Re: Honda Elevate Review

Hello All, Our ZX CVT Grey Meteoroid is due to be delivered by end of the month. Need some advice on accessories. Currently planning on getting the following from the dealer:
  • Door visor with Chrome
  • Mud Guard
  • Cargo Tray

Confused about the below:
  • Side step illumination - Apart from aesthetic appeal, is it worth Rs.8K?
  • 7D floor mat - planning to get the Amazon one that was posted here a few times already. How does it compare with the bucket mats that you get from the dealer or outside? Any issues in using 7D mats in terms of cleaning (never used one, hence the question).

Thanks

Re: Honda Elevate Review

Elevate ZX is top variant. Doesn’t it already have a cargo tray? Or is there a different kind of cargo tray for use in cabin and not the boot?

I dont think ZX comes with cargo tray in the boot. It is available only as an accessory as far as I understand. And yes, I am referring to the one used in the boot.

I would suggest not to go with the door visor from Honda. Their height is larger than the ones you get outside and make the window glass visibility area smaller. I made the same mistake, later removed and thrown them. I feel Elevate looks better without the sun visors. Mud guard and cargo tray are must.

Side step illumination can be skipped. I have 7D mats and happy with them.

Re: Honda Elevate Review

Hi All,

The Elevate SV model has all the required feature which I am looking for, only missing thing is infotainment which can be installed from the dealership itself without losing warranty. And all other cosmetic things can be installed as an accessory like wheel caps, roof rails etc. As my budget is around 13.5Lakh on road, is Honda Elevate SV a good choice or should I go for the sub-4 SUVs like Nexon, Sonet, Venue or XUV300 (I am not impressed with the 3 cylinder turbo petrol engine of Tata).

Thanks in Advance.

I Noticed in my Honda Jazz its the same nozzle stream like the Elevate, there are actually two streams on the Jazz for each nozzle, seems they have just used that for the elevate as well

Did you then opt for an after market door visor? Or just left it as is?
Thanks for your feedback. Now that you mentioned this, I took another look at some of the pictures shared by the SA, and you are right, they do eat into the window space.

Re: Honda Elevate Review

I have acquired a choice number for Elevate without any support from any brokers/ agents. Thought of sharing it with the community so that it may be helpful for someone looking for it.

Even though the process was done through the centralized vahan portal, the steps might differ from state to state but the basic process remains the same. My experience is based on the procedure followed in Kerala.

Step 1: Check Number Availability
Before you begin, check if your desired number is available for booking. Visit the Show open series link on the Parivahan site.
Note that all numbers from 1 - 9999 won't be available for booking. RTOs open only few sets at a time

Step 2: Account Registration on Vahan Fancy Number Portal
Go to the Vahan Fancy Number portal and register your account. The registration process is straightforward.

Step 3: Number Selection and Base Price
After logging in, proceed to the number selection section. Choose your RTO to view unsold numbers from older series and available numbers from the running series. Different series have different base prices, which may vary by state.

Step 4: Application and Payment
Once you have logged in, head towards the number selection section. Select your RTO and it will list the unsold numbers from older series and available numbers from running series. Select a number and proceed to register. You will be asked for the application number. That is the application number of the temporary registration against which you have paid tax. You can get this number from the sms received from Vahan while tax was paid, or get in touch with the showroom dealer who has done it for you. Once that is filled, your information will auto populate. Proceed and pay the base price for the preferred number. Mine was a normal number so I just had to pay 3000. Once the payment is done, you have done your application for the number.

Step 5: Auction Process
The auction period is one week. Submit your application from Monday 11 AM to Saturday 4 PM. If multiple applications exist for the same number, an auction is conducted from Saturday 4 PM to Monday 10.30 PM. You can place your bids online by visiting your account and placing bids in multiples of 1000. This amount needs to be paid only if you win your bid.

Step 6: Confirmation and RTO Processing
Upon winning the bid, you'll receive SMS and email confirmation. The RTO will process your number for permanent registration if the complete bidding amount is paid. This typically takes around 2 days.

Step 7: Post-Bid Options
If the bid is lost, you can reapply for a new choice number by paying the base price again. The base price for the lost bid will be refunded. Alternatively, if you opt for any random number, request it directly from the RTO.

Step 8: RTO Approval and Number Plate Order
Once the RTO completes the process, you'll receive an SMS confirming approval. Contact your dealer to order the number plate, usually done within 2 days, and have it riveted to your vehicle.

Just left it. I like the looks more without the door visors.

Mud Guard and Cargo Tray are must haves IMO. Cargo tray is very reasonably priced compared to the high quality finish and fit. Had upgraded from a small car where our Milton would stand firmly - but the huge cargo space in Elevate allowed it to roll and spill water - but the tray prevented a good amount seeping down. Moreover, the boot lid is fixed on the inner (rear seat) end - so any damage will require complete change and I doubt if ASC will fix it in original form.

Side Step Illumination: We purchased without looking at it and it's neither that bright nor big. I wouldn't even call it subtle as Honda as it didn't make any difference even aesthetically. Buy only after you look it in dark. Even if you do, ensure they fix the wiring in the provisioned notches under the rubber lining. Despite me instructing the accessories guy, they just let it jump over anywhere

The official 3D mats are really good too - hold firmly, look and feel premium, catch dirt on boots (good for office), get dusted easily, and not intrusive any way. I have never used 7D though.

My first post on the platform - pardon if I seem boasting without experience or any other mistakes.

If you haven't booked your Elevate, here's some thoughts:

I booked mine from Deccan Honda, Magarpatta (Elevate ZX CVT, Golden Brown). Right from buying to first service, experience has been sub-par to pathetic. No self insurance despite pressing hard, only waiver of the extra accessories, PDI allowed at yard after a lot of assurances. Will share the story around this someday. Leave aside everything else, their service center is in Dhankawdi - not an easy access.

I've heard good about Garve Honda - so do consider them. However even their service center is in Khadki if that impacts you.

Adding to what Anand87 said -
FE: Expect 9.5 - 12.5 in city traffic. 9.5 if your commute is from Magarpatta to Kharadi - where only an electric/hybrid can save your pocket.
It will not be single digit if you are a sedate driver (and you'd love it with any Honda). The test drive car I had seen that time had 9.5 and got me worried.. but I've mostly gotten around 12 - as I don't commute to office daily.
On highways (Expressway), surprisingly, I've clocked over 19kmpl from Pune to Mumbai.. touching 21 at the highest. Wifey's a sedate driver and I've learnt that too - it's a different pleasure altogether!

We've clocked over 2.5k kms but haven't seen ADAS/CMBS intruding.. been activated a handful times but never halted the car or even slowed it down considerably - it was just some breaking felt (if it were manual transmission, case may have been different). And 80% of the times it was right in activating - the rest 20% we are unsure if some object got our way which we couldn't see or calculate. I've never turned it off and don't plan to. Compared to the ADAS response during Seltos test drive, Honda Sensing seemed very natural. May be it's camera only and no radio - but actually works well. Safety wise though radios will be much better IMO - but if they tune it so well that people don't disable it in first place. All said, Honda should allow to remember the CMBS off setting - unless they prove with a solid reason to not offer so (the manual which doesn't offer any explanation of why it can't be disabled).
The lane departure is the only ADAS feature which feels a bit intrusive initially (haptic feedback) - but we don't drive highways regularly and I'd still keep it on to improve my lane discipline. If you turn indicators on while switching lanes, it wouldn't warn you.

ACC on highways is unmissable, CMBS still provides some assurance against distractions, leather interiors - never been a fan but love them now.. all make ZX worthwhile. Add CVT and the driving pleasure zooms high. I had booked an Exter SXO AMT for wifey and Elevate ZX CVT was a betraying switch - it was love at first drive.

Tip: Read the user manual when you take delivery - it'll open up a lot of thoughts. I had read my Alto manual back then and learnt few lessons for life - this one too - not just for safety but also for the features.

Re: Honda Elevate Review

Question for Elevate owners:
1. Regarding the Honda Connect app: does the GPS location keep updating even when the vehicle is off, for example, when transporting the car? Or does it show the last known GPS location when the car was last turned on?
2. Regarding the infotainment system in ZX: does it support over-the-air updates? I did not find anything about this in the brochure. Other brands generally tend to advertise this.

Re: Honda Elevate Review

Hi All,
This is my first post in this loved forum.
Finally after much deliberation I had purchased Honda Elevate VX MT at Capital Honda Chennai, thanks to the detailed review posts which helped me decide on the options that was available.

Here is my point of view after driving for around 800 kms.

Spacious cabin, practicality has been the plus, no Electrically adjustable seats or Panaromic Sunroof, 360 deg cam but the features which have been given are very much impressive and it is good practically.

Engine is very smooth, though Noise insulation could have been better. At times we can hear the engine revv and outside noise very evidently. But it was a pleasure driving. NOTE: I am not an enthusiastic driver, more of city drive and linear acceleration is quite OK for me.

Drive Comfort - Excellent - the suspension is neither too soft nor very hard, I felt it is just right and with the potholed roads in my neighborhood not much of impact is felt while driving. It easily takes you over small and shallow pot holes. The highlight is the view from cabin, I can easily see the edges and push in small gaps without issues. Driver seat and rear seats are very good lot of leg room and head room. Clutch is a little deep is what i feel. Gear shift are very very smooth the notches are very carefully designed and can easily shift upwards/downwards.
The middle seat in the rear has a little bump so it makes it difficult for 3 adults to be seated at the rear. 2 Adults and 1 child can sit little comfortable on short trips. Honda could have moved the rear vent a little to the front which would have given the middle passenger a little more space. This is a little annoying at times when you have to move your leg.

Reverse and Lane watch camera - a good value for money. I am more of a mirror watching driver (old school) so getting used to the cam. But the cam quality is OK.

Mileage - a little disappointed, I get around 10 in the city , I havent taken the car on long trips. Though I am a sedate driver, I dont understand why is the mileage this low. I checked with the Service advisor and they say that the average is 12 KMPL and after test drive the technician told that the car is giving 14KMPL , I am a little confused. May be some one can throw some light on what I might be doing wrong.

Overall - Quite happy with the car, a very good buy for the price they offer, Plus HONDA after sales support. As i mentioned earlier I like the practicality which was considered by Honda in terms of providing the features.

Re: Honda Elevate Review

IMHO, Honda Elevate doesn't justify the current gen tag. It is more like a previous generation model and something already in need of a facelift.

They are still offering bulbs for indicator light, no seat ventilation, half hearted ADAS, premium on different colours (not dual tone), poor fuel economy Etc.

Yes, the sales are 20k+ per month, but I wouldn't be surprised if they see a cliff graph or a plateau very soon.

Competition from Hyundai and Kia is just too strong, hopefully they give a rather early facelift with added freatures.

O hey, that's nice. I am from Dharamshala. Nice to see you visit the place plus mentioning it here. I haven't seen enough people from Himachal, on team BHP yet. Or maybe I just didn't land on same threads as them. Anyways.
