You can push for a bit more. My Alpha MT costed me 12L OTR in July.

They happened on smooth tarmac and concrete, they would come randomnly for 30 seconds and then as the speed changed they would go away on their own.
Have an update on the vibration issue I faced. Pasco Nexa in Gurgaon has seen the same issue in a few more Jimny's too, replacing the front disc's and kingpins under warranty has fixed it. It took a week for the part to arrive and a day for them to fix it.

I was able to do a small highway run till 100kmph and there were no vibrations, however will do a more thorough test at the end of the month when I have long trip planned.

Attaching a pic of the parts replaced.

Highly unlikely. The discounts have reduced further and the dealers are not willing to do more than 2.70L. It’s more or less standard across dealers now.

This month the discount reduced from 1lakh to 80k. The Maruti Finance benefit of 1.5 lakh is still there. So 2.30 as of now.

That’s right. But I got additional dealer discount of 40k. That’s about it.

Jimny September sales are at 599 units, while Thar is at 8843 (which may inlcude Roxx test drive vehicles). Almost 15 times!

But a decent number considering its 4x4-only setup, sticker price, size, power and space it offers against Thar.

Everywhere else in the world, the demand for Jimny may be due to the fact that they don't have the Thar. With those small additional things it offers over Jimny, it conquers this battle - if such a thing exists.

With some additional 200mm width and a Turbo engine at the current price, it still can give a good fight.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Has anyone installed viofo A229 plus or pro on their Jimny. I read somewhere that because of the near vertical windshield in Jimny and Thar some dashcams may not position correctly.
Posted the query in dashcam thread, got no reply.

Interesting problem there. Although the lense moves at various positions, it could be a problem.
Not that I have a Jimny but I recently pried out my Viofo 119 from my old car before selling it. The GPS mount/Non GPS mount will have to be pasted at a certain incline in your case( if indeed the moving positions of the dashcam aren't compatible).

Solution: 6-7 layers of double sided tape can be stuck on the top half of the mount to make it stick at an angle on the windscreen, maybe? Or a plastic wedge like piece can be glued to the mount and then the double side tape used.

Set cruise speed to 80 kmph on bengaluru-mysore highway. Got respectable FE of 17+ kmpl. Mine is Alpha Automatic variant.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

I finally took a test drive of the Jimny and it is AMAZING! You need to drive one to understand the awesomeness. This car gives "visibility" a new meaning.

Shout out to Nexa Kalamassery (Kochi) and their sales advisor(s) for allowing me to mildly off-road the vehicle. All my TD and showroom experiences from them have been great.

Little bit about the TD vehicle: 30k run Alpha AT, which had zero creaks. Hard plastics didn't show much signs of ageing (though it did remind me of cars a decade ago). Unlike my assumption of poor pick-up (I've driven the grand vitara NA which has the same engine I guess, although with a different tune) this was pretty decent, up to 70 kph anyway. The AT was also decent.

The back seat is impossible for me (I'm only 5' 9" but have been used to the sedan like seats of my Vento and Kushaq) with almost no under thigh support and a very unsupportive angle at the back. The front seats are okish but might not be great for anything above 3 hrs.

Only time I faced an issue was when stuck in a large puddle, when the traction control kept cutting power in 4L. That was mostly my bad. There is a press written on the 4x4 selector which is a little unintuitive.

I'm now more confused than before. I love the Jimny. On the EV front - getting something like a Punch LR is going to cost me the same as the Jimny. I've been quoted 13.6 - 15.6L otr, (after all discounts) Kochi for the 4 variants of the Jimny. I'm yet to TD a punch but I feel it is more practical and comfortable for my mother and grandmother - who would be a part of most city travels. The Jimny's ingress/ egress and height are also a little difficult for them.

I shall be taking the EV TDs soon.

I found the steering to be pretty alright. This might be an incorrect judgement from my side though, as it took me a good 3 TDs to realize the weight of the pre-facelift Harrier's HPS. The excess turning of the steering didn't bother me much although that turning radius would be a problem at times (livable trade-off). My mother hasn't been driving for a decade+ now and I couldn't have her try out the car. She'll be re-learning to drive.

The 5-door Jimny is a remarkably capable and practical vehicle. It comfortably seats four and offers a smoother ride compared to the Thar, which can be a bit bouncier. When it comes to off-road performance, the Jimny excels with finesse, while the Thar often relies on brute strength. The Thar enjoys popularity in India largely due to its cool factor, and similarly, the Jimny has found its appeal in Western markets cause they find them cool there. However, Mahindra does not evoke the same nostalgia and affection among consumers outside India. There is no question that Mahindra has achieved considerable advancements in the automotive sector. Yet, they lack finesse compared to global brands they rely on value for money proposition and give all the features you can think of.

The cult status of Land Cruisers and Land Rovers in the '60s, '70s, and '80s stemmed from their straightforward, go-anywhere capabilities at a reasonable price. Over time, these vehicles became larger, more expensive, and increasingly reliant on electronics.

In contrast, the Jimny has captured attention for its nostalgia and simplicity, offering bulletproof reliability and comfort—qualities many enthusiasts have sought for decades. It’s a rugged yet comfortable 4x4 that is cherished by many.

On the other hand, it’s worth noting that 50% of Thar sales are for rear-wheel drive models. While I mean no offence to those who prefer RWD-only off-roaders, one has to wonder why one would sacrifice comfort for the image of an off-roader. The Thar’s 150 bhp is less effective, given its brick-like aerodynamics, and both Thar and Jimny struggle at speeds over 100 km/h. (One due to the noise in the cabin and the other due to a weak engine)
I spend half the year abroad, and owning a Thar would mean my wife would have to manage any electronic or mechanical issues on her own or face Mahindra after sales on her own. In contrast, the Jimny provides peace of mind with its reliable performance and the advantage of having fewer clueless mechanics at Maruti after-service.

While the Thar Roxx competes in a different segment, starting at nearly 20 lakhs on-road for a 4x4, I find it puzzling that a three-door Thar is outselling a more capable, practical five-door Jimny.
