Completed first 500 km drive in my new facelift nexon and I am very happy and relieved that the first 500kms have been very good if not great. Relieved because their was a lot of commotion on Tata's reliability, after sales experience, bas ownership reviews etc. etc. But I have not experienced any untoward experience so far.
Okay first things first let me come to the likes and dislikes points.

front profile of the car futuristic design

This is my first Tata car upgraded from Maruti' s ever reliable wagon R, hence was a bit skeptical on whether the decision to ditch maruti Suzuki on grounds of build quality and safety backfires. Though Nexon's sales numbers have been a great comforter assuring that the product itself is good and is wanted by a lot of customers.
Drive and ride quality-.
Okay I want to address the elephant in room since I am owning an AMT I really want to highlight the shortcomings of it. A typical AMT ofcourse we all know isn't that smooth as may be a DCT or Torque converter. Well it is cheap but then the experience of driving is compromised the pleasure that you get while driving a DCT or TC is not their in AMT. Also you don't get that adrenaline rush while driving a manual gearbox which I was so accustomed to. The gear changes are quite evident in the economy drive mode, you literally feel the jerks at lower gears but settles down at higher gears, you can also feel gear shifts while climbing an incline in traffic. The gear shifts are not so evident in city and sports mode. I am a bit disappointed in a sense that I knew AMT won't be as smooth but I was just hoping that would have done a better job. But all is not doom and gloom, it is not a deal breaker or a disaster by any means and one just needs to adapt to an AMT and it does a decent job. The engine is also preety decent the noise levels are bit high at lower rpms, Tata really needs to catch up with Hyundai and maruti with respect to engine refinement and smoothness. Though it has made great strides they have some some distance to catch up with the above two. The 1.2 l revotron engine is quite good and overall does a decent job.
Ride quality- The ride quality is one of the best that I have experienced recently, the suspension is tuned perfectly not too stiff neither too soft it is just perfect and I believe it is the highlight of the new Nexon. I do not the slightest of bumps and potholes filtering through to the cabin. I have driven sonet and venue and really felt the shocks to my spine. The Nexon glides through the potholes and bad roads The insulation to filter out outside noise and engine noise is done preety well.

mileage in the MID indicating a mileage of just above 9kmpl

Mileage-
Yes the MILEAGE the all important 'kitna deti hai?' question it arouses more anxiety and suspense that an India Pakistan cricket match. Well I have not measured the mileage by tank full up method have been relying on the MID figures of the avg. fuel consumption figures and the figures are not so encouraging I have driven so far in city limits and mostly in a lot of pune traffic and the best mileage figure I have seen is 10 kmpl. I don't know if these are the correct figures and will these figures are here to stay in while driving in city or will they improve after first servicing their are lot uncertainties and question marks at the moment and I hope get the answer of the same after 1st servicing. If any bhpians have their experiences regarding the mileage of the car please let me know in the comments.

10.25 inches of infotainment screen touch responsive

Features -
The car comes with a lot of bells and whistles and very happy to inform that most of them offer great help to drivers. The best features are ofcourse the blind spot monitoring reverse and front cameras. They are so useful and actually help the driver to park the car ina tight spot and maneuver through traffic easily. The camera clarity is just amazing, best in segment. TPMS, rain sensing wipers, auto head lamps are very useful. The auto climate control is very powerful and cools the cabin instantaneously while the real test will be in summers. The infotainment system is so damn good tata has done a fantastic job of it the 10 inch screen itself is very responsive has loads of info. The navigation works well. The voice command also works fine, wireless Android auto is a great addition to have. The Harman 4 speakers and 2 Twitters are top notch
The seats are comfortable, the boot space is very practical.
Final verdict -
The first 500kms have been great, the Nexon itself has been everything I expected it to be. Some misses but a lot of hits I am so much in love of my car my ownership experience has been great and overall If at all I have to rate my experience I would give it a solid 8/10 The car really shines through in safety, ride quality, features practicality what it can improve on is the AMT gearbox for sure, minor glitches in the infotainment system like during phone calls for instance, engine refinement.
