One or more reverse parking sensor has gone kaput, happened thrice in my Baleno and is perfectly safe to use your vehicle in this state. This beep pattern can be decoded by reading the owner's manual, I did the same. Don't worry, just take your vehicle to MASS and get it replaced during under warranty. Try to not let them run hit and trial method by popping every sensor out as it will leave nasty scratches. They have OBD tools but rarely use them.

Parking sensors are one the many known and common failure points in a Maruti.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

The first service of our Jimny is due soon.

We bought it from Nexa Chembur (Autovista) (Mumbai) but are planning to get it serviced from Nexa Sai Service (Dadar), as the Chembur dealer team didn't really 'know' the car's features. I had a feeling that Sai Service will be more knowledgeable about the Jimny.

I went through the forum and have decided to ask for an oil change in the 1,000km service though the manual says it isn't needed. Is there anything else that should be looked at?

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Jimny Grille - the way I think it should have been in my humble opinion. Let me take you through my "Grille Journey" and explain.

Maruti Suzuki provided a OEM Grille for the 5 door Jimny, full of bling with an excessive dose of chrome, for both for the Indian as well as the International markets in the 5 door made in India version (the quality of the plastics in the OEM grille is top notch though). It frankly looks slightly over the top and this is the reason one of the first few mods made by Jimny owners is the grille change to an aftermarket one.

The following is my journey with the Jimny Grille.

The latest version of the grille (and I hope the final one)- body colour painted with certain portions black and grey:

The aftermarket grille that I replaced the OEM with:

The OEM Grille that the Jimny came with:

The front of the Jimny always looked to me as if it was incomplete or that something was missing. Took a chance since the OEM grille was lying unused and got it painted in the body colour by giving the official paint code for painting it Kinetic yellow. Got the chrome panel inserts painted black and the Suzuki "S" logo painted the colour of the alloys. A lot of inspiration for this idea came from the Gen 3 grilles. A look at the photos enclosed under would explain what I mean.

This is the Suzuki Jimny History from Gen 1 to Gen 4 where the best looking grille IMO was the Gen 3 grille:

Most aftermarket Chinese made grilles (read all) available in India are of much inferior and poor quality compared to the OEM. In fact Suzuki UK official has the retro styled grille as an aftermarket accessory - Product code - 9911C-78R00-ZSC (photo of the grille under) which at £207.24 (INR 22,300 - price in UK) is not exactly cheap - compared to the OEM grille replacement cost in India at Rs. 4700.

The international markets where the Jimny is sold also have a huge number of owners opting for after market grilles- a few examples of the aftermarket third party quality grilles being sold (most would cost INR 55k to 60K onward landed into India with freight, duty and GST paid - expensive!!!) :

All in all I am now one happy Jimny owner with the way the grille has turned out and how it fits into the front aesthetics of the Jimny. Also hope this is the final one (cannot bet of this though as the itch to put something new has become a weekly ritual with most of us Jimny owners) .

PS : Credits for the last 3 photos to the respective owners.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Finally after a year long wait, my Jimny is home.
Took delivery of my White Rhino last week.

Slowly everyone at home too have started liking it.
Their only concern now is space. Might have to borrow my father's vehicles from now on, when more people or luggage criteria arises.

Have taken it out only 2 days, and atleast 5 people have come up and asked details on Jimny. Many were even shocked to know it has 4x4. Thanks to Maruti Suzuki's price goof-up, there are not many Jimnys on road like Thar (atleast in my hometown).

Meanwhile sold my other car, Duster D 85Ps RXZ (18k kms run).
Was very difficult to part ways with it. Wished to keep duster too, but with Jimny and other vehicles at home, couldn't afford to keep/maintain Duster.

Last pic of my Duster. (Clicked before delivery yesterday)

And to console myself, have a head vs heart decision.
My White Rhino - Jimny.

Hopefully it will be reliable and planning to keep it for as long as possible.

... And she comes home!(Is it he/she?). Got the delivery on 16th and went on a small trip.

A Few things that bug us:
Seat has no height adjustment. I'm 6" no problem but my dad is about 5 and needs a pillow.
Gears doesn't feel super slick like how Japanese gearbox must be (I consider myself a newbie so that's just me).

It's the Second day and number of strangers who has asked about the car is 2. Just two questions, What's the cost and what's the mileage and that clearly tells why Jimny isn't selling well (even with high FE for a 4x4).

Welcome to the J-Club DLC5005. Wishing you millions of miles and millions of smiles per mile in this quirky little imp of a car.

The white reminds me so much of the Gypsy! Great choice. And coming from a Duster myself too, it is the ideal follow up car. It's a very fill it shut it forget it sort of a car, I'm sure you'll be keeping it for years to come. Have fun with it and trust me, your heart is in the right place, the head will agree too!

Hi, Thanks for the wishes.

Yes. Actually my first choice was Red and Black dual tone. But my father told to opt for white, since he likes white. I was ok with white as well since it's easier to maintain in the long run.

That gives some more confidence, since it's coming from duster owner. Planning to keep it as long as possible. That's one of the reason I opted for AT, since automatics are the future.

Thank you. The head has already agreed with Jimny's looks and strength. But still need some time to come out of Duster's space, milage, comfort and ride quality. I know it's not a fair comparison, but still head needs some time to align with heart's decision.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Hi all, I had booked the Jimny Xeta MT last month with the deal finalised at 11.5L. However, their was some delay in loan process from the dealer’s end and the billing could not be done before 31st. I was told that the offer won’t be available now. If I want it, I have to pay 1 lakh extra to which I didn’t agree and asked them to cancel the deal and refund my booking amount. It was around 10 days ago. Now my problem is that when I check the status of my loan online, it shows that loan is under disbursement process. The dealer says that they have canceled the loan and have not received the amount from bank. I want to ask if I should believe them or not? This is my first time dealing with any kind of loan.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Jimny AT Alpha DT – Sizzling Red: My Story

It all began with a major problem: Bangalore traffic. Living in North Bangalore, my daily commute to the office was around 25 kilometers, with 75% of that distance navigating slow-moving metro construction zones. Although I had come to accept traffic as part of life, driving a BMW 320D on that stretch three times a week started to wear on me. Additionally, the city's unpredictable and occasional flooding made me increasingly nervous.

My second car, a Honda BRV, was mostly used by my wife. Though I could have used it, her office's return-to-work mandate meant the BRV was often unavailable when I needed it. Buying a third car seemed unnecessary, but the idea of a smaller, more maneuverable vehicle began to appeal to me. Surprisingly, after discussing it with my family, they also supported the idea, prioritizing my peace of mind.

My requirements were simple: a small, narrow, automatic car with low maintenance. My initial shortlist included the MG Comet, BYD Seagull, and Maruti Ignis. The Comet was ruled out due to its shape and the lack of DC fast charging options. The Seagull, rumored to be released soon, never materialized. Living in an apartment without a charging facility made an EV impractical. I eventually leaned towards the Ignis due to its 4-cylinder engine and peppy drive, and my family reluctantly agreed.

I visited the nearby Nexa showroom and booked an Ignis AT in Nexa Blue, expecting delivery in 10 days. However, after reading several Team-BHP reviews, I began to have second thoughts. Spending 10 lakhs on an Ignis felt off to me. The following weekend, I went to the showroom to cancel my booking. While waiting, I spent a few minutes looking at a Jimny on display. I was instantly captivated by its compactness, interiors, exteriors, and overall package.

Although I had heard Jimny sales were declining and that significant discounts were being offered, I had always associated it with the Gypsy, which my uncles used to have. I admired the Gypsy’s looks and functionality but not its ride quality. I was also considering an old Gypsy or a Mahindra jeep for estate use in my hometown, but that was a long-term plan.

A quick online search about the Jimny changed my perception of its ride quality. The dealer arranged a test drive, and I walked out of the showroom with a decision to switch my booking from the Ignis to the Jimny. I informed my sales representative that I would confirm the variant and color within a day.

The decision process was a whirlwind: from not buying a third car to booking one, canceling, and then making an impulsive choice. I felt the Jimny was a much better deal at 15 lakhs compared to the Ignis at 10 lakhs. Though I’m not an off-roader, having a 4x4 option was an added bonus. After a few hours of research (Team-BHP and YouTube), I found that the Jimny matched my requirements perfectly, except for its lack of peppiness. I also learned about the THAR but never considered it due to its size and appearance; I wanted something less intimidating.

My family was supportive of the Jimny decision, and the Alpha version had the best discounts, making it an easy choice. Although I initially considered Bluish Black or Nexa Blue, my daughters decisively chose the Red with a Black Roof.

The wait was excruciating. Initially promised delivery within two weeks, it took almost a month. I used this time to learn more about the Jimny and select the right accessories. Although I couldn’t do a pre-delivery inspection due to scheduling conflicts, there were no issues. I took delivery of the vehicle on August 12th, which was manufactured in May 2024. I’ve driven around 500 kms so far, including a trip to my hometown (Wayanad) with 50% each on highways and hill station roads. I had been avoiding the Mysore-Handpost-Bavali route for some time as I used to drive a Beamer, but this time, I took that route without a second thought. Here are some of my observations:

Ride quality is top-notch. The suspension takes care of everything.

I’ve heard that the Jimny isn’t ideal for those who own only one car, but I completely disagree.

Ideal Yoko Geolandar tyre pressure is 27 psi at the front and 29 psi at the back. My tyre dealer had put 33 on all tyres, making for a bumpy ride.

The interiors are classy and neat. There is some struggle getting used to the power window switches, but I’ll get used to it.

The boot has sufficient capacity to carry luggage for a family of four. The ability to stack vertically really helps.

Parking is so easy—it can fit into any slot.

I'm getting a mileage of 14 on the highway, 12 in the city, and 9 on hill roads. This is with wind booster on.

No storage for bottles, mobiles, wallets, add as many after market storage options as you can.

Initial pickup is slow, which can be irritating on a highway. A throttle controller is a must-add accessory.

Key Accessories Added:

Wind Booster: A must-have upgrade for the Jimny.

Tyres: 215/75-15 Yokohama Geolandar AT LT (white-lettered). I considered Apollo Apterra AT (225) and Continental AT (215). Limited options in Bangalore led to exchanging old tyres for 2000 per tyre.

Grill: Replaced the chrome stock grill with a custom one. Installed it with my daughter, making it a fun, trial-and-error project.

Seat Covers: Armoro canvas covers, installed with help from a local installer.

Storage: Added Armoro storage around the gear lever and handlebar bag.

Mats: GFX mats from a local dealer in Bangalore; happy with the quality.

Armrest: Brand name forgotten; cost 6.5K, which seemed high for the product.

Did maruti suzuki send you any message regarding Loan application? If you havent received any information from maruti suzuki finance then You are not in the last month finance scheme. Also bank will give you delivery order which includes remaining money to be paid to dealership and conditions for delivering your car.

No, I have received none of the these two. I am now hoping to get the Jimny at the year end. My only fear is that if there is any chance of dealer fooling me after receiving the amount from bank. What exactly is the meaning of ‘loan under disbursement’? And this status from bank has been the same for last 10 days.

Im in the same boat but the wait still continues. Congrats on your Ride. Does the back seat belt warning chime still exist on May manufactured car?

Your Loan amount is not received by maruti suzuki. Please check with your bank for assistance.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Facing this weird noise from the roof on the driver side. Its started all of a sudden today. Its a tak-tak sound and comes even after the car os at standstill.
Looks to be a heat related expansion of the roof. Similar issue has been reported by owners in Australia as well. The noise in the video in the post below is similar to what i am hearing

https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sour...qQ531j92St0PT3

Any suggestions on how to rectify this?

Edit: adding a video of my car

Looking at the price of Thar 5 D, 4×2, Jimny is a much better deal?
