If the former, they most likely reset the cluster FE reading and it's showing FE since reset, not for the entire ODO reading.
It was reset at both places - ICE and console. Mostly battery disconnected could be the cause.

Yes. Did 400 kms post the service and the FE is 13.5 kmpl now.

Agree. Could be due battery disconnect. Wil check with the SA.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Noticed this morning.

Oily residue on the base of both front coil springs. What gives?

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Lazy Saturday activity: An impromptu decision to wash the car and use clay bars.

My Jimny came home in the month of October, 24. Since then I had planned multiple DIY projects on the car. Just like 'planned Goa trips'; those never materialized.

I have since October bought a bottle of ceramic wax polish, clay bars, microfiber clothes, hose pipe with spray nozzle, etc but could not buy enough time to use them.

Come February the first; I forcefully kept my physical body at home and switched off from concalls and the daily grind.
I took the opportunity to attend to my car as soon as the missus and the kid snoozed off in the afternoon.

I wanted to wash, dry and apply the Turtle wax ceramic spray on the car all at a go. But I grossly underestimated the winter sun and the so called 'small' footprint of the Jimny. In order to apply ceramic wax, I had to wipe off dust and grime from every inch of the painted surfaces. It was then I realized why car detailing is a painful job.

Using the clay bar was a new experience. I could easily remove bird droppings and tree sap stains just by sliding the clay over them. Knowledge from Youtube videos came handy. The surface of the car did become silky smooth after few passes of the clay. I used a lot of water to rinse the car and hoped that wiping it with micro fibre cloth will dry it instantly. But that did not happen. At least a novice like me could not manage it. So I left it to dry and called it a day.

Friendly mod and seasoned offroader Jaggu suggested we rule out whether it's some sort of spray SC guys might have put there at service.

The struts aren't mounted inside the coils, and the struts' base bracket is lower, so it seems odd leaked oil would collect on the coil spring stopper rather than near the base mount of the strut (clearer reference angle in the pic below).

Washed and cleaned both sides. Will watch for a few hundred kms. If residue shows up again, will complain to SC.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Finally got the delivery of my car. It was a long wait. Just like all other bhpians here, likes and dislikes are similar. I loved the way car felt on roads. The ride quality is amazing. Turning radius doesn’t bother me. It brought back the memories of all the Gypsys I have driven. Gearshift and gear lever feels like you are driving a gypsy. So old Gypsy owners won’t complain even a bit about Jimny I guess.

Narrow foot print meant a boon for heavy traffic. Brakes are horrible.

Interiors felt slightly less on storage space. So supplemental with stuffs from Amazon jp.

Will slowly gear it up for all those adventure trips. Few pics of my stallion:Maruti Jimny Review-img_1681.jpeg

The best thing about the car which me and wife loved:-

The stark contrast between different markets is intriguing.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Happen to park behind a Wrangler today. Heavy traffic, short window of time, against the sun, etc. - managed to take just one clear picture! Standing side-by-side would have been a more dramatic comparison of the size!!

I will post a comparison sometime; I must take those out and do a dedicated shoot!
Yes, Jimy looks too small if they are side by side. I love Jimny for what it does (it just needs a little more power for the highway).

Made-in-India Maruti Suzuki Jimny Nomade Receives 50,000 Bookings In Japan, so I believe now the discounts on Jimny India would also fade away as Suzuki would export the inventory to fulfil the orders from Japan.

If my recollection is right, maruti has a production capacity of 1 Lakhs Jimny per year. So unless majority of these are fulfilled international they need domestic sales. They need to do a price correction similar to what they did for S-cross and sales will pick up.

Super awesome review mate.
I am almost sold on all points now that I have checked the latest Thar Roxx and have done my comparison, too. The only waiting point for me from Maruti Suzuki is to check whether they will offer ADAS2 on this one in the near future, as I am in no hurry to buy my retirement car. The only criterion is that it should be able to take me anywhere without a fuss. A friend has been inviting me to his place (Nagaland) for the last few years, and he knows that I always drive wherever I go. My Polo won't take me there for sure. Hence waiting eagerly for an update before taking the plunge.
PS: Those are some of my all-time favourite songs, thanks for the lead, now they all are added to my latest playlist on Spotify.

Not directly related, but I have a comment on ADAS. I have recently also bought an X5, and it's sudden braking on thinking that the 2 wheelers in front of me are hazards while I'm trying to take a turn, has almost caused me to be rear ended by vehicles behind me. It was very scary, how it suddenly completely stops on it's own. In my opinion, this tech is not yet ready for the chaos of roads in India.

Also, when I am reversing and parking in my garage, all the sensors light up and emit a cornucopia of noises. Our garage is tight and the sensors are probably used to spacious parking in western world. While not unsafe, it's super annoying!

I am now trying to turn ADAS off (the software menu is confusing, that's another story).

Best of luck in your next car pursuit !

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

After my recent experience with NEXA service, I am hesitant to have any future work done by them. During my third free service, I requested that the steering tilt be fixed. The service advisor insisted on performing wheel alignment and balancing to address the issue. Since I had already done tire rotation, alignment, and balancing just 500 kilometers earlier, I asked him to simply reset the steering angle sensor. However, he claimed that wheel balancing and alignment were necessary. I instructed them to not to bother and leave the steering as it was.

To my surprise, when I called in the evening to check if my car was ready, he mentioned they were doing the wheel alignment. I reiterated that I had asked them not to proceed with it. When I received the bill, there was no charge for the alignment, but I noticed unnecessary items like rat spray, interior trim spray, washer fluid, and air freshener, totaling 500 INR, had been added. I chose not to argue and settled the bill before taking my car. Unfortunately, I didn't test drive the car before leaving, as it was late. During a Bangalore-Mysore trip over the weekend, I realized they had messed up the alignment—the car was pulling significantly to the right. I called them and visited on Sunday, and after a test drive, the mechanic acknowledged the alignment issue and corrected it.

What was even more concerning was the mechanic's advice on how to drive the automatic transmission for longevity. He seemed unaware of the L-1-2 gear functions in an automatic and suggested using '2' for highway driving and 'D' for city driving to extend the gearbox's life. This was surprising, especially since he claimed to have 14 years of experience with Maruti service centers.

Will stay next to car for the rest of the services for sure
