Looks like you had an amazing time.
Few queries:
1. Did you need snow chains ??
2. And if few pointers can be shared regarding what all you stocked up for the trip?
3. Did you get stranded due to any roadblocks etc??

We would love to read your detailed travelogue.

Thanks.

1. We were all prepped with snow chain pairs in each car. I was carrying two pairs in mine. Both Jimnys are with Apterra AT2, neither required the chains. Thar needed it in Pin valley as it was sliding around turns and deflating also didn't help much.

2. Went by the over preparing method for self clothing, medical as well as car. I will try to consolidate list in a separate post but it was to the minutest level of even a hammer to break the ice to own blankets and heaters for any roadblocks.

3. No roadblocks on the routes open with check posts. As I mentioned earlier, its only the places which are usually closed in this weather, where we got stuck and returned.

That was an awesome post sir, mesmerizing photos and very glad to hear that the mountain goat lived upto it's reputation on the Spiti circuit with elan.

Could you please mention the list of modifications / accessories that you made to your car? Thanks

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Good evening everyone.

I came across this door handle storage solution on Amazon JP. If anyone is using this? Or anyone can share knowledge about its compatibility on 5 door Jimmys? I have seen two points under the door handle in pics of Indian Jimmys. Maruti Jimny Review-img_1591.jpeg

Few basics:
1. AT Tyres
2. Radius arm mount and Transfer case guard.
3. Few internal storage trays/holders.
4. 4200K Osram for HL and FL (These were most value per rupee mod, as they helped immensely during my return leg from
Shahbad to Delhi under dense fog).

One for the heart:
GAN tuning chip

Lovely pictures. Could you share the exact spec of the tires you have ? Are these 235s ?

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Anyone who got the kingpin and brake pads+discs replaced after being unable to reproduce the issue in front of SA? I have been informed that 2 test-drives will be conducted on my car before they "agree" to replace. I need to know the cost of parts + labor, thanks!

Also a small update, odo crossed 14K KMs in December towards the end of 6-months of ownership.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

3rd service update

Got my Jimny's 3rd free service done. Car has run 9.5k kms. Was hounded by nexa service reminder calls from November. There is zero coordination between their call center and service centers even about basic details like when is there service due and if the service is booked, ongoing or done. Everyday I was getting not less than 4 calls.

Coming to service, it was simple oil change and check for king pin recall test. They said it didn't require replacement as they didn't find any steering vibration in test drive. Apart from regular service, I had asked them to check the steering offset issue. Felt they are not competent enough to fix it. Advisor started giving vague reasons to perform the corrections. I even shared the steering angle sensor resetting approach video. But he was keen on adding alignment and balancing to the job card. I said not to bother about it.

Found that one of the tyres ( Stepney moved to rear left after rotation) had a slight deformity. Advisor dismissed it saying it is normal. I Wil get it checked again.

Also got the Ignis rat mesh installed. Total bill came to 4.7k INR.

These are 225 70R15. 235 in Apterra comes with 75% side profile, thereby increasing the height, weight and need for lift.

Kingpins would cost around Rs 2200 + taxes (4 kingpins in total, LH&RH-Upper&Lower)
Front discs should be around Rs 4500 + taxes for a pair.
I'm assuming a total labour outlay of Rs 3000 max.

Also, a lot depends upon your relationship with the service centre folks. The dealers have a lot of leeway.
I know of many owners who have been denied replacement due to upsizing their tyres. (Incidentally 99% of Jimny's running in India have upgraded tyres!). And many have had their replacements done despite the upgrade.

Are these being carried out only at Nexa service centers? During my Jimny's 10K service at Arena workshop, asked to check on recall and they had no clue. I was recommended to have checked with Nexa service. Don't see issue with my car as now, so not rushing to Nexa service center.

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it" goes the old adage!
My Jim is running fine at 14,000 kms plus. No wobble. Tracking straight. No drag or drift on either side, no uneven tyre wear. And the car has not been babied at all. In fact I have not even got any wheel alignment done.
Yes, the steering wheel is tilted towards the right from day 1, but I am used to that.

Exactly my take too.

Car has done about 9500 Kms and no wobble whatsoever. Post moving to Jimny my driving style had changed ( Not in a good way ), I always used to crawl my way out on a bad patch of road but not anymore, the car simply glides off such patches ! Eastern Peripheral Expressway in Delhi-NCR has a speed limit of 120 and not the smoothest by any means, I mostly cover it at the limit as the expressway is mostly empty\access controlled and have never faced even a bit of wobble even under hardest of breaking. Steering tilt is there from day one. Otherwise the car is just as it came with no squeaks or rattles.

Hi
How was the wiring for DRL part taken? I am interested in getting these fitted and I want to go DIY route.
