I would further update after the 2024 vehicle PDI.

Thanks once again
You did the right thing. I have had experience on the same lines while waiting for my Creta in 2021. I booked blue color and was waiting for delivery (there was 8 months waiting). After 3 months into waiting, dealer informed that Hyundai has discontinued blue color and I should chose another color. Half heartedly I communicated new color choice. After 5 months into waiting, I grew little impatient and contacted another dealer. He immediately got back to me about availability of blue color in stock. But I was supposed to make full payment so that he can block the car for me. Since I already knew about blue color situation, I asked him for VIN number. Initially he was hesitant and kept telling me it is latest stock. I had to put my foot down and he sheepishly came back saying it was 3 months old stock but there is no issue. Now another thing I knew is that Hyundai has introduced some new features like remote engine start etc and increased the price. So I realised that dealer was charging new price for an old stock with less features (obviously not disclosing to the customer). I scolded the SA for trying to pull a fast one and thanked my stars. Learnt the lesson to be fully vigilant and not giving in to pressure tactics from dealer. Finally, got delivery from original dealer after 7 months of waiting but was worth the wait.

A factory finished matte paint (like Kia's X-Line) and a matte PPF has very different maintenance routines. Maintaining a matte paint is notoriously difficult. Maintaining a matte PPF is much simpler. I was given these do's and dont's for PPF maintenance: never wipe dirt with a dry towel, can use any car wash shampoo and then wipe with a clean wet microfiber cloth, can use pressure wash but avoid areas where the PPF is tucked in, can use jopasu duster for a quick dusting. Basically, don't apply pressure when the PPF surface is dry; this is to avoid friction which might damage the self-healing layer of the PPF.

Re: Honda Elevate Review

I have collated a few points comparing Elevate CVT ZX (Rs 20.3 OTR) versus Seltos HTX IVT (Rs 21.4 OTR).

Honda positives:
Lane assist
ADAS
Plusher ride
Better handling
Reliability

Seltos Positives:
Wider back seat(?!)
Rear middle headrest & 3 point seat belts
Advanced dashboard

This would help potential buyers for this use case. Can you add further please.

Note-Price is OTR at Delhi.

I was hoping if I could know which type it is. A KB dealer was offering a T20 type wedge led pair for 2400/- bucks but I thought it was too expensive & also both of us were not entirely sure if it would fit. So any suggestions for LED bulbs are welcome...
Please keep us posted on indicator bulb type. For Honda City, it was T15 LED.

Re: Honda Elevate Review

While the Elevate is a sweet compact SUV in its segment, the arrival of updated Creta, specially the S(O) IVT variant which is priced around 40k less than the top of the line Elevate ZX CVT, the competition has really got tough for the Honda.

I checked out both the cars extensively and I found the Creta with its panoromic sunroof and slightly wider rear bench and lighter colours feeling more spacious and good place to be in compared to the Elevate.

What also helps Creta to drift in its favour is the novelty factor and the fact that the Hyundai's 1.5 NA CVT is actually quicker to 100kmph and drives rather well even when compared with the legendry VTEC on the Elevate.

Where Creta loses (talking about the S(O) variant here) is the leatherite seat covers and ADAS.

But if someone is not too keen on ADAS or drives mostly in city , which I expect most of the CVT owners to be driving in, I think the Creta S(O) IVT has an edge over the Elevate specially considering the price undercut.

This is not an official accessory. It's an unofficial accessory that is being fitted by a lot of dealers. I got it fitted in my car and the dealer also gave me in writing that it won't void the warranty. He also said that there were warranty claims made on cars that had the 360 Cam fitted, and there were no issues whatsoever.

Also, I can see that you are from Ottapalam. Are you taking the vehicle from Indel Honda, Palakkad?

I am assessing getting a 360 camera fitted as well. Can you please share some more details about this 360 degree camera that you fit on your Elevate?
  1. What is the variant of your Elevate? Asking because I want to know if your Elevate has the ZX infotainment or the lower one? If its a ZX, then does it work in tandem with the left lane watch camera?
  2. How does the 360 camera activate? Do you have to press a button to activate it?
  3. Does the 360 view replace the rear view? What about the left lane watch camera?
  4. Is there any video that you can share which shares its activation and functionality?
  5. What brand is this? If its okay, can you please share the cost of the whole thing?

1. I have the ZX CVT. The 360 Camera is a completely different system and is not connected to the Lane Watch Camera. There is a separate camera for it that is fit under the ORVM. It is also not integrated with the rear-view camera. You lose out on Honda's rear-view camera when you install the 360, as R-gear toggles 360 and not the Honda camera. It is also not possible to change this - I have checked with the dealer and they will have to do wire tampering to enable this functionality which they say might void warranty. Some customers have apparently done it but they don't recommend it all. Also, this has recording capabilities, so you can plug in a pen-drive to a slot provided in the glove-box and that will do the recording as well.
2. Activates on turning on indicators, reverse-gear, or parking mode. You can also click a button provided
3. Attached
4. It's something called 360 AVM. The quotation was for 30k.

The overall quality is average, and certainly can't be called good/great. I would suggest you to call up the dealer and ask him to show it's working. When I went for PDI, there were 2 vehicles getting installed and they walked me through the system. I would recommend you to really evaluate your needs and only if you really need it, go for it. I live in BLR, and as you might think, there is way too much traffic, and close spaces around here, so I got it.

Thanks @prawesome for the details. I am still contemplating on the 360 deg camera. My dealer even shared a video which I am struggling to upload here. Will try again. My use case (mainly state highway drives) doesnt really warrant a 360 deg camera...so might leave it for later.

By the way, I am from Ottapalam but I am getting the vehicle from John Honda, Thrissur. Not Palakkad. Are you from the area?

Thanks for the details regarding its operation. Price quoted for me was 29K. Will try to upload my video.

This happened to me a few times and I was able to get it to reconnect by just going into BT settings for the device specific to the phone on the Infotainment system and toggle Android Auto.
I experienced the issue reported by amandal1810 above in my recent trip. No matter how many times I tried the workaround I mentioned above including BT off/on and power off/on of infotainment system, Android Auto didn't work, until the car itself restarted.

These two were my finalists in my shortlist as well

Honda Elevate ZX CVT positives:
Lane assist
ADAS
Plusher ride
Better handling
Reliability
(Potentially) better *NCAP rating

Kia Seltos HTX IVT positives:
Wider back seat(?!)
Rear middle seat: headrest, no hump, 3-point seat belt
Advanced dashboard with OTA support
Rear disc brakes
Rear window integrated curtains
TPMS
Drive and traction modes
Panoramic sunroof
Overall exterior looks (opinionated)
NVH levels (cabin is quieter)

If the use-case is state highway drives and not city drives, then my personal opinion would be to not get it. As the system is not integrated with the ZX infotainment, its just not worth it.

Yes, I am from OTP.

Re: Honda Elevate Review

I am surprised to read some of the discussions on the forum and drawing a first cut conclusion that loyal Honda fans are moving away to other brands while upgrading their cars.

Is Honda in an attempt to jack up the volumes, missing it's core value delivery ??

I was considering Honda about a year back when I wanted to replace my 12 year old Ritz Zxi which was doing a fantastic job. Uncertainty around Jazz, nothing found amazing in Amaze and WRV was purely a cladding gimmick with high GC and no match with Jazz's VfM offering.

On one of the road trips to Mumbai, I was on a back seat of my BIL's first gen Brio. The car delighted me on ride quality, leg room, all round visibility, smoothness of Engine, NVH and brisk pick up in ghats. Truly it was carrying a Honda signature all across. He has recently bought City, but still praises his Brio.

Honda is a great "Product Company". It should stick with that niche to stay relevant in the market. The customers will follow them if they simply do that.

If anyone wants to go for a 4 mtr Car WO getting into SUV fad, my recommendation will be i20 Asta / Asta (O) / i20 N line. Hyundai has worked diligently to strike a perfect balance between class, features, ride & handling. Steering feedback is far better what they provide on Venue.

If the requirement is a proper mid size SUV with a budget of 18- 25 lakhs, Toyota Hyryder and Maruti Grand Vitara are the two vehicles which stand out from the crowd and worth considering !!

I booked mine from Deccan Honda, Magarpatta (Elevate ZX CVT, Golden Brown). Right from buying to first service, experience has been sub-par to pathetic. No self insurance despite pressing hard, only waiver of the extra accessories, PDI allowed at yard after a lot of assurances. Will share the story around this someday. Leave aside everything else, their service center is in Dhankawdi - not an easy access.

I've heard good about Garve Honda - so do consider them. However even their service center is in Khadki if that impacts you.
.
Hey so I just wanted to tell about my service experience and that of one of our neighbour's. Our neighbour purchased an Amaze from Deccan Honda, Satara Road and their service centre experience was pathetic.

The owner said that he left his Amaze at the service centre for the second service. When he went back to pick it up he noticed that the car was parked in the same position as where he had left it and a person was wiping it with a cloth. Upon going there he inspected his car and noticed that the interiors were not even cleaned. So he asked for the service recording from the centre which they refused for one or the other lame reason like the cameras were not working and stuff. Upon arguing they agreed to keep the car till the next morning and check on what was happening. Next morning he got a text saying that his car was serviced.

Now his Honda Connect shows two messages in two days saying that the car has completed service. (I hope you can read between the lines and understand why they kept the car for another day after updating in the app the previous day that the car was serviced).
.
We on the other hand bought our Honda City from Crystal Honda and they have their service centre right behind their showroom at Bavdhan. I had scheduled a home pickup and drop for the first service since I didn't have the time. The car came back clean inside out and with feedback saying rats did enter the engine bay [been using rat spray ever since] with evidence. So I concluded that the service was (actually) done. But after that I have installed a dashcam so whatever on God's green earth they do (or rather not do) shall be recorded (henceforth).

But overall it was a good experience with Crystal- Bavdhan and our neighbours have also decided that henceforth their car shall visit Crystal and not Deccan Honda.
