end diesel variants.
So, it is up to us to decide if it’s really overpriced or not.

Re: 2023 Tata Nexon Facelift Review

It seems like just because the sales are at all time high's, they can get away with anything. I felt the same thing about their other showrooms in Bangalore also. That lack of interest by the representatives is a huge dampener in the car buying experience. Its like a TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT. IF NOT YOU SOMEONE ELSE IS READY TO BUY THE CAR. No commitment at all.

Re: 2023 Tata Nexon Facelift Review

Got a call from Dealer's service centre today that they would need to change driver-side seat belt in my car when it comes for its first free service later this month. Guessing there is some defect and they are quietly changing this.

Any one else got this call?

Re: 2023 Tata Nexon Facelift Review

I had booked Fearless+ DCA variant Flame Red at Key Motors on Mysore Road on Sep 19th but since then there has been no updates ever. Initially we were told it would be delivered in 6-8 weeks but then received an email at the end of October saying there is further delay and additional 1 month would be needed. I was told by the supervisor there has been some vendor change for DCA gearbox because of which there is a delay. Still haven’t heard any updates regarding allocation.

Hello,

I got my 1st service done today & they have changed driver side seat belt. When I asked about the details, they told that Tata Motors received some complaints that belt is not going back properly when released which they fixed & hence, they are changing for all cars in 1st service.

Re: 2023 Tata Nexon Facelift Review

Intro + Questions for current owners:

Hi all,

I booked a Creative Plus DCA model with one of the dealers in Bangalore last week of November, going through the lease route. Two weeks after the booking, I was informed they are cancelling my booking as they refuse to work with the leasing agency. They are clearly least interested in selling the car if it takes any effort from their end. Working with the leasing company to book with a different dealer.

Question:
Can any of the existing owners procure a digital copy of the owners or service manual and share it here? Just wanted to understand the transmission oil change interval, among other things. I can't seem to find it anywhere online.

Nevermind, found it by googling a little bit more. All vehicles manuals are downloadable here

Re: 2023 Tata Nexon Facelift Review

Drove the all new Nexon Petrol MT for 1300 kms to Manali, Sissu, Keylong and back. Some observations:

  • Fearless is loaded with features. The full digital MID looks good. I had trip info which displayed total trip KMs and FE+ speed/RPM + DTE view throughout the trip.
  • Apple carplay worked flawlessly! Everytime the low fuel warning came up, carplay sent a notification of phone to look for nearest petrol pumps. I never saw this on my Slavia while using carplay.
  • The 3-cyl is vocal at most times except when you are cruising between 2-2.2K rpm. 100 kmph comes up a little over 2k in 6th gear.
  • Comfortable mile muncher. Never felt tired driving it. We drove thru the night from Ghaziabad to Manali. Our drive time to Manali was 8.5 hrs.
  • The best and most impressive highlight was the ride quality. The way it glides over bad roads is just amazing! The damping on the car is impressive again, the sounds transferred into the cabin is very low.
  • Niggles: Not too many to report but the indicators would function weirdly, if I am indicating right and turn left - entering round about, the indicators would turn off. The misaligned MID, infotainment system is an eyesore! The car also had misaligned headlights, the right beams pointed high up and left were too low.
  • Overall FE was 17 kmpl. Best was seen on return between Chandigarh and Delhi where we saw 21 kmpl.

Had a great trip overall. Sharing some pictures:

Re: 2023 Tata Nexon Facelift Review

Another day, another dissatisfied customer with poor dealer experience.

https://www.ndtv.com/offbeat/bengalu..._lateststories

Quote:
A man recently expressed his dissatisfaction after receiving a purportedly 'defective' brand-new Tata Nexon from a seller in Bengaluru. Sharath Kumar shared a video on Instagram depicting how he, accompanied by family and friends, eagerly awaited the delivery of the Tata Nexon he had purchased for ₹ 18.2 lakhs, only to be disappointed by the discovery of a flawed car.
Quote:
Expressing his disappointment, Mr Kumar wrote, "Dreams of my family Shattered when I went to take delivery of NEXON FACELIFT Automatic Petrol Fearless Plus worth 18.2 Lakhs from probably the Worst Dealer of TATA MOTORS i.e PRERANA MOTORS, Yelahanka as they tried to sell me a Defective NEXON Facelift vehicle without doing PDI or any QC they registered vehicle in my name."

Re: 2023 Tata Nexon Facelift Review

I was planning to book new Nexon, but dealer said that extended warranty and gold AMC is not available for new Nexon!. The extended warranty may be available from Jan 2024 and no information about gold AMC.
Since I faced multiple issues in Tata Tiago immediately after standard warranty I wanted to opt those.

Anybody has any info about extended warranty or AMC of new Nexon ?

Hello,

Both extended warranty & Gold AMC are available for new Nexon. I myself have got my warranty extended for New Nexon at the time of purchase only. Kindly check with some other dealer.
