I suggest checking videos available on youtube on how to remove grill for a better grasp, it is dead easy. All you need is a flathead and phillips head screwdriver.
  1. Remove the two plastic clips / fastners on the top of grill with a flathead screwdriver
  2. Peep into the gap at the bottom of the grill, there is a phillips head plastic screw each on either end. Gently push it and turn 90 degree, to unclasp, that is sit. Note - IT DOES NOT UNSCREWS OR COME OFF
  3. Clip off the pigtails at the back of side indicators
  4. Yank mercilessly at all the edges of grill, it is held by door card clips all around. Try not to soil your pants every time the clips comes off with a scary sound.
  5. Decide if you want to keep the suzuki logo in chrome or black. I have left it chrome but I believe all black will also look good.
I highly recommend removing the chrome inserts and suzuki monogram, it is not complicated at all. This will give you better access for prep and coverage.

Cheers

Thanks so much for the detailed description of the process.

I did check videos - but I'm better off with a written step-by-step as you have done.

Just one stupid question - the two phillips screws need to be turned 90 degrees clockwise or anti clockwise.

Will try to do this soon and post some photos too.

My New Jimny first drive impressions

Hi all,

Got delivery of my Bluish Black Alpha AT on 18th December. The delivery was a bit delayed on time, however was fully satisfied with the support provided by the sales advisor from Indus Motors.

Recently sold my Jeep Compass Petrol Manual (wonderful car, but manual gear in Kerala roads is getting more and more difficult). Already have an automatic Honda City for family runs and long drives. Jimny fits perfectly as a second car and the Thunder Edition discounts sealed the deal.

Likes:
Go anywhere capability
Perfect size for city runs
Practicality of a compact SUV (4 doors and the boot)

Dislikes
Engine performance in highways and climbs are just adequate. You need to change your driving style to suit the car
Lack of storage space

No alternatives were considered as there are hardly any thing comparable to the Jimny, be it in India or abroad. The Thar was never in my list. I feel the Thar excels in its Macho appearance and speed, where as the Jimny for its practicality, ride and city usage. The off-road capabilities are more or less similar for both cars especially for wannabe off-roaders like me. I'm not sure if the two cars are comparable except for the 4x4 capabilities.

I got the car for 16 Lakhs on road including extended warranty and all other tings. I live in Dubai and enquired on the newly launched 5 door Jimny here. The ex showroom price was AED 90,000 (INR 20.3 Lakhs) for the top end automatic, however with a promised delivery within 8 months only. This visit to the Dubai Suzuki dealer made the decision making much easier.

Regarding the discounts, I heard two different stories. The first was the high production according to the initial hype and bookings, with many cars remaining unsold due to the booking cancellations. Second was that these cars were produced for export however got rejected due to one quality issue (not sure what it is), and Maruti decided to sell these in India at a lower price.

Driven the car for around 600kms mainly in city and from Kochi to Munnar, Thekkady and back. Enjoyed every moment. If you understand the car and its limitations, it's good fun. you only feel a bit embarrassed when some manual swift or I20s slot in their third gear and zoom past you. But then I just tell them .. You cant go anywhere near where i can. The car is pretty rare, I could not spot many Jimnys and people still turn there heads.

Mileage I noticed was between 9 to 10 on mountain roads and around 11 to 12 on normal Kerala highways and city. Not sure if it will improve post first service. Being an NRI, my running is very limited. Hence this is not much of an issue.

Fit and finish feels solid. The car is exactly of the same quality as the one I saw in Dubai, so no cost cutting compared to international versions. having driven Yeti and Compass previously in India, i do not feel the quality is much compromised, and this is a comparable car except for its engine power, at a much lower price.

Accessories fitted:
Tires changed to Yokohoma Geolander 215-75-15
New Grill
Roof Rack
Ladder
Centre arm rest
Horn
Mats
Side door cladding
Mud flaps
Fancy number charges
Total - approximate 1 lakh.

The front seat comfort is excellent. Haven't tried the back seats, so not able to comment. I find the ride quality to be supple. the port holes are not felt much. I think the ladder frame construction helps. The view from front seat is excellent. The car has absolutely no storage and this is a bit irritating. You don't know where to securely keep a bottle of water. The AC is very good and I was keeping on 26 degree throughout. The gear shifts are not felt, car is very quite at normal RPMs and gets a bit boomy above 3000RPM.

Steering feel is good with enough weight , however a bit hard on parking speeds and due to its high turning radius. Handling is good considering it's a body on frame car. All in all I'm fully satisfied with the purchase.

Few questions and my answers:
Would you recommend this as a primary car for city use - Yes (if the gas mileage is okay for you)
Would you recommend this as a primary car for highway use - Never
Would you recommend this as a primary car for mixed city / highway use - Can be, depending on your priorities. please test drive before making a decision.
Would you recommend this as a second car for mixed city and highway use - Yes (with a compromise on highway speeds)
Would you recommend this for off-road / rural use - Yes (If you are Okay with its gas mileage)

Having dreamt of owning a Gypsy from my childhood days, this was a dream come true. The price cut from Maruti made it easier. I actually test drove the car in August. With an on road price of 18 lakhs plus which I thought was a bit high on what it offered, I embraced on all its negatives to somehow make up mind that the car was no good. Now when i drive my own Jimny, it's exactly opposite of what i felt during my first drive. . My advise to whoever wanting to own this gem from Suzuki, this is the right time, provided you are at peace with your better half.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Had this Decathlon cycle mount lying around since last year. It doesn't fit on the i20 because the metal strap ends clash with the spoiler. The fit on the Jimny isn't perfect but it seems decent enough. Had to put a piece of cloth to make top foam piece sit on the car's rear window. Will be driving extremely slowly with the cycle mounted (no complaints about the engine here).

Maruti Jimny Review-20231225_180831.jpg

The front bar of the cycle itself is too fat to fit properly on the decathlon mount. The cycle itself is also too heavy to comfortably put on the stand each time. Maybe time to swap to a road or hybrid bike, which should be a lot lighter. Traveling with my own bike is totally going to change visiting different cities. It's also a reason to travel by road over taking a flight.

Will keep watch on the mounts stability for a while. Another benefit is that I can comfortably open the rear door with the cycle attached. Can't do this with hatchbacks!

Falling more in love with my Jimny everyday. I hope to be more fit and outdoorsy with Mango in 2024! Less screens and more adventure!!

Pepega, get a foldie and throw it into the rear seat. Problem solved and these are great for urban commutes.

Always wanted to get one of those, however if I'm going to get something with those tiny wheels, I'm gonna need it to be electric and I don't feel super comfortable with carrying around a lithium ion battery everywhere. Those also start from around 45-50k if I'm not wrong (emotorad doodle).

A non-electric one foldable feels pointless. I'd rather spring for a nice full size hybrid or drop-down bars street bike. Spending 50-60k on one of these will last me my entire life.

It doesn't help to be 6 foot tall. If the decathlon stand isn't suitable, I'll invest in the Nexa official accessory roof cycle stand. That's about 30k, I think. A lot more than the zero rupees I spent on this contraption.

I would recommend against a roof mounted bike rack. There are chances you might forget about the bike above you and drive into lanes (with height limit metal beams), apartment parking, low trees, hanging wires etc.

Look for some thing that fits your spare wheel better.

I'm currently using 2 different bike racks on my cars. They've served me well.
  1. Yakima Spareride - INR. 20k from Bumsonthesaddle (Alt - https://yakima.com/products/spareride)
  2. BNB Sparewheel Mount Carrier Ranger Pro - INR. 10k from Thebikeaffair (Alt - https://www.cyclop.in/products/bnb-r...ier-ranger-pro)

The Yakima Spareride looks fantastic. I'd buy it for the aesthetic alone. It seems to be sold out on bumbsonthesaddle.com, sadly. I wonder if you think it'll be back in stock? Maybe best for me to reach out to them directly. I also would want confirmation that it fits the back of the Jimny snugly.

I've bookmarked the BNB Rack. Its price seems to be at 13k on the website and it's also sold out right now. If either of these become in stock, I'll look into selling my decathlon one and getting one of those.

I'm very new to cycling. I never had a cycle until the one I got the one you see in the pictures, and I picked a really terrible bike that doesn't fit my size. I'm always looking for a new bike and bumsonthesaddle seems to have some really tempting options.

Thank you for sharing! Cheers!

I don't think so. I haven't seen it in stock since 2021. Try getting it via friends traveling to India. It uses an adapter plate between your mount and spare wheel. Once the spare wheel is mounted & bolted over the adapter, the rack can be mounted and removed in under 30secs whenever you need it. You can leave it on too. Watch this

I bought this in 2015 for 10k.

If you're new to cycling, do not buy online. Visit a few cycling boutiques and have conversations with them about your requirements. They will give you their opinions on recommended frame size, components (per budget), etc.

Correct sizing of the frame, reach to the handle bar (stem length), saddle specific to your sit bones, will determine how comfortable/painful your riding will be. Get a basic bike fit done (you may have to change some parts accordingly)

I found the BNB Rack on cycling boutique dot in for 13k. Will just go with this since seems a lot easier to get ahold of.

Yeah, I'm not too eager to get a new bike at the moment. I didn't have a very positive experience at Trak and Trail, their sales team was very intent on pushing MTBs, although I have no requirement of one. I suppose that's the most profitable type to sell. I'm keeping a tight hold on my wallet until I find the perfect bike for me.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Team,

Can anyone help me with prices in NOIDA?
I got very uncanny prices today.
I also have access to the CSD (canteen) rates and what I do know is that the base MT is available at just 9.6Lac there. This also means I can flip the thar and wait and watch and purchase next year - the discounts will always be available via the CSD.

--------------------- sector 10 Nexa prices, and I've been told that the discounts have been reduced. Really?
Jimny zeta MT
Exshoroom- 1274000

Dealer. - 70000

Compared to my Thar, it's got a few things going for it.

1. Shoulder rubbing on road - haven't observed it. I'm 6.1 and my dad's 5.10. I'm also 105 kilos (sad, will come down to 95 asap.)
2. Ingress egress minus the footstep is okay.
3. Car needs a 2 inch lift and bigger tyres. It'll match the thar easily then. Will the suspension comfort improve? I think it'll still outclass the thar but I wonder if the engine will keep up.
4. Fed up of Mahindra electronics issues. Been to the service center 20 times in 2 years.
5. The plastics on the Thar feel much better but the Jimny isn't too bad honestly. It isn't far behind.
6. Visibility is great so far.
7. UV cut glass at long last.
8. Auto AC.
9. Rear wiper.
10. Wireless android
11. Cheap extended warranty.

Need a help. My Jimny is going for the 10k service next week. I’m planning for a winter spiti trip. Wanted to know if I need any oil change recommendations?

Got it from Nexa Palwal from what I know they don’t have any stock left. Try Nexa Rewari and Sohna they still have some stock available.

Stick to the Maruti Suzuki recommended Oil grade. Its designed to work in hot and cold conditions. Being a new car, I don't suppose there should be much else to do other than checking all fluids, such as windshield washer, brakes and coolant.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Hi All,

So this is my first post here after a long, very long period of being a reader, it feels good to be finally a member of this forum.

Just wanted to quickly drop by to say that I am now a proud member of the Jimny family.

Got this baby home last Thursday.

Can't wait to connect with fellow Jimny lovers to fully explore the capabilities of this beast.

P.S: This forum has been a decisive factor in me finally taking a stand and just letting my family (wife, parents and in-laws) know that I am going to buy the Jimny no matter what.

Cheers.
