Re: 2023 Kia Seltos Facelift Review

Seat ventilation implemented on has nothing to do with the AC. It recirculates air from the cabin into the seat openings. The inlet fan is located under the seat.

Hello rronbhp789, the seat ventilation in the Seltos isn’t directly linked to the AC temperature — like, if your AC is set to 23°C, the seat doesn’t blow out 23-degree air or anything like that. It just has little fans that pull air through the seat to keep you comfortable. But here’s the thing, even though it’s not physically connected to the AC, it still works really well with it. So if your car A/C is switched ON and cabin is being cooled or heated, the air getting pulled through the seats is also cooler or warmer, which makes the seat ventilation feel more effective.

Ventilated seats are a real practical must have feature if one buys a car nowadays especially if you live in a hot and humid city like Mumbai.

I did not think much of this feature till I experienced it in a Suzuki Grand Vitara which had 3 levels of cooling. It’s a game changer comfort wise. Initially I was thinking how comfortable the AC is in the car till I realised the seat ventilation was making me feel so very comfortable. It’s incomparable to the “normal” AC feeling in a car.

Not related to a Seltos alone but I feel a buyer should take this into consideration while making a new purchase. Try it before discarding it as just a good to have feature.

Cheers

Please fill it until 36 psi and then reduce pressure.

Babayaga_g007, Here’s what you do- fill the tire that's showing the warning up to 40 PSI (yeah, a bit more than usual), then just drive around normally for like 5–10 km. City speeds are fine. The warning should go away once the system recalibrates and shows 40 PSI on instrument cluster. After that, deflate it back down to 35 PSI and you’re good. Basically, you’ve got to over-inflate it a bit to convince the car everything’s okay. Seltos really just needs a little emotional support sometimes.

Re: 2023 Kia Seltos Facelift Review

Hello BHPians, I’ve been tinkering with something and could really use some advice from the experts (aka you all). Any thoughts or tips you’ve got would be super helpful! Appreciate it in advance!

So here’s the deal.- It’s been insanely hot here Nagpur lately. We hit 42°C the other day. Now normally, you'd expect your car to protect you a bit, right? Especially when the brochure proudly claims "solar glass with UV protection on all windows and front windshield."

2023 Kia Seltos Facelift Review-sb-.jpg
The Kia Seltos brochure mentions a solar glass- UV cut front Windshield and all door windows.

Only the front windshield glass has a marking indicating it's solar glass-UV cut glass.

2023 Kia Seltos Facelift Review-ssg.jpg
No marking on door window side glasses indicating it's a solar glass-UV cut glass.

No marking on rear windshield glass indicating it's a solar glass-UV cut glass.

Here’s where it gets interesting- I stopped by a Mahindra showroom for test driving newer EV's, and I noticed something super obvious — every single window on the car was actually etched with “UV Cut Glass, Acoustic glass” Not just mentioned in a brochure. It’s physically there, stamped on the glass.

So now I’m wondering -
  • Is Kia's UV protection so stealthy even UV rays can't see it?
  • Or was it a typo in the brochure and they meant "You Visualize protection"?
  • Or maybe. it's there, but only works if you believe hard enough.
  • Were the UV-cut glasses systematically stolen from the factory? Like those 900 engines that vanished over five years? Cause it sure never made it to our cars—but we definitely paid a premium for it.
I left my car in the sun for ten minutes, came back with a seatbelt tattoo. If that’s UV protection, I’m a potato. What about you guys? Ever spotted any UV markings on your Seltos windows? Or are we all cooking with confidence? If Kia's brochures boast about UV protection without any visible proof on the glass, are they truly delivering on their promises? Or are we, the loyal customers, being left in the heat without the protection we were promised?

Thought I could get away with filling air at petrol stations, if this is the case I will have to get a tyre inflator lol. Thanks for the help!

Babayaga_g007, I used to think I could just keep topping up air at petrol stations too—until I got tired of the whole hit-or-miss situation. I ended up buying a tire inflator -

https://www.amazon.in/TUSA-Cordless-..._source=1&th=1

The pressure reading on tire inflator matches exactly with the cold tire pressure on my Seltos TPMS every single time—zero errors. Seltos TPMS is a bit slow to react. If the low tire pressure warning on instrument cluster still doesn’t go away after following this process, better to get it checked at the ASC just to be safe.

My wife asked the same question last week - I have been bragging about solar UV glasses on our Seltos Xline, but she felt too much heat was coming through on a hot afternoon. That made me pause for a second and think if the glasses are really doing anything - and I'm almost certain they are not! Checked them today and only the front windshield has the marking. See below:

I really hope that the door windows also have solar glasses, if not, then it's a scam. Is there a way to test them? Maybe at Kia ASS?

Col Mehta, Summer is definitely when this kind of thing becomes super obvious, right? The heat just cuts through and makes you wonder if those UV and solar glass claims are even real. I had a similar moment in my Seltos—noticed how warm it still felt inside. And sure enough, only the front windshield had the marking. The rest? Nothing.

If you want to check it properly, there’s a quick way—you can use a UV flashlight and one of those UV-detecting cards or beads. Just shine the light through the glass and see if there’s any difference compared to direct light exposure. Some shops even have UV meters if you want to get a proper reading. The UV cutting performance can be compared with the front windshield glass performance since it has a marking for UV and solar glass. From my own experience of Kia ASC over an year now, if you take this to the Kia ASC, they'll most likely act like it’s the first time anyone’s ever brought it up. That “we’ll check with the company” line comes out immediately, and then things just drag on forever. It’s kind of their default mode for anything slightly outside the basic service.

Glad you posted about it though—makes me feel like I’m not the only one noticing these things

Re: 2023 Kia Seltos Facelift Review

UV contributes very less heat (5%) but is more damaging. 52% of heat is due to infra-red and 43% is from visible part.

So blocking UV has negligible amount of effect on heat inside the car.

Hello PreludeSH, UV-rejecting glass for car door windows and windshield block harmful of UV rays, offering significant skin and eye protection for the driver and passengers, reduces the amount of heat and sunlight entering the car, keeping it cooler, especially helpful during summer or in sunny climates in India. UV rays degrade materials like leather, fabric, plastic, and vinyl inside the car cabin. UV-blocking glass helps preserve your dashboard, seats, and trim by preventing sun damage. UV-rejecting window and windshield glass actually has a bunch of benefits — it helps keep the car cooler and also protects the interior from fading or cracking over time from all that sun exposure.

Re: 2023 Kia Seltos Facelift Review

Even the most cost effective garware film is very effective in cutting heat.
I can tell the difference. You get 70VLT options that cut no real light/visibility.

Even if Kia has solar/uv treated glass, it's obviously not effective, so just get those films.
Or buy suction cup mounted shades they sell at junctions. Huge difference, and can remove at night. I bent those to the shape of my window and insert them whenever it's sunny. Cheapest and best way to beat the sun.

What a co-incidence, I just shot a mail to Kia India about the inferior quality of the so claimed UV cut glasses. I am experiencing unbearable heat through the front windshield (as I am the only one driving the car) and most of the times end up severely de-hydrated after a drive in extreme heat. Being in Hyderabad I am talking about temperature hovering between 35 to 36 as of today but can't imagine what will happen when the temp reaches 40s. The headache issue has already been affecting me since the day of purchase (November 2024) but I dismissed it citing as one of an instance. Now, both these issues are hitting me hard and I fret at taking the car during day time.

The only solution I see is to go with the sun protective film but I will wait for their response not that I am expecting them to fix this but want to hear what they have to say.

My erstwhile baleno had factory fit UV cut glass minus windshield and it did the job fabulously. Our seltos doesn't even come close to that functionality.
